In todays video I am reacting to the increasingly popular video “Squid Game VS Hamsterious All Amazing Challenges” In this video there are a series of hamster mazes that have been created with inspiration from the successful Netflix show “Squid Game”. The craftsmanship of these “games” is very detailed and has been recreated amazingly. However there are a lot of issues which occur when introducing hamsters into this situation and I will be talking through some of them today. Please DO NOT show any hate to the original creator as that was not my intention through creating this video. Instead I hope to help educate people who may not know that these types of “Hamster mazes” can be dangerous.

Y U E 'S S T O R Y
Yue was my Russian dwarf hamster. She was my first hamster and i loved her very much. From the moment i saw her i knew she was coming home with me. She started me on a journey of research and learning about correct hamster care and enrichment in attempts to better her life, my hamster education and make her the happiest she could be. She is the sole reason i started this RU-vid channel and i am so grateful to have so many videos and moments of her to look back on. Through lockdown, day to day life and mental health struggles she cheered me up and gave me a reason to smile everyday. She truly was a great pet and i will be forever thankful for the knowledge i learnt because of her. I miss you Yue, I love you always my little moon spirit. Xx
A L B U S' S T O R Y:
Albus is my male Syrian hamster. I decided i wanted to adopt a hamster in February 2021. i wanted to have the expirience of owning a different species of hamster so i opted for a syrian as i already had my Russian dwarf hamster, "Yue" at the time. I found an hamster adpotion advert for him on Pets4Homes and he came home with me shortly after. His story before life with me is not a sad one. He was very loved by his previous family and they also advocated for great and correct hamster care. He is a cheeky boy, more of a shy hamster and is incredibly friendly and i am happy to share his life journey with all of the hamster community. Xx

They could have definitely done this in a safer way. Like I make things like these for my hamsters with treats so they can be entertained when I take them out of their cage(I don’t take them out together they get to go out at different times) but I make sure everything is safe, it’s not hard at all tbh

Mine are more like tunnels and little obstacles to jump above of (made with safe glue and popsicles sticks) and they get a treat afterwards, I also am teaching them how to spin around when I signal them and then they get a treat. There are definitely safe things u can do that is safe, entertaining to ur hamster and an audience !

I genuinely cant understand why anyone would think this is ok? Even if you didn't know proper care surely you can see that this is incredibly dangerous and just wrong. If the creator can go through all that effort to make these mazes then why cant they put the same amount of effort into educating themselves on proper care and husbandry and instead make safe hamster videos?? Thank you for making this video and for helping educate people on proper care❤

Thank you so much for making this video - the behind the scenes video is so disturbing 😔. Most of the hamsters have some sort of fighting-related injury or some sort of illness (an eye injury, a bite mark, a ripped ear, and skin irritations to name just a few), and their owner justifies this by saying "they were like this when we got them from the pet shop", as if that somehow excuses the fact that they house their hamsters together. I don't believe their excuses for a second, given the fact that they literally put two different species together and forced them to fight - who in their right mind does that?! Not to mention the fact that young kids are being influenced by this - the comments are full of young kids defending them. It's so irressponsible.

@@TianiSimoneX Honestly, don't watch it if you're sensitive to videos showing neglect, it's SO much worse than what's shown in this one. They made it to try and clear their name or something, but ended up digging an even deeper hole by showing that their hamsters get abused both in and outside of their videos.

A few of the syrians was actually a baby as well. Probably only 5 weeks of age and theyve already been put through this awful maze. Wouldnt surprise me if they were bred there too. So horrible, especially that it is all done for views!

Not sure what the animal protection laws are in the country where this was made? But in the UK they’re breaking the law so Utube and Netflix or who ever shows it should be banned from doing so in the UK if the case is taken forward. Therefore I’ll report them let’s see if they take it down, I doubt it but worth a go. Thanks for letting us know, it’s awful animals are not toys.

I don't know what country they're in, but even if they were in the UK, I highly doubt they'd get prosecuted. Unfortunately, hamster/rodent neglect gets overlooked by the RSPCA quite a lot :/.

This is the first time I saw the squid game hamster version, it is so cruel, i hope no hamster gets injured during the process. The creator is horrible and i cannot imaging my baby there!!!!! Would freak me out so much!!

oh dear *zensured swearing*... WHY are people doing this...?! My stress level is so high rn after watching this. I had to cuddle my hamster after this... (its 5 am so its fine.. he is awake xD.... but why am i still awake?! 😅..) its esp terrfying, because TODAY i saw my hamster Shang BALANCING on the edge of his new sandbox which iiis about 20 cm (7,8 inches) high (instead of using the exit hole or the other side thats half this height *sighs*).. ... aaaaand I got a heart attack. I immedeatly plucked him off there.. and put him down and then secured the area around the box . (the box is in his playpen atm and will be transferred into his enclosure during his next monthly big cage-clean - where i can put bedding all around it...) Seeing those poor hammies fall .... i cannot describe that feeling - its worse than beeing terrified uhhhhh MY POINT IS... in that video they definitly fell deeper than 8 inches...(which would already give me grey hair) and even, if they had put pillows underneath (which i hope they did), they could STILL have an unfortionate position they land in and hurt themselves.. A friend fell once while skiing... They were falling SLOWMOTION... We were standing in deep fluffy snow. She lost balance and slowly fell to the side. And it was fluffy soft deep snow - nothing hard. And she broke her finger... So, no matter how much they claim it to be "safe" - accidents can always happen... and you DO NOT put a pet you should LOVE in potential danger!!! (not to mention all the other dangers you pointed out and that made me scream internally).. Ahhh i am so upset! But its a good thing you pointed out how BAD it is - and i hope people DO NOT do that to their pets! If it cheers you up - your video made my hamster happy. Since i had to cuddle him, I had to pay the cuddle-taxes and he got 2 extra-pine cores as a treat. Sorry for the loong ramble. i had to let out some steam... Have you not seen other hamster vids?? This is tame considering others anyway Rodents climb stuff and they fall my hamster used to climb the whole cage! you're also presuming they put the hamster in a mixed room not to escape I'm sure if something was to happen the fights would be broken up! I think you have ott reactions! Rodents are problem solvers granted hamsters are genuinely thicker than rats but still The tooth pics were bad and rotating bit's should have been moved by hamsters only the last bit you can see it was clipped which says they broke up any possible fight Should have done the obstacles with rats to be honestt

I have seen other “maze” videos and the majority are awful. While some rodents climb hamsters are not among them and favour floor space not heights. They have very poor eyesight and although physically they can climb this doesn’t mean they should be put into situations where they have to for no reason. A hamster climbing the whole cage is a stress behaviour and isn’t natural to them and they should not have been put all together like they were for any reason. Syrian hamsters are strictly solitary animals and even though some dwarf species can on occasion live in pairs this usually ends up with them needing to be separated. Putting them into this situation for no reason other than clout is completely unacceptable, selfish and dangerous.

@@TianiSimoneX yet if you watch the behind scenes clip you can clearly see they have a soft landing As for climbing they're not climbing a platform isn't climbing vast majority of cages have platforms. I had a rotastack cage when I was younger the hamster wasn't stressed he just climbed everything .. I had russian hamsters after he had passed which didn't do this and they both had the same cage! I do agree some of these courses are nuts and frankly annoying because my kid is now obsessed with hamsters and has a pretend hamster army and lemming army due to grizzy and lemmings on Netflix I keep telling him hamsters are thick but hey ho 2 of my rats used to go outside on a leash would you disagree with this also? If an animal is distressed the owner would be covered in bites and reluctant also. That said the tooth pics were clearly a bad choice the automatic rotation sections are bad they should be manual on the animals strength! You're looking at it negatively from every angle and yet every rodent cage and toys are all like this

Misinformation is a massive issue when it comes to hamsters and there care has come a long way in the last few years. Most passionate hamster owners aim to follow in the footsteps of country’s like Germany with with there hamster care as they aim for a high standard and highly value the importance of an animal thriving and not just surviving in an environment. A lot of cages you can find marketed for hamsters in certain pet shops are not at all suitable for them to live in for the entirety of there life and are marketed as “starter cages”. As I said previously “monkey baring” or constantly climbing there cage is a stress behaviour and there have been many studies on this but there is still a vast amount of misinformation that can be found on the internet and given out. In terms of hamster balls, I don’t agree with them either, most hamster owners don’t and I don’t think they should be sold or marketed towards hamsters either. If you’re generally interested in learning more instead of relying of a very old way of thinking about hamsters there are plenty of places to do research and the “hamster hideout” forum has a lot of great information.

i genuinely cant understand how people actually think this is ok.even if you dont really know much on hamsters you would still know that putting two different species of hamster together would be wrong and i dont understand how, if they are fighting, people dont stop it from happening like why would you do that on purpose to an animal especially if its your own pet. if they have time and go through the effort of setting these things up then they will definitely have time to educate themselves on how to properly look after hamsters and any other animal too. it just makes me so angry and upset that people do this to animals and treat them like toys. its just not ok . people are talking about the behind the scenes video of this and honestly if i cant handle this i dont know what the bts video would be like . it is really upsetting and the hamsters would definitely feel very stressed and scared

I've commented numerous times* and have been called all sorts of disgusting things. It's *so* hard not to get angry at these people, since most people commenting are just kids who don't know any better, but it just shows how much influence these creators have over their audience. There's so many people saying that they do similar stuff with their hamsters (i.e. housing them together), and that video just promotes that behaviour. It's vile. *I usually wouldn't do this, since more comments make the algorithm promote the video more, but _very_ few people were actually addressing the real issues, this is the one time where I have no issue with replying to others or making comments.

because there are moving parts. They can get caught in them. And they are super delicate so their legs can break easily like on the rope bridge one was dangling by its leg. That could have easily hurt it. Just because it didn't happen this time doesn't mean it won't next time. Also, these situations they put them in is very stressful for them as they have no clue what is happening. How would you like to be dangling by your leg at a height especially when you don't know how high the drop is. That's how a hamster feels when that happens when they fall from a height no matter how small of drop. They have very bad eyesight so they can't tell that it's only a few centimetres off the ground to them it may as well be 20 ft high. And it doesn't matter if it's cardboard or not still dangerous and stressful. And don't call me a bozo I'm not an idiot. I just care about animals safety.

I can’t stand people. In what scenario would you ever consider that this is okay? This is just abuse there’s no other name for this. It’s just so aggravating because mazes can be such fantastic enrichment for hamsters and really if they cared about the animals there could’ve been ways to create this safely and enjoyably for the hammies 😞 Just want to rescue them all 💔
