The CGI and special effects are really impressive for their time, and Peter Cullen voiced Optimus Prime to perfection. That man never disappoints. In the lore, the reason why the first thing Megatron says is his name is because the whole time he was frozen he was conscious and angry that they were calling him NBE 1 instead of his glorious name. And he somewhat respected Sam specifically because he was the first to call him by his name. “This is NBE-1!” “Shut up stupid ass” “Naw that’s Megatron” “ok I’m killing you last”

For your transformation question. Typically any Cybertronian has one alternate mode. If they want a new alt mode, they have to scan a new machine (usually a vehicle) which discards the old alt mode. But there are some Cybertronians that can have 2 alt modes, or even 5! There's also the INCREDIBLY rare Shifters, that can just freely transform as they please. And the metal they are made of is of their own biology, typically called "living metal" or "cyber-matter," that allows them to shift and contort to the forms as they please.

Fun facts: - The Cube/Allspark is the new concept of energy source for the Cybertronians in this iteration. In the previous series, the energy source of all Transformers is Energon, which is the fuel, food, and lifeblood of the Transformers. The Cube here is a new concept made for this movie. - This movie may be the only time we see the original Autobot team in a funny moment. - The voice of Optimus Prime is by legendary Peter Cullens, who has also voiced the same character in G1 since 1984. - In the G1 original series, Bumblebee can talk. Here in this movie, they made its era iteration of Bee by having him mute, lose his voice box in the line of duty. This idea was carried out sometime in the 20s.

The best of the first five as far as plot and storytelling. Bumblebee was originally a VW bug in the cartoon, so having the Camaro hit the bug with its door was Michael bay's way of saying this won't be the transformers you remember. All of the original vehicles were either German or Japanese models in the cartoon, but they got a lot of money from General Motors for the movies, so they had to use their cars and trucks
@fubar1217
@fubar1217 9 месяцев назад
And at the time, the new Camaro hadn't been released yet so the car in the movie was a prototype and the movie was sort of an unveiling of the car. I believe they even came out with a Transformers or Bumblebee edition Camaro at some point.

True, as stated above me, the newer Camaro used was actually a prototype of the new production model. From what I remember reading, the actors were barely allowed to touch the car, and they had to be extra careful, because that was the only one on the set.

Bumblebee was the audience's entry to the Transformers in the cartoon. He was the first one you saw on screen, and then when they come to Earth, he befriends Spike Witwicky, and they have adventures together. But, he wasn't really the "main character" like he was in these movies. The cartoon was more of an ensemble. Spike interacted with all of them, but was closest with Bumblebee.

Saw this movie in the theater with my dad and it blew me away! Originally Joseph Khan and Robert Zemeckis were considered for directing the film, until Michael Bay was picked. He didn't want to direct the film, thinking it was a stupid kids movie aimed at toys, but when he read the script, he immediately signed on for the project. The original script was a lot different, told from the human characters perspective, like a disaster movie, and that none of the robot characters had any dialogue. The climax of the film was going to take place in the Grand Canyon, where the Autobots and Decepticons have an old west style showdown.

1. One thing that always fascinated me was that, apparently, Michael Bay signed on for this movie after reading the script and being told that the studio wanted it to be filmed almost like a disaster movie. And, tbh, if you look at it from that perspective a lot of the creative decisions make sense and I can kind of appreciate them to an extent. 2. Personally this movie and Dark of the Moon are the best movies of the Bayverse. They take themselves just seriously enough to get across the gravity of the stakes, the more childish humor is at a minimum and the villains don't feel like props. 3. Of all of them, this is probably my favorite. It had the right amount of serious and the right amount of zero fucks. it went hard on the CGI. It made fun of a lot of tropes. Shia is really good at the semi-improved feeling rapid fire lines. The characters were all interesting and had some progression. Lots of things blew up. Space robots. What's not to like? And yeah, I think they were kind of having a little fun at the expense of teenagers. We all feel like Sam. Trying to be way cooler than we are, etc. We wish we had a vintage Camaro that turned out to be an alien robot. It's just a damn fun movie.

Aw damn I'm at the part where the audio go muted so I'll take the time to type this out. You're right about them being able to turn into any piece of tech so long as its a reasonable size. In the original cartoons, the Decepticon Soundwave turned into a boombox/cassette player and he had these little transforming guys that helped him that turned into cassettes. The little metal dude in this movie turning into a boombox is a reference to Soundwave because he's named after one of Soundwave's cassettes, Frenzy :)

Anyways, in first seeing the trailer for this, it made me think- Wow...this looks good! I gotta go. So yeah, this shocked and surprised me at how very cool it was, let alone the SFX! Plus, OP's voice just reverberates through you. MB has a huge respect for our Military as I think a brother of his was in one of the branches, and speaking as a AF brat, I love the inclusion and lifting up of our Military. On another note, the older actor whose name you couldn't recall, is Jon Voight, Angelina Jolie's Father. He was also in the first M:I movie. And Fun Fact, the blondish Military guy who was JV's right hand is - Steven Ford, actor son of former VP and Pres. Gerald Ford ( Mother- Betty Ford, frm. 1st Lady). Overall....I mostly enjoyed the first 3 Transformers movies. I tried watching the one with Mark Wahlburg but but couldn't get into it. Was fun watching your reactions!😊

As someone who watch the original 80s transformers cartoon episode by episode season by season The story lines in these movies are great. In comparison the transformer storylines in the original cartoon were like SpongeBob episode where each one was its own unique storyline. They barely had any storylines that can stretch past two episodes other than the fourth season, which was a four episode season rather than 40-50 episodes.

Im happy to say I saw this movie in the theatres when it came out, twice I think. Im not a movie snob, but I can tell the difference between good story telling and...not so good, and while Transformers had its flaws here and there, mainly with some of Sam's story, and maybe they needed to cut some fat - HOWEVER, I LOVED this movie, a great action movie, fantastic visuals and cg, it was honestly exhilarating seeing this on the big screen - seeing my childhood nostalgic memories come to life like this, I was blown away. Yes, it's not Inception, it's not a deep character study, it's not a convoluted plot with incredible catharsis - but that's a strong point I find. This was PERFECT for giant robots that transform into vehicles and jets, I dont know what more people would want lol. Yes, i think it's a passtime for critics and internet people to criticize Michael Bay, but credit where credit is due, the guy made an AMAZING action movie. Yes, Sam had a lot of plot armour, but Im not sure what people were expecting. Are there some scenes that could be improved? Sure, but for what it was meant to be - a great action movie, I was very, very pleased

In the scene where Sam and his Dad go to the used car lot Bumblebee is parked next to and subsequently ruins a yellow Volkswagen Beetle, which is the type of car Bumblebee originally was in the animated series. On the sponsorship thing: The new Camaro wasn't out when this movie was being made so the one that appears in the film is actually the concept version of the car (you can tell by the side view mirrors). At the time of filming there wasn't a production version available so it's actually basically a kit car built over an early 2000's Pontiac GTO (the actual production Camaro's in their first generation of the reissue actually shared an engine and transmission with the GTO). If you pay attention in the background there are like four or five GTOs that get destroyed as civilian cars being that the production had an excessive amount on hand presumably for parts for the "hero car" Camaro. This first film was definitely sponsored by GM as all of the vehicles with the exception of Optimus are GM. The Camaro, the Pontiac solstice, the hummer, the GMC sierra, not to mention all of the government vehicles. It's also no surprise that the first villain car you see is a ford mustang which has had a historic rivalry with the Chevy Camaro.

While the 80s cartoon was the more casual / mass appeal way that people were introduced to the franchise, much like with G.I. Joe, most of the actually lore came from the Marvel comic book series, which (again, like G. I. Joe) was a lot more in depth than the cartoons ever were.

1:50 You are correct. Peter Cullen is the original English dub voice of Optimus Prime. He voiced Optimus Prime in the original 1984-1986 series and its movie, but did not return to the role until this movie, after which he provided Optimus Prime's voice in pretty much all other Transformers media (with a few exceptions). Tesshou Genda is the original Japanese voice (and also returned to the role for the Japanese dub of this movie). 11:40 New meme idea: "This will affect the ozone layer." 19:32 The holographic driver here is the same one we saw in Blackout as its pilot. He is officially dubbed "Moustache Man" and is played by US Air Force Major Brian Reece, who piloted the actual MH-53 used as Blackout. 21:24 That actually wasn't supposed to happen. The dogs ripped the chains out and Shia actually outran them. 22:00 "He's the owner, isn't he?" Actually, I'm wondering how it worked, because Bumblebee just... showed up. Where's that Camaro's title/registration from? Did Bumblebee know to print something out? 26:15 Close. The C-130 "Hercules" is the unarmed cargo variant. This is an AC-130 "Spectre," which is equipped with two 25mm GAU12/U rotary cannons, a 40mm L/60 Bofors cannon, and a 105mm M102 Howitzer. 32:50 "Definitely Japanese." *Technically not wrong* 33:45 Opening up a whole can of worms with that question. At pretty much no point in the franchise's history has it ever been consistent with how small or large the Transformers are, objectively, or in relation to others (ie. Tidal Wave, a Decepticon that in Armada, the first "Cybertron Trilogy" anime, turns into an aircraft carrier tall enough to stand in the Atlantic Ocean and only be up to his knees, yet is also seen small enough to be about Megatron's size at times). Simply put... don't even attempt to think about this issue. 38:09 It was explained in a prequel novel how Bumblebee lost his voice (though that explanation was retconned by a prequel comic, and a later movie). 1:07:28 This is a great shot, but how in the world are both Sam and the Autobots visibly running without the Autobots effortlessly outpacing him? 1:07:42 This movie's budget was between $150 Million and $200 Million (and made back $710 Million). 1:08:40 Stamina-wise, I'd have been dead when those dogs got loose in the train yard. But here, I'd be done for only a few levels up those stairs. What each Transformer turns into: Blackout: Sikorsky MH-53 "Pave Low" Spec Ops CSAR (Combat Search and Rescue) helicopter Bumblebee: 1976 Chevrolet Camaro (initial), 2008 Chevrolet Camaro Concept (was actually a mock-up built by Saleen on a heavily-modified 2006 Holden Monaro, the car that would be sold in the US as the 5th generation Pontiac GTO). - Also, the production crew had purchased several 1976 Camaros for the movie, for between $2,000 and $6,000 each (which coincidentally *or not* averages to $4,000, the price Sam paid for Bumblebee in this movie). Barricade: 2007 Saleen S281E (a Saleen-modified 2006 Ford Mustang) police interceptor Jazz: 2007 Pontiac Solstice Ironhide: 2007 GMC Ultimate Class IV TopKick Pickup (a special variant of the Chevrolet Kodiak) - The tow truck Mikaela shows up in at 1:05:24 is also a GMC TopKick, but a more common commercial model. Ratchet: 2007 AM General Hummer H2 Ambulance Optimus Prime: 2007 Peterbilt 379 (curiously, Takara-Tomy claims it to be a Kenworth W900, a nearly-identical truck). Megatron: Fictional Cybertronian jet Starscream: Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor fighter jet Devastator (Brawl): General Dynamics M1A1 Abrams Main Battle Tank Bonecrusher: General Dynamics Buffalo MRAP Also, a short history lesson about the origin of the Transformers brand: In 1980, four years before the Transformers brand existed, Japanese toy company Takara made a two lines of transforming robot toys called "Diaclone" and "Micro Change" (the latter of which used molds of another Takara toy line called Choro-Q, which were sold in the US for a very short time as "Penny Racers"). Many of these toys would be repackaged as "Transformers" toys with little to no changes. For example, the very first Optimus Prime (Japanese name "Convoy") toy was actually just a re-branded Diaclone "Battle Convoy" set, with the ONLY change being the "Diaclone" logo on the trailer being changed to the Transformers design. And the original Bumblebee (Japanese name "Goldbug") toy was a yellow Micro Change Volkswagen Beetle (which itself was a transforming version of the Choro-Q/Penny Racers Volkswagen Beetle toy).

I can't help it - I'm a huge fan of Transformers as a franchise, and I still find Bumblebee the best of the lot for reasons that'll become clear when you see it. But with the Bayverse films, I still catch myself wishing they'd used the existing background story for the franchise, instead of creating half a new origin story out of nowhere and making a movie about the eternal three-way war between Shia TheBeef, his own bad ideas, and his cartoonishly whitebread parents. Though unironically, you guys ought to check out the old animated movie from 1986. It genuinely slaps.

1:06:50 I personally believe that though Megatron stasis at sector 7 and couldn't move he could probably still hear or feel things around him. Like those stories where someone was in a coma and when they woke up, they said they heard everything their visitors said to them. Basically, Megatron heard and felt he humans poking a prodding at him for 50+ years. I can imagine him saying "I am Megatron" and destroying the place when he first wakes up because he is tired of the humans calling him NBE 1. Normally when someone wakes from a normal coma their first reaction is to say "Where am I." Megatron doesn't do that and seems to have an idea that the cube was in sector 7 with him or else he'd probably go straight back to the Arctic to get it. It's my personal head cannon to make the like "Humans don't deserve to live" more sense as it sounds vengeful the way he says it.
