Hungary celebrating the win against Scotland wasn't weird. They would have gone through if Georgia didn't beat Portugal and not many people expected that to happen.
The Irish guy has a 50/50 split with his wild predictions either they’re VERY wrong and make him look like a sack (Ipswich) or they make him look like a genius (Germany in the euros)
20:05 Actually, the fact that Portugal had won against Turkey settled Portugal's first place. In the Euros games against the direct rival count more than goal difference, so goal difference wouldn't have made any difference.
He was talking about if Portugal drew the first match and if that had happened then Portugal would have come 3rd due to Georgia beating them head to head
@@LockersofBananastrue but I also feel like he praised the Georgian's win over Portugal like Portugal actually had something to play for in the match (when really they had already won the group). I'm not trying to belittle Georgia's achievement but it's probably part of the reason they beat Portugal so convincingly.
Portugal wasn't close to bottling first place though. The first place was already guaranteed after the 2nd game since the main factor of a tie is the H2H
@@Joey_Rodgers that was a 4 way tie , there was no way to use H2H in those circumstances since Romania beat Ukraine who beat Slovakia who beat Belgium who beat Romania , so the second tiebreaker applied instead. Portugal and Spain already have won their groups after MD 2
1:21 I assure you, we were cheering every throw in and every goal kick we won before going behind to Germany, when they had the first penalty overturned and the 5th goal disallowed, and the place totally erupted when we made it 4-1, it wasn't any less celebrated than our opener against the Swiss😂
I don't get how so many people are overvaluing Georgia right now. They did great getting out of groups, nobody can take that away from them. But they did so in the weakest group. Their win against Portugal is more indicative of how bad Portugal is rather than how strong Georgia is. Meanwhile Spain was never in doubt of winning in their three matches.
I had to Google it because I thought we also had qualified in the 96, but nope, half the team were regulars in Champions League knock outs(including semi final) and the striker was European golden boat winner. But they couldn't qualify over bloody Scotland...
@@JC1145YT I mean we fought well enough considering Ianis was bleeding since the 2nd minute, we had to play our 3rd choice LB for most of the match and Zwayer stopped a counter for no reason and gave us a yellow for complaining about it at 1-0 but yeah, we got dominated from the 30th minute on and Netherlands are deserved winners
Portugal played with a rotated team against Georgia because they %99 guaranteed 1st place, so if they didn’t pull that goal, they probably would have played their first team and probably win
So far its Switzerland 2-0 Italy, Germany 2-0 Denmark, England 2-1 Slovakia and finally Spain 4-1 Georgia England meet Switzerland in the Quarter Final and Germany see Spain that will be s tense match
Every tournament Croatia is in they seem to get stopped by a new Nishimura...honestly I can't wait for a scandalous decision to finally go their way against a big nation to see the meltdown
@heIIbIazer oh so Nishimura is just known to be a bad ref around the world 😂. That's good to know since he robbed us of an Asian champions league win after a 15 year drought in 2015 and we still use his name whenever there is bad refereeing
Thinking Portugal is going out only shows he didn’t watch the games. Sure a 2-0 against Georgia isn’t a good look but that was the b squad in a completely different formation and style of play.
100% and then it would have been completely different, that Portugal team that faced Georgia had nothing to gain as well as they were guaranteed 1st place
Portugal had already guaranteed 1st after the Turkey game because direct confrontation is a tie breaker before goal differential. Roberto Martinez said after the Turkey game that he would be rotating players on the Georgia game and that's exactly what he did. Only 3 of the starters were from the main team, Ronaldo, Palhinha and Diogo Costa. Now you can argue that Portugal's 2nd team should've also won and I do agree, but that win doesn't really mean they're able to beat Spain now
100% agree. And also I don't think that Portugal side had the same hunger and even if they did you could see the Chem wasn't fully there just like Portugal's first game, whist Georgia had already had prep so yeah completely different conditions
