Okay okay okay. The stories of Team Sky in Hisuian did not spread in Sinoh, it spread Hoenn. Think about it Team Magma heard stories of the evil team on the Wyrdeer and Sneazler which obviously means the land is the best while Team Aqua says no the evil leader on the Basculegion so obviously the sea is the best. The true name of the evil team was lost in history. Then a young Mikey having to deal with these two decided to form the TRUE evil team Team Sky. And then he had to be sent back in time when he was in Sinoh due to closeness of location so he could cause the stories that would ultimately lead to his formation.

I'm gonna defend Mikey here: Using ride Pokemon that aren't flying isn't inconsistent, it's pragmatic. Wyrdeer lets Mikey get around faster, Ursaluna finds useful items, Basculegion you have to use as part of the story so he didn't have a choice, ditto Sneasler. It's not his fault the game doesn't let you fly until the final act. His thing with Gyarados isn't inconsistent, it's character development. The run where he spurned it was his first, then he started second guessing that judgement in later runs before being flung to the past where he saw first hand that it was indeed a creature of the sky.

Honestly, no matter which Decidueye you end up getting, it loses its flying type. Michael should've seen this coming. Although...Has he already done a Team Sky-playthrough of the Alola-region? If not, the screw-up is at least acceptable as long as he stays in-character.
