Honestly as a Giants fan, I had 0 expectations for this season, full on tear it down and get good pieces back for the future, I never could have imagined this kind of season.

And that’s why the Mets will win the 2022 World Series

Predictions are indeed quite difficult. People who can call the surprises get paid a lot of money because its such a rare skill. So you did fairly well, all things considered. To be fair, few Giants fans, like myself, saw us winning the division. But you know who did? The players, coaching staff, and front office all saw it. And that's what matters in the end.

glad you went back and revisited your early season picks. i find it interesting to look back how the season played out and how what looked good months ago didn't amount to much in reality.

The biggest stories people should keep in mind when looking back at preseason predictions are 1) The Giants came out of nowhere to steal the NL West from the Dodgers 2) The Padres with the second highest World Series odds and also making huge trades to win now completely flopped. One of the most disappointing seasons by a team in any pro sport I can remember in a long time 3) The cardinals winning 17 straight to steal the last wildcard from the Reds 4) the Mets absolute mid season implosion. They had the division handed to them on a silver platter and still fumbled the bag. The Braves mid season comeback after so many close losses and injuries was something special. 5) the Red Sox with getting their manager back and a lot of the players acquired from the Betts trade outperformed preseason expectations and held their own in one of the most stacked divisions I can remember in a long time.

Giants fan. The offense was good in the short season last year, so I thought that if the pitching came through, they would be able to challenge for (but ultimately fall short of) a second playoff spot with around 85 wins. But that was my idea of a dream season. If I had to pick a win number at the beginning of the season, I'd have said 75 and felt I was being optimistic. I'm not coming back on anybody who picked the Giants for 3rd or 4th - I don't think anyone could defend picking the D-Backs over them, but that's about it.

I know i am a Phillies fan but how is this true "other than Wheeler they are okay" Kyle Gibson has an era of 3.71. Aaron Nola has an era of 4.64. Ranger Suarez has an era of 1.36.

I called the Padres not making the postseason and having an underwhelming season. It was obvious that they still lacked depth. People were going off on me in the comments but I was right lol

I totally called the Braves beating the Brewers. Everyone said I was crazy, but I knew the brewers lack of hitting was going to be their downfall especially when going up against the Braves powerful hitting corps.

MLB The Show had the Mets winning which makes sense if Degrom and Thor were healthy. And Lindor as good as he is in MLB The Show just sometimes carries. I was iffy about your pick but it wasn't a reach imo. The chips didnt fall into place especially with the Rotation.

As a Cubs fan I really didn't expect the outcome of what happened in the season. We were in first place and blew it. Lost 11 games in a row twice in 2 months. We're up 7-0 2 times and ended up losing. It's pretty bad. Hope that next year we have better pitching but, that's like asking for a million dollars for Christmas. Good luck for 2022 for the Cubs. I guess the Mets also.

I don't think anyone expected much of the Giants but good God did they surprise everyone. All throughout the off season, all the talk was about the dodgers and padres. Hell, even the first series everyone was talking about "NLCS battle" and I think when the cracks began to form was after the sticky stuff scandal. Padres pitchers basically forgot how to pitch in the second half. Giants outplayed two salary juggernauts in the regular season

The Jays were to be in any other division they would be 1st maybe 2nd, but AL east is the wild, wild, east. Tough division.

Marc Rocco will be back. Injuries and bad pitching hurt us all year. He put the pitching in good spots earlier in the year and they just didn’t perform. If they get some pitching this off-season we will be back competing next season

I hope that the brewers are able to figure out their offense, but right now it’s not looking great

I was either hit or miss, I had harper for NL MVP but Luis Castillo and Kenta Maeda for my cy youngs.

As a Giants fan I had no idea that we were gonna be the team with the best record in baseball going into the playoffs and like every other Giants fan I also had no faith in Gabe Kapler but he proved a lot of people wrong

I had Lucas Giolito on my fantasy team and he was actually pretty good for me overall so I don’t know why this season was looked at as a bad season for him

No joke, everyone was thinking the Rockies would be the worst team, but not going to lie, they kinda proved everyone wrong, yes they weren't 500 but they did have a good season.

It sucks that the Brewers got very cold in the last two weeks of the season and into the postseason, if they didn't get cold they almost definitely would have played way better against the Braves and would have scored way more than two runs against them.
