As an aside to my post - JK won 7 mnet awards last night... so he's making quite a name for himself as a soloist... as they all have... so very proud of them all....

The actress is Pasha Harulia , a Ukrainian model... I think she's like 24...(A lot of people, me included, first thought it was Emma Corrin from The Crown) In one of his interviews from the shoot sketch for the video, JK said that the director wanted a 'Romeo and Juliet' type MV... so the families are fighting as there's not supposed to be any 'love' ... but the two main characters fell for each other and so the families are warring... Modernized disco pop is the vibe I get too. The instrumentals make me realize how much I've missed that. I love that it's a throwback sound, but totally current. Also that it's an MJ vibe, but totally JK! 💜

By now The Usher Remix to this song is out and Usher tweeted a photo with JK looks like on a MV set! So Army's is on alert for this announcement. Usher brings the RB vibe that he's so well known for and sounds so good bringing his hi notes and ad libs too. This collaboration for me kinda solidifies Jungkooks place in the western pop music scene. Usher is telling everyone that JK belongs and earned his place beside him and other great pop stars. So getting back to the actual collab, I prefer the original only because JKs interpretation of the story is in his vocals and with his performance are magic together.

To an extent... this MV is "sensory overload" and I mean that in a good way. The model in BTS' Jung Kook's "Standing Next to You" music video is Ukrainian model Pasha Harulia. I believe the "fight" scene is what is known as Capoeira. It is a Brazilian martial art that combines dance, acrobatics, music, and spirituality.
