i know i’m a bit late for commenting but i wanted to tell you that i got my baby leopard gecko, wally, about 3 weeks ago and because of your advice and your videos i’ve been able to provide the best care possible for him and give him a good life. i’m so thankful for you and i’m sure wally is too
This is so inspiring! Especially the one that had blue sand, it’s so amazing to see someone identify their mistakes and accept that they were wrong and make a huge transformation. Now that my rescue crestie creed is in his new tank, I’m writing a pamphlet to give to my teacher for when she gets another gecko so that she, along with other students will have the right information right in their hands. I hope that I can one day submit my tank transformation to you!
@@adrianlorie9831 ur upgraded tank is awesome!! What brand/kind of substrate do you use now? I have mine on paper towels right now because he's tiny and wasn't fed, I'm giving him reptaboost now and he's starting to eat crickets but once he's healthy and grows a bit I want to upgrade the tank to something similar to yours
Wow such amazing transformations 🤩! It’s great to see that people take on advise given and improve their setups, and it’s also nice to hear that their geckos are enjoying it and becoming more active in them as well! Props to everyone who has these types of enclosures for their geckos, it’s inspiring my setup designs for my future gecko!
Ah I'm so happy you included Eevee's tank transformation in your video! It was actually inspired by Diego's bioactive enclosure. Thank you for all the videos you've made over the years, you have helped me so much! I've actually just started breeding leopard geckos and I can't wait to have babies!
Thanks to you my geckos are so much happier. When I got my juvenile male and female they were housed together on calcisand. I got them and separated them and at first they wouldn’t eat but now they are both thriving in their own 20 gals with heat, hides, and LIVE food not canned 🥰
I used to have my leo in a 10 gallon with only 2 hides- now I’ve been able to put him in a 24 x 18 x 12 exo terra! He has 3 hides! And a warm and cool spot!
thats so amazing!!! I love that you improved, its never too late!! Ihad my leo in a ten gallon once and shes now in a 40 gallon! I love this comment it makes me super happy :)
I saw a girl with a leopard gecko once on tiktock and she dumped a ton of bugs in a cricket tank full of sand with the leopard geckos together in it and they were very scared and i suggested something to her and she just said its her pets and to leave her alone.
See, she's the type of person whos gonna regret what shes doing, because her leos are sadly only going to live about a year more, when they could live 6 years, hopefully more. My leo is currently 4 because ive done my research. this is why its important to do research, Thank you for pointing it out without saying who it was, though :)
My tank is the transformation around 3 minutes! One thing I have had an issue with is that since moving my gecko over, he hasn’t eaten still. He’s been in the new tank for over a month and refuses to eat anything. I know this is normal and I’m monitoring weight. But it is still really frustrating and I hope he eats soon! He also has explored a little bit less than before, maybe due to less energy because he isn’t eating. I was expecting him to go off food so I fed him just before putting him in the new tank.
I have the same problem with my leo. (Except its an environment change and not a tank change) I would just try as many food options as possible. The leopard gecko also has a video on helping them eat again.
I think males seem to find the move/change more stressful. However he should have really eaten by now. Have you tried different insects, different sizes, and tong feeding?
I just got my Leopard Gecko, who I named Loki. 3 days in and he's still not eating but he seems to love his enclosure. I literally have every type of live food for him, but he's not interested. Can't wait for him to be tame enough to hold and hand feed, but I guess it'll just take time. Thnx for all the informative video's Rebecca!
I don't own Leopard Gecko, I just love watching them, they are so adorable I never thought I would love a reptile this much. Their smiles and with their.. not that high intelligence with the cute pigmentation are such a charming combination
these are lovely. I sent mine in too for a moment i was honestly kind of anxious if it was in the video cause anxiety is stupid but like if it was i know she wouldnt be rude if something was off and id probably learn something lol this is why i absolutely love this channel its just good vibes and so educational.
Aww yeah I'd hate to submit sometime and someone tear it apart, so I wouldn't like to do that to anyone. Constructive criticism and encouragement is the way forward :)
I have had my leopard gecko female for 15 years. I am unsure about her age when I bought her but i just add 2 years considering where I bought her, animals tend to sit around for a while (shady pet store selling them overpriced - years later got shut down due to poor conditions and asshole owners). So i will say she is 17 years old. Just cannot believe she is still chugging along just fine. I bought a male and have 4 leopard geckos now since I ending up breeding her her years ago. All in separate bio active tanks. Amazing how long they can live in the right conditions and proper care. I have tried just about every type of setup over the years from over simplified, sand, tile, gravel, custom foam carving, to now and here on out bioactive. I REALLY want to make large tanks for them all but don't have the space atm. They are all in 16 gallon (got 4 Exo-Terra 18x18x12 tanks for $20 a piece years ago - not sure why they marked them at such a low price - tanks were supposed to be temporary but it has been 3 years) bioactive tanks but I do take them out daily. I was planning on people (who I trust) to take on my 2 younger females but of course that didn't work out. I may try to make a 4 stack 55 gallon tanks bioactive set up for each gecko this year myself.
My crestie had mites on her tank only on the outside though and they were grain mites like you had will they hurt my crestie and I cleaned the tank the other day with neem oils and soap and also vinegar and water mix and should I get rid of the wood in her tank..
Leopard gecko i have a question. For a crested gecko can you mush up fruit from the supermarket and give it to them aswell and do they hiss, bite or have any kind of ilnesses that they commonly get?
You were the one who encouraged me to get my leo and by watching this video, I am going to upgrade to an exotera and get a backround! I was also wondering what seculins you use in your tank.
Sometimes when I eat skittles I like to put two between my fingers and push them together then I eat the cracked one and the other one is the champion and keeps on going against other ones then the last one alive I give to the skittles companies and tell them to copy and make a bag full of champion skittles
Hiii, 🐸👋🏼👋🏼I would like to know do leopard gecko need light? 💡Since so many people told me I shouldn’t use night light or Sun light or any kind of light to leopard gecko, and I don’t wanna hurt them but I also want the tank can look better, i’m really confuse, please help me🥺✨
My crestie just hides in 1 place all day in the top corner of the tank behind leaves and never moves in the DAY what do u think I should do to see it move a bit in the day? I don’t expect it to be really active but just want it to go somewhere different 😂 he has 3 hiding spots in the tank
I just wanna say my crestie is every time on glass he loves that spot. so idk how you, but i sometimes buy, for example new coconut or just try something new, but i know my gecko is stubborn so he will be always behind the flower ;-)
Hi! I really love your content and you have helped me out so much, but I wanted to ask about something, I have a classroom pet that is a leopard gecko that has a really bad setup, only one hide, a little climbing thing, and a food and water bowl in a 10 gallon tank, and a red lamp. I really want to help out, and I wanted to know if you have any ideas on what to bring, I can’t bring a new tank because it’s expensive but I can bring fake plants, a humid hide & moss for the humid hide, another hide, some loose dirt, and a new light bulb, I’m also worried to ask them about it because i have anxiety and I am kinda scared of my teachers even though they are all super nice, so do you think there’s any ideas on how to ask or what to bring in?
It’s best to try and educate the teachers about him/her, tell them politely what they need as after all it’s their responsibility and in their care more than yours. Just say something like “I’ve been doing some research into leopard geckos and I’m worried about…” or “I think we need to change” and just explain them politely what they need. They’d probably appreciate being told more than if you just showed up with a bunch of gecko stuff lol. But I hope this helps :)
Your probably not going to see this/answer this but... Do you know around the cost of upgrading to a bioactive? (Not the tank, but everything else) I'm thinking of doing a Bioactive tank for my 2 year old leopard gecko!
i don’t think anyone’s gonna see this but i got a leopard gecko a few weeks ago and when ever i feed him crickets he will only eat them if i hand feed them to him, i’ve tried to let them loose in his tank and he just won’t eat them... any tips?
Can i ask wich plant should i use? - i dont need something big max. 15 cm, and i have little problem, we have bit cold here, so i use heating light and i swear every plant lives here for about 2 months then it dies. So now my crestie has bromellia and thats all. I just want little bit more like bioactive setup.
Hey! My leopard gecko died a day ago😭 I dont think I took good enough care of him bc he died pretty early and I didnt know much abt leopard geckos. So now I am determined to learn more about them and upgrade the tank I had... I'm kinda embarrassed to say, but it was almost like the blue sand one, it has a carpet, a DIY humid hide and a basking rock and ofc a water bowl and food bowl. I beileve it's a 20 gallon tank.... so if you have any advice that would be great. I want to put reptile dirt or whatever it is in it, but then it might be hard to clean right? But anyways, if you have any starter tips on how to make a good terrarium, I'd love to hear it!
would you be interested in us sending you a picture of our current setups and you making a video with helpful advice for improvements? i feel like that would be very helpful for a lot of people!
Hello!!! I’ve had Japedo (my leopard gecko) for about 7 months!!! He use to only eat mealworms because I think he was lazy😂but now he refuses to eat them and only wants crickets 🦗 when I dump the crickets in the cage and let him hunt he is always hungry but isn’t the best hunter😅and on average he eats about 2-3 crickets a day😬😢so should I let him hunt and figure it out on his own or........
Crickets can be pretty hard to catch. You can try other bugs but when you feed crickets you can place them in front of him one at a time, hand feed, or put them in an escape proof bowl. Some geckos are better at certain feeding styles or prefer one more than the others.
Does anyone know of LG morphs that can take UVB light? We had sunglow radar stripe morph and noticed she found the Arcadia t5 shadedweller light too bright (would walk round with eyes closed) I contacted Arcadia and asked them and they advised they had been bred to be adverse to the light? Has anyone known this before? Thank you
I always see videos/pictures of leapord geckos in their tanks out in the open but mine always stays in his hides and I never see him other than when I'm feeding him (I have to tong feed him because he won't even come out for food) I try to give him lots of stuff to climb on/under. I haven't found videos or anything to tell me why he does this. I don't know what morph he is (he is white with a pink tint on his tail and a yellow tint on his body) but I've heard that you can't have too much light for albinos because it bothers them, could that be why? Is it possible to have too much stuff in his tank?
What heating do you use? Sometimes if it's too bright, if the heating it too hot or too cold, or if one hide is really nice and dark then they like staying in there a lot. You can almost never have too much in a geckos tank as they love climbing and exploring. They may be bored of the set up so you can try changing up the setup every 6 months to a year and they may go out and explore more. Not coming out for food is concerning, have you tried other feeding methods or turning off the lights when you feed them?
@@ozzys.geckos I have a 75w basking lamp/uv light combo lamp and a heating pad. The basking lamp is on a Thermostat so it will turn off when it gets too hot and back on when it gets too cold, but because I didn't want him to deal with his light turning on and off all the time I put a lamp on his tank so there's a constant light. I rearrange his tank and put new stuff in every so often. When I first got him he would come out of his hide and eat from the bowl but he wasn't really eating much, and then started not eating at all, so I tried tong feeding him and now he won't eat any other way. I never thought about turning off the lights when I feed him, I'll try that.
@@talins.trio.of.terror6744 if there is already natural light in the room then there is no need for a basking lamp as most of the purpose of it is to help them tell the difference between day vs night. You can probably find a heat lamp with uvb but if your gecko doesnt have uvb it's not going to affect their health. Good luck getting them to eat!!
@@ozzys.geckos There isn't any natural light in the room, so I have a uvb light in his tank. All the information I've found is that they (or anyone) need uvb light, even if it's just a little.
@@talins.trio.of.terror6744 ok, that's fine if theres no natural light. From my experience its beneficial but not needed for health reasons. Just what I found. do whatever works for you :)
For babies it's better to go simple and have small hides with paper towel in a small (5-10g) tank and for an adult I'd recommend a pretty big (20g+) complex set up with lots of things to climb on, eco earth, earthmix arid, and or paper towel
@@ozzys.geckos I was thinking about buying some sort of carpet will it be enough for an adult gecko? And also which insect feeder would be the best to keep and breed?
@@LeGozian reptile carpet will work well, you have have to buy multiple and clean it very often. It's really good to have a varied diet. Some that I can think of off the top of my head are dubia roaches, crickets, mealworms, silkworms, some superworms/waxworms as a treat, but I'd say you should do multiple of those to give them all the nutrients they need
What kind of soil do people use to keep the plants alive without harming the leopard gecko? I love how it looks and how much the geckos love it but I'm so bad at plants, rn our gecko is so tiny from being neglected so once we're able to get him healthy and he grows (alot) more I have 20 gallon (petstore sold us an adult beardie and said a 20 gallon was fine smh, quickly found out that was not the case) but atleast I now have a spare tank for the gecko my son rescued from his friends room mates... Anyways want to give him the happiest life possible after he went thru a hard life with them, just don't know how to do bioactive when Ive killed every plant I ever had 😭
How old? If it's a baby then it's more normal but for an adult, check if there is extra food in their tank as it may be annoying them. If not it could be another issue. You should definitely research on that though. Gl
@@leopardgeckotalk I mean You’re a gecko I’m sorry for your loss thank you for everything that you taught me I got a leopard gecko just the other day and I’m watching all your videos so I can learn everything
It depends on the size of the crestie. If it's a fully grown adult then it's probably fine, but if it's a baby or juvenile it might be intimidated by the large environment. I initially had a 12x12x18 exo terra (10 gal.) set up for my young crestie but his breeder told me to keep him in a smaller enclosure (< 5 gal.) until he hit 10 grams. But as long as it's eating well you should be good to go.
no I wouldn’t recommend this, it actually bothers them when it’s on all day and night, they can still see the light and prefer a natural day/night light cycle :) you can also use a normal led light if you need the extra light but the red light is still visible to them and shouldn’t be left on all day/night. i hope that helps!
@@beanbugi as long as there is natural light coming in from a window or a light in your bedroom, they really don’t need a light above their tank at all. If anything, it can be irritating for them to try to sleep with it shining on them and may make them hide more while it’s on. I don’t use additional lighting they just have a day/night cycle based on my bedroom light that’s on during the day and the sun from the windows :)
I’m sad mine wasn’t featured since my transformation was huge, but you probably got so many submissions since this hobby is always evolving! I made the mistake of listening to PetSmart employees for my first set up, what a long way we have come since then!! I love how accepting you are to the horrible set ups, as long as you’re willing to learn and grow that’s what matters!
i looked at your tank upgrade (idk what your old one looks like) and it looks great! i was only concerned about crowding but once you changed the angle it was clear there was a bunch of space!! i just want to give you some good recognition. nice job!
Ok so this probably isn’t the right video but it’s the most recent and I can’t exactly find anything on this I’ve watched this channel for a hour or two and thought this community could probably answer my question my crestie just put out this weird it looks like their actual skin it’s a spotted light grey and brown crusty bit their skin is completely fine it isn’t eggs my two credited will never mate this could be old food they felt like carrying somewhere and keeping it but I don’t know and they are laying right behind it like don’t touch this I know it’s not eggs just any help?
Because of you I got my very own gecko she came today!!! We have a TikTok if you would like to follow we absolutely love you!!!! TikTok Minnie_moo_the_leo
Hey is there anyway we can get your email so I can send a picture of my terrarium I am a first leopard gecko owner and I'm not quite sure but I don't think he's happy and I'm not sure but I just want to change and make him happy Edit: I really love your videos and seeing this one made me think maybe I can change
