For such a small island they certainly sent over some good stuff Black Sabbath The Cure Tears for fears The pet shop boys Iron maiden the Jam The Police Led Zeppelin Deep purple, Pink Floyd The Beatles The Holliies The Rolling Stones The Sex Pistols The Clash Geez, I could literally go on forever
I was there during Aug 2020 walking the Dorset element of the South West Coast Path, and this is Durdle Door in Dorset. Attached link to photos from1913 of a girl at Durdle Door. www.boredpanda.com/autochrome-photography-christina-mervyn-ogorman/?
@@catsarai-genxrewind5271 Likes and dislikes are so generational. I was 20 in 1977 so caught both the 70s and 80s and loved them both musically, for different reasons. I loved 70s rock, and dancing to pure 80s music, such as Everybody Wants to Rule the World (still one of my fav' songs), A Little Respect by Erasure etc. They make you feel happy. Tears for Fears was possibly the most outstandingly talented of what we might regard as the quintessential 80s groups, e.g. Human League (not including groups like New Order - e.g. utterly brilliant song Temptation). I love the 60s as well, possibly the most influential decade. Although I like many, many, songs and groups from the 90s I do not think the 90s, or since, compares overall to the previous 3 decades. Perhaps we loved music so much because we had to make a commitment to a genre, make an effort to hear it and make an effort to go down the shops and buy it. Since the 90s no effort is required. Computers and the internet have provided alternatives to music. The musical paradigm has also changed; where shows like The X-Factor encourage mediocrity and blandness, and the same few writers write the music for Katie Perry, Lady Gaga etc, which is a bit limiting. Having said that I do like Katie!
i remember it being an absolutely massive hit #1 around the world....and the video was so family friendly beautiful...seeing all those locals in the studio singing along was magical....it was anthem like
While Curt was the main vocalist! Roland showed in this and head over heels what a great singer he is . My personal faves are Head over heels and the brilliant Pale shelter.
Great song. Everybody Wants to Rule the World is my TFF fav. The non-studio scenes from that video were shot outside Palm Springs, CA. I was there back in '15, and the place was really rundown and depressing. :(
Such a great band . I was a freshman in college and this brings back such great memories when life to appear to be so easy and worry free. Gen X ‘ers - long love the 80’s vibe !
Were they the perfect 80's band?? The songs, lyrics, harmonies, videos, unique sound and instrumentals. Listening to any of their songs from back then puts a smile on my face. Everybody Wants to Rule the World is like the perfect song. Totally fell in love with Roland's vocals on Shout and Head Over Heels.
The group were really into Primal Scream therapy where you're encouraged to shout and scream your internal angst to 'let go' of your inner turmoil, this was the basis of this song and also the group name.
Just discovered your channel and I`m really enjoying rediscovering the music from the 80s through you. Most of your reactions are British acts, I didn`t realise they charted in USA but good news for you as so many didn`t and those are at least as good. You are going to hear some amazing music for the first time. Bon appetit to your ears !
1:26 it was filmed at Durdle Door, England. A very famous television show called The Highlander Series was also filmed at Durdle Door, England. I heard that this song is about U.S. and U.K. war.
Somebody just reminded of ab artiste zalled Joe Jackson. If memory serves me well, dubious at my age!, there were a couple of tracks that you would enjoy. The music in the UK then and now is superb. We have always had a really good scene, You have many more to evaluate!
hi Cat in answer to your question this video was filmed in dirtledore, which is in Dorset, England. I absolutely love your enthusiasm for 80's/90' music. keep up the great work !!!!
This band is one of my all time favorites.. I had 3rd row seats to see them here in the states in A.C, NJ...unfortunately I got sick and I wasn't allowed to be around large crowds of people...was very upset, but my loss was someone else's gain...it would have been something to see them performing Mad World, Change and many others live.
Tears for Fears have a new album, 'The Tipping Point', and a tour of America and the UK coming up. The album is #2 in one of the charts, so I wouldn't be surprised if the tour is expanded. Go to their website for the itinerary and to get the new album. BTW, in the UK Alison Moyet is support, in America it is the tremendous Garbage. Hopefully you will get to see them.
@@MrCherryJuice Thanks so much for that info! I did read that they are touring and pretty sure I'll be able to get good seats...at least I hope!! I appreciate you giving me the info!!
I was lucky enough to see them live just before lockdown and they are better than ever! Their new album is great too, Great music stands the test of time.
Little lady, It may just be me? It just seems like songs back the day had a message. Something that spoke to most if not all of us. Thank you for taking me back ❤️🌎❤️
ipWow! Thank u so much "Cat" for another great trip down memory lane! This ...was one of my favorite Tears for Fears songs! Thank u for reacting to it! p.s......once again..one of the most compelling parts of this reaction vid ofcourse.....was u! you have a beautiful face and smile, accentuated by a lovely set of expressive eyes that seem to shine, sparkle and come alive in a special way when u are in a joyous frame of mind because of what u are watching and/or listening to!! Thank u cat! Take care and "Keep em coming" lol!! p.s....you've got to be the "hippist" mom on you tube lol!! im sure your kids would attest to that!
Look for the bbc4 documentry ,classic allbums, the whole album explained. The guitarsolo at the end was the killer when i first heard it. It was a friday evening, short before six pm, on the radio .I think many ppl have these moments. Like billy jean, shout, etcetc.
Superb choice ... a real favourite of mine. I love the way they layer and transition the instrumentals, the vocals are really powerful too. I bought the Songs From The Big Chair album based on hearing this track, it's a superb album :-) I'm not sure, but I think the lyrics are a call for people to 'shout' out against injustice and stand up for what's right, rather than just ignoring it ... I think.
I was an 80’s baby and was introduced to eighties music when I was eight or nine years old by my older sister there’s 12 years in btw us.Two of my favorite songs of the eighties were a-ha take on me, and modern English I melt with you. The eighties music is still what I listen to even today.
Amazing to see how you express yourself..why? The energy i feel with this song, I also feel when I hear this song...it's beyond powerful song. My parents told me, the 80's were the most violent years...90's things kinda calm down...60's was madness (the hipppies). Now we know why the hippies were very dangerous people.
@@catsarai-genxrewind5271 I suggest the live version of 'The Working Hour' from 2014. It's a very emotional track and one of my favorites: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-s5_HZT7qhP0.html&start_radio=1
Saw them in my local park about 2 yrs ago....it was quite funny, just walking into town to see this massive band i once adored. They were fantastic btw.
This video was recorded in the south coast of England, the Jurassic Cost in Dorset, England. Bournemouth, on the south coast, has the best beach in the UK, just a few miles further down the coast
Ok, remember the Big Country video that you asked “where was it filmed?” This was done on The Jurassic Coast in Dorset, southern England. It’s actually just up the road from where the Big Country one was done. It’s bloody gorgeous. The natural arch in the sea is called Durdle Door.
Hi there. First time I come across your videos. You are so beautiful and .. "refreshing". Everybody can see from your face (particularly from your smile) that you really enjoy these songs (and all the memories). I lived those times and that music, so I fully understand your feelings; and I share them with you ... I just don't dare making the same videos, tough ... 🤣🤣🤣
The coastline is Dorset - the Jurassic Coast, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the archway in the sea is known as Durdle Door: Durdle Door, Dorset - Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site
They have a long awaited new album coming out 2021....been working on it since 2013....they never were a prolific band. They spoke of releasing songs as singles - the trend today......the album is to be called The Tipping Point. Roland Orzabal was the main writer and split singing with Curt Smith. Check out his work as Tears for Fears when he was solo - Elemental Raul and The Kings of Spain, Tomcats Screaming Outside and then their back together album Everybody Loves a Happy Ending.
The place this was filmed at is called Durdle Door which is in Dorset UK Just 2 miles to the East is another amazing place called Lulworth Cove and 7 miles to the West is a lovely seaside town called Weymouth, they are all family favourites!
I really like this song/video the people that are part of that video with the band looked like they had a lot of fun being a kid in 1980s i did not care to listen to music but it was until 2002 or 3 when i gave 80s music a chance.
What’s it about? The name of the album is “Songs From the Big Chair.” Listen to every song in that context, you’ll know what it’s about. One of my all-time favorite albums and bands.
