My girlfriend and I stayed in this exact house in January 2018 for 10 days when we were in Siargao. We just happened to type in Siargao on RU-vid to see the storm damage and we came across your video and we were absolutely shocked that you are staying in the same exact place. We have so many memories there. When you showed the dad it brought back so many memories. He is so hardworking and a really nice person. We are so glad that you all are okay.
You are pillars of light in Siargao and you can help re-build the community there. There’s a greater purpose of why you guys are there for such a time as this. God bless you!! ✨🏝👏🏻💯
To Jay and family: We're deeply honoured and thankful that you chose and decided to stay and live in our country. We're deeply saddened though with the devastation that you also experienced there in Siargao with the onslaught of the typhoon Odette. But don't despair, God is good, and He shall provide the help that all of you there direly need. Just keep faith and Please take care still. You are a good family and we in the Philippines welcome you and your family with open arms and open heart. My prayers for you and your family and for the Filipino people there. God bless you all.
Prayers also from Indonesia.. Just see this.. We who live in dangerous zone must band together.. The people must be together to be strong.. 🙏 Hope you can get through it safe and sound...
Filipino are resilient they always see a light in the dark they will bounce back stronger just be safe in no time they will be back in their feet Filipino are very RESOURCEFUL
From someone that has survived a cat 5 hurricane, I can tell you to have faith, your live will go back to normal and and you will come up much stronger on the other side of this tragic event. Be there for your family and your neighbors, they will play a very important roll in your life on this moments of recovery. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during these difficult times.
Sir be strong like Filipinos!I pity you as I watch your vlog, but I can't do anything for what had happened!!Just trust God that all of us can recovered soon! I can help you thru prayers Sir,may God provide all your needs!! But still I salute you for being strong!!!God bless you with strength and good health!!!!
This is a common sight in the Philippines, we are the shield of asia when it comes to typhoons. I've always attributed the fact that the Philippines is so awfully prone to natural calamities that contribute to the fatalistic optimism of the people because that is the only way to move forward.
Jay, you will soon find out how resilient Filipinos are, look around you, everything will back to normal within a year. As for the coconut trees, they will replenish themselves. Humans did not put them there, it was mother nature itself and mother nature will heal itself.
@@rodbayan9974 He didn't mean only filipino's, but he meant "how" resilient filipino's are when catastrophe happens to our country. After something bad happens, we come together to help eachother with rebuilding our communities and etc.
Please stay strong, Jay, Sasha and Story. Hope that the Good Lord will help you and our kababayans will be resilient and have that 'hope' and spirit of goodness in your heart remain to overcome this big challenge ahead.🙏
@@michelleg.4587 ... well, what choice do you have when a lot of politicians in the philippines are corrupt .... you gotta be mentally tough & be a positive ..... I heard duterte allocated billions of pesos for the rehab of this island ...... hopefully, every single peso will go to the rehab projects & not a lot will go to corrupt politicians' bank accounts (with different names ... (😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂) ..... & lastly,I pray that the corned beef will not turn into sardines too ...... you know what I'm saying ....... .
Your windows were vulnerable to strong wind because they're too wide and no permanent partitions in between. External concrete frames around it will also help cut the entire impact of the wind. I really hope you recover soon. I'm one of the Yolanda (2013) survivors as well, this is relatable and painful to watch. It brings back the terrifying memories. It feels like it happened just yesterday. 😥
good thing you are all alright. don't worry, more help will come. Filipinos survive by HELPING HANDS, POSITIVE MINDSET, and SMILE regardless of the situation. we come back stronger than ever. :) By the way, that SMILE from Story is the start of your HOPE. Mabuhay Siargao!!!
Looking on how story do the vlog, i kinda think she adjusted to the Filipino resiliency. No matter how bad it is, there still a smile on her face like what most Filipinos do.
Cebu was devastated and I can’t even begin to imagine what Siargao and the neighboring Islands have gone through. But the resiliency of Filipinos will always rise through this. I hope you all are doing just okay despite the problema with water and electricity.
The most important thing is that you are all alive and well, material things can be replaced, but not lives. I'm sure you and all of Siargao and everyone affected by the typhoon will recover. God bless!
Could not help but cry with you, Jay!! I feel your pain and anguish!!! Be strong for your family - they need you more than ever!!! Hugs and kisses from San Francisco, California USA!!!
Filipino will recover, we are used to disaster and we always bounce back. One step at a time before you know it everything will be back to normal. I am glad you guys are ok, you can always replace material things but not a life. Still count your blessings even in a disaster.
I experienced this kind of devastation during the Yolanda. Filipinos are resilient and I know they will rise up and recover. Happy New Year to all! God Bless the Philippines. 😎👍
J, Sacha and Story, I feel that you are really genuine people who truly love the Philippines. You have my respect and I am your forever fan, when everyone leaves, you stayed. And yo respectnthe Filipino people. I salute you!!!
We feel for you guys. You are blessed to have made through that terrifying ordeal. Your daughter is an absolute joy to se and hear. Absolutely brilliant child. You’ll pull through this but it’s gonna be a very big task to do so.
@Philball and who in their decent mind decided to not evacuate from their home located by the shore? I think you took the comment literally. Resilient, in win com's sentence, means being persevering in times of difficulty. Resilient in his/her statement does not refer to an act of standing still against a strong gush of wind by the shore. Be analytical before and cautious about commenting next time.
You are Very Brave, i m afraid of storms i would never be able to stand this one single time , i m from Brazil and any small storm is enough to make me cry
Resiliency is not a good thing and shouldn't be seen in a positive light. What we should do as 'Filipinos' is to improve infrastructure, invent things that will help us protect against storms. Build things that will complement storms, especially a way of harnessing a great deal of energy from these storms. We should be more productive, not resilient.
Don't worry sir, help will come soon. The Filipinos are brave and resilient. We will cry in a moment, but soon will realize that we need to move on, smile, and rebuild again. Get hope and strength to Filipinos. Talk to them. Let's be thankful to our creator that we survived and surpassed the Typhoon.
Your daughter is so absolutely precious! I cried so hard during these last few videos you guys made! My heart and love it's being sent to all of you on the island and hoping you will make a speedy recovery and please know that you are in our hearts. Videos like this I definitely wants the entire infomercial so this video is taking me a little over 3 hours to watch☺
The pros and cons of living in the Philippines an island,! I was born in Manila now living in dallas Texas I have experienced typhoons, earthquakes, cyclones, floods, disasters, coups, etc yet FILIPINOS are resilient and will rise up again 🇺🇲❤️🇸🇽 God bless the Philippines
You've survived life in Philippines! After this experience, you will never, never get scared ever again to any kind of strong typhoons thrown at you especially the young lady. It's a life rare experience! Very brave family indeed.
Typhoons have been a part of the Filipinos lives...sometimes it's so-so and sometimes it's worst than you can imagine... Glad that your family are safe, take care and stay healthy to all...
Story has become a very resilient kid she’s definitely an eastern girl 🥰 Thinking of you and the the Filipino people affected by this horrendous disaster! ♥️♥️
Let us give this British family love and respect as Filipinos where love by British. So many Filipinos are well off now in UK. You could survive that catastrophy as you did in Portugal and Thailand, Filipino survived during Spanish and Japanese occupation.
It's heartbreaking when Jay started talking about how he survived an earthquake in Thailand, forest fire in Portugal, and now this typhoon in the Philippines.
Crying again seeing Jay in bits the poor love. Then seeing Sash in the same way. Story your a trooper it’s lovely to see you smile with all that’s going on at the moment in your head & world. Let’s help these guys out. Much love guys xxx
I don't know how I found Y'all this morning, but I am grateful I clicked on your videos. I'm already in love with your family! Unfortunately I came across your channel during a horrible time, but it is times like these that reveal a person's True Colors. Y'all are wonderfully kind, pure-hearted people. Thanks for sharing your experience with us! You will recover, even Stronger 💫💪🌈 💖🙏💕
When news first came out saying that Siargao would be directly hit, your family immediately came to my mind. I prayed "oh God please keep them safe". I only got a sigh of relief when your friend (Sanny?) featured you in her video. Knowing the resiliency of Filipinos, they are together with you in bringing everyone's life back to normal. EIGHT MILES FROM HOME will come back STRONGER, and SIARGAO will RISE UP AGAIN.
The Filipino people are one of the most resilient in the entire world. We bounce back from the worst disasters with even more strength. You will ALL rebuild! Keep strong!!
I’m so sorry for the devastation y’all went through and are going through now. I hope everyone on the island gets the help they need and utilities are back up soon.
I was crying along with you while you’re showing the whole place, until your sweet little girl started talking with a very positive attitude, a beautiful smile and she’s just so adorable.❤️😍She’s a sunshine to you guys. Sending hugs and prayers to you all. Stay safe. Gods Blessings.
Be thankful that you’re family’s safe. We Filipinos overcome every storm that comes our life. I was like that too when I was still in the Philippines after every typhoon/storm passes the devastation was so overwhelming that I can’t seem to process everything where and how to start but Filipinos are resilient we stand up and build again that’s life.
On a positive note, you'll get to experience Pilipino resiliency firsthand. This will make you stronger in times of calamities like this. Everything in life is temporary we'll never know what will happen the next day just live our life one day at a time and let's cherish every moment that we have, life goes on we can all recover from this, slowly but we will.
in this kind of situation, you will find how resilient Filipinos are. Its ok to cry now but you will see them collecting the pieces and rebuilding again. you will be stronger than ever. SENDING BIG HUGS
I am in awe that Jmayel's reaction is to immediately do something to give back to the Filipino people of Siargao.... to help out. Instead of a flight reaction, he chooses to fight this out. Such a good soul! Though, somehow I would feel more comfortable that they prioritize their family first because there is only so much they can do. The help the island is getting is for immediate needs but to fully commit their entire aspirations and hopes to the island would be a long haul that will test and break them. Part of me wants to see them succeeding to reclaim their investments in Siargao but I also want them to recuperate and find their bearings first again outside the island. Recovery of Siargao will take many months of hard work. Bless the 8MFH family and Papang's family too.
You'll be fine. Things happen that we can't control.keep yourself together keep your love for your family. By the grace of God you'll be fine. We feel your pain😔💐❤️
Im teary eyed watching Jay and Sacha crying. So sad I cant believe what this island looks horrible after the typhoon. I been with many typhoons in Phil. I never seen this bad. I can totally understand your pain Jay. You work so hard to build your lives with family and this happens. Hope the whole island can recover soon. Praying for all your safety.
It also happened here in Western Visayas when part of our province was severely hit by Yolanda, first sight was terrifying and heartbreaking you wouldnt know how people could recover but after a year I visited the place, everything is back to normal as if nothing happened at all. I'm sure Siargao wil rise again.
Do they still get paid if you don’t see the ads because of your ad free YT subscription? Idk how that works, haven’t seen an ad since I signed up for that a few years ago
@@brucemunro7499 Are you being serious right now?! Their family just got their whole entire home and community blown away and you have the audacity to speak ill of them here…right now?!?! Give me a break!! This speaks more volumes of you than it does of them! Get out of here with that crap!
Story is the real story in this devastation. It seems she came through this typhoon with amazingly positive attitude. I'm going to chalk it up to great parenting. As Jessa Soliano posted, story is a "ray of sunshine". Some people see the glass half empty and some see it half full. Story see's the glass full to the brim. That way of looking at life when things have gone horribly wrong will serve her well as an adult. Story reminds me of Titanic's "Unsinkable Molly Brown". We all really need a person like that in times of crisis to give Hope and a Ray of Sunshine.
Sending prayers and healing to your family… We’re relieved that you’re all doing fine. We’re also affected by the typhoon in Cebu. May God guide us all and give us strength to carry on.
My prayers for your family to recover from this traumatic experience and with lord's help build a safer and stronger home so that once you will enjoy the beauty and serenity of Siargao! Praise the lord everybody is safe from harm and that is the thing that matters!
This is just so soul staggering. Praying for Siargao...that the trauma, shock and terror of this experience be resolved quickly. Peace be with you in the recovery. Let us all try to help guys, even if it's just by not skipping ads. Please....
It is blessing that J is a handyman and he's able to fix things around the house. And Story is showing some talent in front of the camera. She may like to be a TV reporter when she grow up🤩 Thinking of you guys, so glad you are all safe.
Jay, the damage is all material things and can all be replaced in time. Be happy you still have your family and none of you were hurt. It's devastating to see but rejoice you all seen the sunrise. I heard the Filipino people are strong people they'll help one another and you get it all straightened out. I'm praying for the Phillipines for help and strength to rebuild their homes and towns. Love from the Hopi Tribe, First Mesa, AZ. Michelle Carl
Appreciation and love to Jay,Sasha and Story ..oneness after the tragedy and has easily recovered..Siargao will rise again with a good government we have now. Stay Safe Always..
Joyce Apilan. -. Appreciate your positivity but I can't agree on "good government", I hardly think so ! But surely the people and their paradise will rise again thanks to their strong will and innate resiliency. In the words if JFKennedy - " ask not what your country can do for you...." and completed in the perspective of Philippine political leadership..." ask what you can do for ... (yourself) .....sigh !!! Praying for everyone and may God bless us all even in the US where there have natural disasters in many states as well.
The good government aren't even there in a week. It's a shame there aren't any low level drug pushers/ users on siargiao they're aware of as they are very efficient at killing them. Perhaps if "Duterte Harry' applied himself to this and other natural disasters the way he did offing drug addicts they might get somewhere.
@@willsmith39 I guess you've never lived in a developing country that has been constantly been struck by natural disasters. They simply do not have enough funds, man power or equipment to be there ASAP. The Philippines is also an archipelago which makes it harder to travel especially during a typhoon. The storm might have passed but it doesn't mean the ocean is calmer. Even the US is slow at responding and we're supposedly a first world nation. 😑🙄
@@Moss_piglets I live in a developing country right now so you are not terrific at guessing as well as being clearlly challenged at recognising good governance. Our government leaves much to be desired but at least we are not run by a murderous thug.
My heart breaks for everyone affected by the typhoon. Grateful you are alive and now for that pioneer mindset will help you take the next steps to recovery of body and soul. Much love and prayers coming your way.
Be strong 8milers...we can never win against nature when it is there time to come but in return it makes us realize how blessed we are making it through. Scars will remain, trauma will be skitched in our lives but there is always a promise of a ray of hope after a storm..... I feel you and all of those affected, God bless!!!!
In the coming days, you will see the resilience of the Filipino people... This is JUST a typhoon, we are FILIPINOS. Stay safe Eight Miles, and Godbless your family always.
Easy for you to say about resiliency when you're just sitting in your home comfortably.🙄 Misplaced pinoy pride just for good look points to foreigners. Resiliency my arse. Pretty sure in the coming days some of our people are still crying for help.
I'm so glad I seen your video, but my heart was broken to see the devastation, brought tears to my eyes I prayed for you and your family, also all the precious people there. Made me feel so thankful for what I have I'm from the U.S. of America Trust in God He will get you through, one day at a time There's always hope Lord be with you all and give you strength and courage through this I appreciate your video, I'm just thankful you and your family made it through this, you're all alive Keep helping one another and things will work out Take care
Hi Jay and Sasha, I know how you guys felt. Back then, we also experienced the same thing, the super typhoon came at almost midnight and it blew all the windows in our room in the second floor, our rooms were flooded and we have to clean everything... my mom was crying nonstop while my dad is pulling the windows in but to no avail... no electricity for weeks, no food, the only thing working was the radio -- we are thankful for a few canned sardines, rice and dried fish for us to eat. But with God's grace, we also recovered and came out stronger. We build stronger frames for our windows, fixed our roofs, and cleaned our house... I know in faith, this too shall pass, and that you will come back as stronger people... Filipinos' humanity and will is always strong. Please be strong!
Been crying watching your two last vlogs. My heart aches seeing all the destruction and suffering this typhoon has left. I am glad your family is safe. It will take time, but I am sure things will slowly somewhat improve again for all those affected. Just don’t loose hope.
The little girl is so so cute, beautiful, I love the WAY she talks, she makes me smile, Iam very very sorry of what happened, Praying for you guys, I know this is so terrible, Please hang on, God is always Good. One at a time, I know it will take forever to rebuild everything but the most important right now, is that you have each other and your beautiful daughter and your dog are OK. Praying for you that things will get better. Hangin there, there’s hope.
It was really great to see your daughter still chatty and cheerful. I was really aftaid she might have been traumatized with the incident.. Thank God you guys are alright. material things can be replaced, be strong!
It's okay guys. There's sunshine after the rain. Story, you're the sunshine of your family. Your ray of light keeps shining. Keep it bright, okay? We're just happy to know your ok. You will recover. It's ok that progress is slow. As long as you're alive and healthy, that's what really matters. Right? God bless u Siargao.
It is so sad to watch the aftermath of the typhoon but something to thank about is that you all are safe please hang in there, know that we are here to support your beautiful family, sending much love and prayers your way and all those who are affected by the typhoon.
I feel bad for Jay and Sasha.. it was heartbreaking and was almost crying to see you all hurting and scared at the moment of the impact to your home. Your family is such a light and hope. That I know you will get through on this trials because of your positivity in life. Thank you to your family and you truly proven more on how you love Philippines so much. 💕 Praying for your family and the whole affected areas for recovery and healing 🙏 ❤
Just lost for words right now. Happy that you guys survived but am very very sad for the people affected by the storm. Stay strong, look after Siargao. Story is a bundle of hope for everyone. I am grateful for all your help. Stay safe.
It’s sad to see Jay breakdown (it’s been a few days) like that! We are all human! Jmayel, u will be ok. I hope you remembered to gather the coconuts to drink coconut water!
My family’s heart’s and prayers are with yours. The destruction seems so absolute, but hang in there we are with you guy’s. It’s time to rebuild and heal. We will be praying for you and everyone else.
Don't lose hope and be more, resilient like the locals, what is important is that everyone is safe and no casualties. The more you experience this kind of calamity and disaster, you'll be more stronger and praise. Explain to your family that this is just a challenge and everything will be part of your life journey.Things that are destroyed are just material things and can be replaced but your life and safety is the most important. God bless you all...
I wouldn't say "no casualties". Unfortunately, over 400 are dead and that toll is expected to rise significantly. This may also surpass Bopha in damages. Resilience can only do so much after repeatedly losing everything. Obviously time will pass and people will rebuild but for how much longer is the question.
With over 7,000 islands in the Philippines and the fact that you're there, there is really a reason. We will watch your videos guys without skipping ads. God bless always! Merry Christmas! 🙏💕
Jay, you'll see how resilient we filipinos are, surely siargaonon people will definitely can get up after this typhoon... babangon ang mga siargaonon for sure. You're there for a reason for a purpose.. I know how it feels as I was a survivor of typhoon Yolanda here in leyte..God bless you guy's 🙏
Have teary eyed watching this. So sorry this happened to you and of course for those who are affected by Odette. - Im filipino too. My family in Cebu also got hit by Odette. Im thankful they are alive and safe. Damaged house etc. Cant imagine the hardship some of our countrymen has to go through. Thank You for Staying in our country and appreciating filipinos. Wishing you all the best and quick recovery from this ❤
I feel so sad and emotional watching you guys. We live in another island and we, too, are affected but not this much. We are one with you in this. Filipinos are very resilient people. Our faith in God is what keeps us moving on. We believed that we can always overcome this crisis. And in His time, things will get better. Hugs to your family.
It used to be a beautiful island and now it’s totally destroyed. Calamities are unpredictable that’s why you have to have emergency supplies, flashlights, water, canned foods , tents , blankets and others. I feel your pain brother and am so sad to see my country devastated like this.I feel helpless even if I send some help , it’s not enough to help everybody. I want to offer prayers for my fellow Filipinos and all those foreigners alike who are staying in the Philippines.May the Lord help each one of you recover from this devastation.
Even with the trees blown down at that place to me is still utterly breathtaking! To have a view like that and not have neighbors with barking dogs 10 feet to the left of my bed on either side and huge barking dogs across the street no more than 40 ft from my head it's like living a nightmare with no peace and quiet and continuous sirens and police cars and people speeding hundreds of miles an hour down the street yeah that place looks like paradise compared to Las Vegas.
Story’s spirit and mind copes so well and shines so brightly. I hope Jay and Sacha recovers from the trauma, you are such great partners and parents, and I really hope Siargao rises soon. I just left Siargao a week before Odette and seeing all the videos just puts me in utter disbelief and devastation for everyone there. After my month there, I have actually decided to make my home there within the next two years. Odette didn’t change my mind. If anything, I’m even more determined to be a permanent part of the Siargao community. For the meantime, we will be sending as much help as we can from here in Manila. Tindog, Siargao!
