Hey Dan, love the reactions! Just wanted to point out that when I listen with headphones there's a high-pitched whine in the microphone audio. Hopefully you can get that sorted :)
damn that is right you are in nz again for the beat box comp thing, welcome to nz hope you had or having a good time here, love your videos, sad i did not get a chance to meet you
I like how casual matej is on the stage, like he owns that place, just doing his thing, interacting with the crowd and have fun the second AVH round is so great. ever since he dropped it as his wildcard I've been listening to it. its exactly my music taste and I absolutely love this song just musically. If I didn't know, I'd probably not guessed that its loopstation beatbox either. Maybe its not very battle-y but he's executed that one so well, from clean buildup to transitions and just great overall feel. and that last one of matej is just pure party and vibes
I would like for them to make a loop category with very limited effects . I think as you said since there are so many effect manipulations band it’s not just the mouth anymore it’s very hard to judge objectively.
Getting the crowd excited has to be part of battle energy, right? Matej's second round won on that criteria. I also loved the quirkiness of the songs and Matej's style and attitude with the Reggae influence. Why does he dance and look so good?
Theres an incredible high pitched Tone in your background. Might take a Look at that.. Great reaction too, but that Sound is really annoying.. You can here it at 8:45
AVH is the clear winner here for me. Just so clean and consistent. Matej's 2nd round did hit pretty hard tho. I wish they would put more weighting into consistency througout the entire battle.... it is important as a listener. Seems like one drop can win a whole battle which doesnt seem right.
But AVH also seemed very repetitive. The lack of any real drops made the chill house track very obvious, than how we felt last year with Frosty, Bizkit and Rhythmind.
Deadass I thought I saw him around town last week but I didn't think it was him bc I thought he was gonna be at UK champs for the 15th anniversary, he's gonna be at an event I'm going to in February, bass ventura and footboxg are going to be there too
I think there's something that makes even more difficult to choose between AVH and its opponents (both Brez and Matej) because of the "new" music style that AVH has brought to the competition.
Also, it is a pattern i have noticed as well that seems ridiculous that the "louder" sounds give someone an extra edge. 9 times out of 10 the loud sounds aren't even pleasant to the ears. Loopstation is a flawed category when it comes to judging forsure. (No disrespect to the judges it definitely can't be an easy job!)
judging a loopstation category is kinda a ridiculous thing to have to do anyway, there isn't really any clear way to do it right unless someone makes a bunch more mistakes than their competitor. people will always be mad about the choices regardless of how the judges come to a decision. i think we ought to just enjoy the music :)
I'd argue this is a bit baseless... especially after Bizkit got eliminated by Robin The judges do value the mix, it's just that AVH stagnated by this point by not switching up style/genre at all almost. Very pleasing, yes, but still stagnant Although I'll agree, drop-heavy styles like dubstep and drum and bass possibly give an unfair advantage to loopers
The judges have their blue card in their left hand and the red card in their right hand. Judge on the end voted red because he held up his right hand so 4 - 1 Matej
The loopstation battles this year just felt so boring compared to previous years... Like No rhythmind, saro, so-so and there wasn't many wow moments for me
I hate the bizkit was knocked out. He’s the only one that I felt interested watching. The other artists are good but it’s not eye opening to me like bizkit was
I personally feel like AVHs set feels like an old DJ who just focuses on techno. Most his tracks sound too similar and honestly are kind of predictable
I'm genuinely confused at what makes this so impressive, why can't they just beat box normally, why do they have to use autotune and a soundbar? Most of this was just a simple beat(b,t,b,tk,t,t,b,t,tk,t)
loopstation is more like sound and layer designing rather than beatboxing. some says it's not beatboxing and i can agree with that, but who cares it sounds amazing.
Raw beatboxing does makes loopstation track more authentic but at the end of the day, these loopers just want to make professional track where it can be as close as songs that is produced in fl studio or something
