The Irish Guy takes a look at what he would have predicted the next 20 years to be, for every Premier League club back in 2004. Business enquiries: irishguybusiness@gmail.com
That shit made me feel really old since I was attending my first Liverpool game in 1984 lol the original Great Dane Jan Molby is the reason I support them
This feels like a video the Irish Guy was meant to do in 2024 but couldn't wait. I can't wait till next week when he does his 2024/25 PL season review.
In 2004 i thought my club (Leeds) would be dead in the next 5 years or struggling in League 1 or even lower. Its been a rough 20 years but its definitely better than i expected
As a Liverpool fan I have to say I am very happy. We definitely should and could have won more but considering we nearly went into administration and were a mid table team before Jürgen Klopp arrived, I am grateful for the trophies we have won and finally winning the PL has lifted a huge burden off the fans and Club’s shoulders. And thanks to the infrastructure put in place by our owners we can compete for trophies almost every season now. So yeah I’m pretty happy.
So you predicted Arsenal to win 10 league titles, Chelsea to win 8 league titles, Liverpool to win 1 league title, Man United to win about 5 titles, Newcastle to win (maybe tbf) 1 title - so a total of 24 or 25 titles in the span of 19 years? You really weren't the brightest kid
Unpopular opinion, but if United had given Moyes the money, patience, and naive optimism they gave Ole or Erik they'd have won at least one title under him. Moses is a good manager and develops players well, Fergie knew this, he just wasn't immediately *peak* Sir Alex so United fans threw a temper tantrum.
I'm not sure the optimism Ole or Erik got could be considered Naive. ETH has the best first 50 PL games of any United manager ever and Oles interim spell United were almost unstoppable. The optimism was justified, its the outcome that disappointed
I remember people saying moyes transfer targets were stupid in 2014 but if he got some of the players he wanted (Kroos, Baines, Schweinsteiger when he was good etc) then yeah he probably could’ve built something good. But instead they gave him Fellaini.
Moyes has had 466 million at West Ham, ages to get everything in place, and when we got turned over by villa was full of gushing praise about how far ahead of us they were and we're still building, probably cos he didn't get to waste a fortune on Maguire and Mactominay?! He brought in felaini himself, the man has 1 plan, substitutes so often exactly the same time each second half you can set your watch by him, no, man Utd wouldn't have won anything, any expansive player would be miserably getting the skill and joy coached out of them to be the leakiest bus parking team ever....
In 2004 I was watching Post Abramovich Chelsea start wrecking house in the Prem, it was also the year in which my team Southampton started to decline :/ (until they came back with a bang 9 years later).
I thought the video was going to show things like a picture of a little Irish Guy making the predictions, or some notes he wrote back then or something
In 2004 I don't think Brucie was poised to take over for SAF. The big assumption at the time was Martin O'Neill. So... despite his high stock at the time, overall definite phew there.
If you’d ask me in november 2004 what would happen in the prem I would have shrugged as I hd just been told I had a few months left to live. It’s been 228 months and counting.
@JamesSt.Patrick-wj1xl I know, I was 9 lol. I thought whoever scored more goals was better. And in about February, Glenn Murray had scored 30 goals and Messi and Ronaldo had scored around 28.

I mean, I had some horrible predictions, like EXPECTING Andre Schurrle to be a world class player no matter what even if he left Chelsea... And the same for Oscar... And the same for Diego Costa... And the same for Hazard...
