@@phwn yeah but a lot of them never had real jobs, they were gaming prodigies at a young age and got lucrative contracts once they were old/good enough to compete on the major orgs
One thing that people watching this should consider is that America has a weird paranoia about any age gap relationships. Relationships in any context, be it friendly, sexual or even as a mentor. Younger people, like probably the people in Twitch chat, assume any adult talking to someone younger than them is trying to groom them or doing inevitably doing it for some sexual gain. This societal, collective mental illness is another evolution of the same paranoia this country was founded on. It's basically the death of any mentorship, adoption or closeness of any kind between the old and young. It's pitiful and there's very little that can be done about it.
That paranoia has ramped up because of very real things like epsteins client list coming out, and famous cases from the past like the McMartin case. There's good reason to have caution. That said, young people nowadays don't know anything about the McMartin case, so they aren't freaking out because of that. Other people, like women, freak out at any male over 30 who flirts or tries to be with women in their early twenties. They will literally claim grooming, of an adult. It's insanity, a double standard too.
I don’t think it’s necessarily perceived that way, but more to do with the influence of pop culture that brings forward certain perceptions and stigmas on younger generations. Society as a whole nowadays is based on the perception of the influencers kids watch, from subconscious mind patterns, to lingo, to even certain views they have on life. Someone can see their favorite streamer make a joke on a 30yr old mentoring a 18-20 year old, and now has left this seed implanted in the young adults mind that it’s “weird” to do that. With all the people that have been cancelled aswell on esports, and social media as a whole. some rightly so, some unjustly, and others are a grey area. It’s all to do with perception and how easily it is for an influencer and pop culture to influence audiences mind to see things a certain way even if the idea is objectively wrong. It’s an issue on the influencers not knowing how much their words weight, kids not questioning everything they watch because of the power numbers and followers holds on audiences, and parents for not knowing the importance of teaching proper navigation of social media because that wasn’t an issue in their own young adults life.
I think your both over thinking it a bit, at least in this case, the internet is simply childish and "chat" was called out for being weird and even backed richard up after a few comments, its just a silly reaction, and anyone with a brain knows this is a very silly accusation.
Hi. The things you read on the internet are not how all Americans think. There are 330 Million people in the US. Even the largest threads on websites like reddit hardly every see above 100K unique comments. Id suggest stepping away from the internet for a couple days and going outside and talking to some other humans.
"he sees the game a lot like I do" made me spit out my drink the first time i saw it, now the second time i see it i'm not sure if i want to laugh or cry, it's such a stupid thing to say
Was waiting for this since Thorins podcast with Maui and you! This gonna be gud ❤ Found you just a few months ago but really love your content and your insight. I don't agree on every single take or always share your opinion but I enjoy the way you present your ideas and the way you phrase them. So I can really understand your position even if I think about it in a different way. However, in case of Stewie I am totally with you. What an unpleasent character and wasted talent... Also hats off to you and everyone standing up against the Saudi sports washing! I boycot them too, but I have nothing to lose relatively to players or talents that refuse to bow to the big money and influence.
Off topic but I am very surprised every time I think about how a big name like you in journalism constantly speaks his mind and stands by him morals even if it means getting attacked by soy boy fans and narcissistic players. Really respect you for this and keep up the absolutely amazing work, you are the one journalist who has kept my faith in journalism and reporting over the years.
Stewie is a gamer kid..I'm surprised anyone would even expect that guy to drop any mature or above 80 IQ thoughts. I guess that is the core of esports too: gamer kids given a platform and supposed to be taken seriously
Thank you for your honesty, thank you for your hard work and thank you for putting your self out there despite the hardships. You’re doing amazing work, hopefully you can retain your mental strength and keep on providing this great coverage.
17:40 Rich I think I speak for a lot of us when I say that your generosity, wisdom and words of encouragement reach exceptionally far and help more than you can know, much love
As someone who has played league level cs (2.5k elo). My IGL not knowing the opponent is a cardinal sin. We did prep work on "random" teams even at an inters level.
I was really hoping after the win he'd realize how lucky he was. He sounded like he knew when he got interviewed on stage but then I saw this interview and was let down. I didn't care for him too much after c9. He really hated on ska for really no reason. Ska has constantly been one of those guys no one has ever had anything bad to say about and after hearing stew basically didn't like him it rubbed me the wrong way. Hope he figures out his ego someday, he could still be a good piece on an NA team but I'm not holding my breath.
It's mad how he argues he knows Cs and like 5 min later cans strait up say he doesn't know mutch about arguably the best player in the world right now.
i understand you meant for the initial tweet it to be about hooxi but saying you don't understand how they won implies they shouldn't have won when their playstyle was looking like 2018 Astralis.
17:25 is a really stupid thing to say after a bunch of online weirdos write stupid stuff aboutu it. You arent doing it for admiration but because you wanna help a guy
When you’ve been betrayed enough times by people you cherished and helped, been shittalked professionally for hurting peoples feefees and whatever else, you become jaded and Richard’s outlook sinks in, many just don’t say as such.
"I've seen your tape Richard" "I've done a lot of things behind the scenes for a lot of people?" HUH Mauisnake: "REALLY???? NO! I wasn't there." Ever since Richard mentioned the chat with the paedophile takes I can't watch this video the same.
@@dakotafred7167 After Stewie made the comment about being back The Hotel room with Richard, and the chat made all the Paedo allegations; everything sounds like innuendo.
The term "hater" is thrown around so much, I truly believe a person like Maui honestly does not know what it means. He claims that tweet was "epitomizing a typical online hater". The tweet was factual information. Being a hater is hating someone in spite of factual information or lack thereof. It is hating just to hate based on superficial levels. There was nothing "hater" about that tweet. Zero. The fact he labeled that tweet like that, it just shows what this current generation is all about. PARTICIPATION MEDALS. Doesn't matter how bad someone plays, if they win, they're just a god among men. Doesn't matter what sport or game it is, you will compliment them and if you don't, you're instantly labeled numerous things.
Is it a participation medal if you win something in a team game? Huh? Like I know you’re talking about Hooxi but if I didn’t know that, this comment would make zero sense. Plus, it’s always hard with IGLs. How can you know exactly what they contribute to them when their main contribution isn’t statistical output. The eye test is better in that case, if tactics are bad or sloppy, bad reads or sloppy mid rounding are easier to spot then. But still, it’s harder to say than being able to go look at that stats.
Richard. I don't understand why what he said in this specific interview warranted what you said here. I can't stand Stewie and I think you are right, but what was so insane about anything he said during this interview? You're roasting him when he didn't say shit here. He was just being a dumbass. What's the point of getting tilted here? I mean, I would understand you being pissed off about the stuff he said on his stream weeks ago or his tweets, both of which you already covered, but the things he said here are so mundane and inoffensive, and you seem quite angry here. You're barely reacting to the interview in this video. Most of the video is about other shit he did/said. Not hating. Love ya, man. Just asking.
Cuz he actually cares for the once good kid he's vouched for when everyone was shitting on him. When you do care for people - you just can't stand watching them turning into a toxic blob. Richard is being the real one here telling Jake the truth to his face - the truth that Stew might only realise himself as he reaches his 30-40s, when it's too late for the industry he's once chosen to be a part of.
@F1stzz But perhaps Richard needs to have a conversation privately with Stewie to get through to him and explain where he's coming from. He's probably already done that before, but I think what he's doing now will only do the opposite and give Stewie (who is incredibly emotionally immature and very unintelligent when it comes to anything but CS) an excuse to discount Richard's feelings and totally look past the fact that he cares. Now Stewie can say bullshit like: "He's milking me" (which we all know isn't true, but Stewie being Stewie can use this as an excuse now because Richard got quite upset for 50 minutes and started roasting him and Stewie will create some kind of logic where he thinks he hasn't done anything to Richard while Richard has been attacking him. Point being, I'm afraid this is counterintuitive. Maybe if Richard called Stewie and tried to bond and understand, things would be different. On the other hand though, I've tried getting through to people I care about with patience and love and they've just disappointed and hurt me, so I don't know if there's a right or wrong here and I also don't want to hate on Richard.
@@Corsileo-w9q so Rich must have this convo in private with Jake after Stew himself made it a public one first & proceeded to unleash an army of stewcels on him? Not to mention literally everyone else amongst CS talent looking at this drama & sucking Stew off publicly. But I get it, lines are always drawn for Lewis only 👌🏻
I forget where this interview was, but there was a video interview of Stewie, that's always stuck in my head for some reason. He was asked the question "What's the worst job you've ever had" his answer: "I've never had a job outside of CS". Unfortunately, it is quite hard to remain grounded in reality, for these kinds of people.
dude, what are you even blabbering. stewie isnt anybody i follow on twitch, or social. never particularly liked him. but g2 would have never won with hooxi. ive been watching literally every tourney since 2003, its fucking clear when g2s niko and hunter become tilt and silent. why dont you give credit where credit is due? like half of the team is washed at this point. do you even watch old mouz niko clips anymore, where he is smiling and having fun, and rolling everybody. these dudes overworked af, and struggle to laugh off shit that happens in the game.
"g2 would have never won with hooxi" That was the whole point of his initial tweet that Stewie replied to. It was an indictment on Hooxi's leadership. Also I don't think Nikosports was a particularly happy time.
Love how this dude effortlessly admits to providing location, the alcohol, and sharing it knowingly "throwing back a coupla beeeuhs" with an underage player while trying to say what a "good guy" he is and being very defensive about being accused of grooming by random people in chat. All of this on the company card apparently. I don't think you're doing yourself any favors man
He also never said he bought anything for Stewie. In fact, he says Stewie brought his own tequila. Richard is not the police, Stewie has free will. Find a new slant.
