REACTING TO SEASON 8 EPISODE 21 OF THE NEXT STEP 

Best thing about this episode for me was Carter Musselman’s acting when Heath broke down. He deserves all the praise purely for that scene. I just loved seeing Heath more vulnerable and broken because of his past mistakes still being used against him. I also love the fact that Kenzie is the one to support Heath and lift his spirits up by telling him that she believes in him and cares for him. It’s not only a nice continuation from their conversation in promising to fake it till they make it for the team’s sake but it also gives Heath the ammunition to stay strong and also rebuild his confidence. I think one improvement they should have made to this moment was to have the whole team doubt him and not just Daisy. Or at least nearly all of the team with the exception of Kenzie and Izzy. I agree with your suggestion about how they should have made it look like Heath was scheming again to give the team justification in doubting him which leads to a more natural breaking point for Heath. Obviously he’s valuing Daisy’s opinion the most because the writers are clearly building a romance story between them but I think if he had realised the entire team had still harboured doubts towards him then that would push him towards the edge even further to the point where a full breakdown would be understandable which would then lead to him wanting to leave TNS. Until Kenzie prevents him from doing so. That would make it even better. Like I got so engaged with the Daisy and Heath argument. Daisy’s actress is so good. And I just love the developing bond between Kenzie and Heath too. 10:40 - “KISS!” Lmaooo! Alishea! Please! I cannot deal with you😂😂😭 The Pete and Ethan scenes were cute. I do like the idea that Pete had to motivate the group in performing better with Ethan’s help to the point where Ethan changes his mind and actually wants to challenge them for real. That’s so in character for him. “I know I’m amazing so eat it up!”😂 But once again, a few directional changes and adjustments to improve these moments would be to have Xander, Anthony, Dylan and Jeht naturally argue instead of immediately giving Pete the cold shoulder. Maybe have one of them enthusiastically engage Pete with one of their ideas (Xander for example). Then Anthony or Jeht could interrupt and want Pete to hear their idea which then allows for a natural escalation of arguing to occur within the group as they fight over who gets to win over Pete. Then Pete can quietly back out and approach Ethan for help. I agree about Ebby deserving more dedicated time for preparing her solo instead of the fake trio dance, considering how important it is for Nationals, it’s a shame that her absence from the second half of this season is preventing us from seeing this. I love you’re still gunning for the group rehearsal😂 The only other main issue is that even when we nearly have every cast member together in an episode, there’s still not enough interactions between them which is desperately needed for the next season so we can see them properly develop as a team given that there’s not really enough time for them to do this with just half a season. It probably would have been a different story if the Season 7 B Troupe had become the official A Troupe as they were originally supposed to be (before the challenge took place). And I agree that Ethan deserves more material too. I loved the Pete and Ethan scenes. I’d love if we got more of them together.

I feel like Jude overreacted and the whole situation was blown out of proportion she could have just said that Cleo helped her and then they would choreograph together.

I really wish They could develop Izzy and Daisy friendship some more. They made it in season 8a but then they just forgot about it ig (I did too)

Honestly for me I wouldn't have wanted the Heath and Daisy arc done differently. Heath thought everyone had forgiven him and moved on. His breakdown is him wondering if anything he does ever mattered because they probably will never completely trust him again. Then comes the self loathing, maybe they are right not to trust him, maybe he should go before he hurts anyone else. He needed Kenzie to build him back up and to be his shoulder, for him to be able to look Daisy in the eye and finally say, if you don't want to trust me fine, but that's now your problem not mine.

Lmfao I’m glad I’m not the only one that thought Heath should have just owned himself getting into this. It’s going to take time to regain the trust of your team and some will be harder than others. I believe since Daisy hasn’t made it easy on him that he values her opinion the most and since she’s giving him a chance, Daisy doesn’t want to be played. I get it. But instead of Heath breaking down I would have actually liked if he remained strong in himself. He and Ozzy used to go to war every 5 seconds over stupidity, I feel like to have that kind of relationship with someone for such a long time that your personality has to be a little more hardened. So I would have expected Heath to just say “f**** it, I don’t care if you don’t like me, I’m done trying to prove myself. Let’s just do this dance and keep it moving.” I feel like that might have been more interesting to watch because I could still see Daisy feeling guilty like the writers clearly wanted, but it would kind of level them out. Instead of Heath giving 100% and getting back 30% from Daisy, they could be giving each other 60%-50% when it comes to trusting each other. Am I the only one that just does not like that group dance no matter what? I also feel like for a hip hop dancer Jett lacks personality and fluidity in her movements. She stands out in the group dance and not in the best way. Overall the dance is very lifeless. The energy level needed to be higher, the moves more sharp, the choreo more fluid. Not a good dance imo.

Your right baftas is only in britain now I wonder if they changed it to a Canadian awards ceremony in the canada showing of the episode and the same for other countries

If season 9 is confirmed and imagine if Alishea was writing that season, season 9 would probably be one of my favourites. She deserves it. Also, what will you be doing after reacting to all of the episodes? I do understand that you are very busy, so no pressure at all. 😊

Alishea what if luke from lost and found became a famous singer which would explain how Cleo and jude could dance to brave in season 7 because it's a already released song and would also explain why he wasent with the band in season 5

I would have liked it more if Winnie made a-troupe instead of Daisy. Then we could have had Winnie and Heath do the tap duet that Winnie coreographed in season 7 as he nationals duet. We could have had Heath try to rekindle their old friendship, but Winie just doesn't trust him anymore. I still like Daisy tho, she was one of my favourite new characters this season

I feel like it was just Heath's general self-esteem mixed in with what Daisy thinks, he betrayed his initial team, he kinda unfairly got a spot on the new team and had to prove himself for it and then still felt overshadowed by his old team cause he'd never really been allowed to grow there and now there's just another set back to his worth on this team.

The heath and daisy plot is used so much its like they are the focus of the season season 8 is coming to an end and they have only mainly showed heath and daisy like i wanna see the finals routine or ebbies solo the story line has all just been re used from season 1-3 they have to show some more rehersals before nationals
