I thought I was the only one who loves but at the same time hates reading reviews of my favourite books. It opens your mind to new perspectives, but it also feels awful.😂
*queen of doggos* same of all the books here I’ve only finished BLLB and listening to that review made me clutch my chest and die laughing(cause it’s actually kinda true) at the same time
“gansey nags like a cranky old woman.” IM S C R E E C H I N G !!!!!!!!! when you tried to console yourself with your “everyone has their own opinion” mantra I choked 😂😂😂
Aoife Kavanagh our secondary/ high school lasts till we’re 16 but we legally have to be in education (sixth form/apprenticeship) and sixth form is one of our options to study at for two years
1. This is hilarious to watch 2. This is the first time I heard Maggie Stiefvater's name being said out loud and it's so confusing to me because Stiefvater is the German word for stepfather and we pronounce it so differently 😂
@@leahflaherty9756 im pretty sure its supposed to be pronounced the german way, but since her family probably has been non-german for centuries they probably just forgot how to pronounce it correctly themselves - happens often with Americans
logs are grade 12 stuff in our curriculum. we just did em. they're, in simplest terms, an exponential function written in a different way, and they're used to solve exponential functions.
I don’t even leave reviews on goodreads 😂 I just give it stars and leave but I do like to read others opinions, I just never know how to put into words why I liked or disliked a book 🙃
I don't like the people that make this video and complain about others "not getting the point of the book" because it makes me uncomfortable, but Kat, I LOVED YOUR TAKE ON IT. It was funny but respectful. Like, you didn't attack anyone for not realizing something was a bloody metaphor, and these reviews were HILARIOUS!!!
this is such a good video idea! also, i love BLLB but that one summary was kind of on point? lolol it's weird how i can agree with someone but what they didn't like about the book didn't bother me
I love reading 1 star reviews even of books I like because there's just so much sass waiting to be read. On another note I don't think I'm ever going to read Radio Silence because it is not a book for me. I have been out of high school for almost a decade so most of the emotions and issues no longer apply or appeal to me so I'm better off not touching it.
i loved how you lowkey agreed about the comments on the first books, but as soon as you got into radio silence it was just PAIN. NO YOU'RE SO WRONG. i did this to myself too (not exactly sure why, but it happened). it HURTS. like actual suffering. didn't expect that. and there weren't even compelling arguments, just people saying how much they loathe my favourite book. i cried real tears. got really defensive, but like. everyone's entitled to their own opinion
This was so fun. I do the same thing (both with books I love and books I hate). It also reminds me that goodreads (and ratings) shouldn't be taken that seriously. People legit be giving 1 star because they hate green and the cover has some of it. Or my favorite, "read half- page, is meh". I like to stick to booktubers with similar tastes to mine.
Loved this! I'd be terrified of doing this myself since reading even semi negative reviews of books I love but read a long time ago might have the power to change my mind, which is very easily persuaded. I guess if I don't have SOLID, STRONG feelings for a book my opinion might change if someone puts their argument cleverly in front of me
When people don't like or just not interested in books I like, I don't feel offended or personally attacked. I just feel so frustrated and sad that they are missing out on something that I think is just REALLY wonderful! I like very few books as well, and when I like them, I don't just like them, I LOVE THEM. Books like Watership Down, or My Family and Other Animals, or The Little Prince. So when folks are like...."MEH" even before giving it a SHOT I feel just heartbroken at what they're missing out on.
Honestly, the vibes you have in this video are how I feel when I watch your other videos sometimes. But I always think it's fun to see other people's reactions to books, because people take different things from them and experience them in different all which I feel is one of the reasons why novels are such a unique medium. And it's also why I keep watching your videos, even if on occasion crush my soul. lol I love watching your videos, even if I don't always agree. Please don't change. Your honesty is so great
I'm glad I watched this video because I was in the middle of becoming a sheep. Luckily this video came along and stopped that from happening. Grateful.
I gave Alaska five stars when I read it about 5 years ago, I really need to re-read it and see if I still feel the same. tbh, I think I'll eye-roll throughout the entire book.
Ik it's too late but I read Radio Silence very recently (it's one of my comfort books, I have only two and this is the 2nd one) I tried to read all the 1 star reviews but majority of them were hating on Frances and that hurt me because I relate to Frances a lot and people were calling her arrogant and whiny and it just made me question myself. So it literally hurts and I do understand where people come from when they have an unpopular opinion on my other favourite books, but Radio Silence is literally so perfect, I can't even wrap my mind around some of their reviews TT
The (mock) synopsis: *Yeaaaa..Ronan hangs out in the background. He dreams some lamps into reality. And Adam hugs trees. He generally asks permission first.* lmao Guess what tho I don’t give a shit.. I still love that series with my entire being
Honestly I won’t read one star reviews. I read a one star review for shatter me and it changed my whole perspective of the book then I didn’t enjoy the rest of the series. I was actually enjoying it until the point I read the review. I will not be reading restore me and onwards due to that review changing my whole perspective
this was honestly hilarious, please do a part 2!!! also, i'm currently reading radio silence because of you and i'm loving it sO MUCH????? thank you for talking about it so passionately, i would probably never have found it otherwise!
Oh my god this is the best idea (don’t mind me stealing it ✌🏻) Oooooohhhhh LORDD BLUE LITTLE LITTLE BLUE IM SCREAMING Also reading my own negative reviews would be interesting too 😂😂
omg, i legit just randomly watched this video, the only book that I'd heard of was looking for Alaska, but I haven't read it. Then, Then Radio Silence was pulled out. LIKE, How is there even a bad review for that book! It's actually my favourite contemporary novel, I love the writing style and it covers actual important issues that are being faced by many of the readers. I fkn love that book. Alices novels are the only really good contemporarys, that I've found anyways, that aren't based around love. ANyways.
I laughed so hard I literally can't breathe 😭😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂How dare she come for Maggie's writing like that? How dare she shade Sarah J. Mass like that???😂😂😂😂
I do this as well but I go on imdb and read the 1 star user reviews for either my favourite films or films that are very art house or political. It's a fun filled yet frustrating time, I recommend looking at paranorman, get out, and blakkklansman.
As a writer I absolutely love this channel. It thrills me to see that there are people who love reading this much, who are this emotionally affected by literature. Makes it all worthwhile.
I’m not going to finish this video because I’m too emotionally attached to Radio Silence to read bad reviews. I didn’t even read any reviews except Kat’s because I was so worried they would ruin the book for me
I love some very dumb books for nostalgia purposes, and I can even agree with negative reviews because I know they are just bad books, but I love them anyway for whatever reason and I cannot read bad reviews lol
the way you feel about looking for alaska is exactly how I feel about the fault in our stars. it wouldn't be the first book I would recommend to someone and I do get why some people don't like it but at the same time it's important to me for quite a few reasons
I recently read Radio Silence, because of how much you liked it! Let's just say that now I can understand why...It's such an awesome book! Also, loved this video!
I hated Looking for Alaska lol. I like a lot of John Green books but that one didn't do it for me. I never really understood why any of the characters liked Alaska she wasn't very nice.
Ok but like this was just as entertaining as reading negative reviews of books I hated. I also really loved Blue Lilly Blue and you know also get this type of camaraderie when disagreeing on someone’s opinion. This was all very entertaining
