Home Free were invited to a Country Festival in Austria, I was there for that Festival with my family. The whole region around the Achensee was absolutely stunning so I wasn't surpried that they decided to do a video there and it just fit this song-theme so perfectly! Btw, I have been in Austria quite a few times previousely but this region was really something else.
This was done in in the Austrian Alps. From what I've read, they were on tour in Europe & flew over this area while on the way to a gig. They thought it would be a great place to shoot a video & contacted their crew back in the US to make the arrangements. The long range shots were done with a drone. I get chills every time I listen to this. Adam Rupp has a very good voice, but doesn't like to take the lead on anything. He prefers the beatboxing or harmony, so it's nice when you get to hear him sing. I don't know that I've ever heard Afrikaans (did I spell that right?) before. It's a beautiful language. Great reaction.
Hi Ann, it is a beautiful location and a perfect choice for the song as well! Thank you so much, yes the spelling was perfect😁 as always thank you so much for all the information🤗
Your face when Adam started singing was brilliant. He has a beautiful tenor voice, but we don't hear it often, which is a shame. Beautiful song and beautifully sung. ❤❤❤
This is my absolute favorite of all the songs they do. It leaves you in awe and such a reverence that you can't help but be speechless. Beautiful scenery, beautiful voices, absolutely amazing!
The physical reaction when the music started. When your eyes closed and everything relaxed and you lost yourself. That said more than words ever could.
The new Christmas song Home Free released today was written by Austin as an ode to his grandmother. It is called "Warmest Winter" which is also the title to this year's Christmas album. It is an absolute beautiful song.
It is amazing how every so often you hear one of their songs and you find yourself saying: "this is fabulous, my new favorite. I think this is the most beautiful song that they have ever done." Then a few weeks later you find something else that takes the spot.
What I found interesting about the arragement is how the vocals started in the valley (Tim), moved up the mountainside (staff) to Rob, and climbed even higher (heaven?) with Austin. And the scenery fit the song so perfectly.
Wow, how very astute, your observation of the arrangement moving up with their voices !!! I read that and got a chill down my spine, Austin's voice being heavenly !!! So very True !!
THIS WAS MADE IN THE AUSTRIAN ALPS. IT IS ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SONGS THAT WAS EVER WRITTEN, THEN THE SCENERY BLOWS YOU AWAY. THANK YOU FOR YOUR COVERAGE. YOU DID A WONDERFUL JOB. I AM A CHRISTIAN AND I WAS SO INSPIRED. I HAVE BEEN HAPPY ALL DAY LONG!!!
This is a great mashup of 2 beautiful Hymns!! The flyover at the en took my breath away!! There’s a fantastic Live version of this in Kearney, Missouri! outside during a thunderstorm!! They loose power but has audience com in close & sing no amplification!! Very powerful performance! With thunder and lightning all around!! Whether serious or silly they never let you down!!! This was a beautiful video filmed in Austrian Alps. Auld Lang Syne is an old Scottish song on New Year’s Eve to say farewell to the old year before the new year begins! GREAT Reaction!!!
I think that is the most special performance I have ever seen... The thunder and lightning in the background just made the song so real. It wasn't the best performance the guys ever did, but with no mics and trying to make it loud enough for people to hear, and to get out of their warm dry bus, was beyond incredible.
Sometimes, music just touches your soul. That's how this song and Home Free makes me feel. I just call it music for the soul. Thank you for your great reaction
YES! This song is just incredible... I actually had the honor of seeing Home Free sing this without microphones during a concert. It was an amazing experience.. This song brings me to tears every time its soo beautiful! Thanks for your wonderful reaction. Have a safe healthy New Year. (New sub here.. thanks!! )
Hi Sally, thank you so much for subbing, i hope you enjoy the journey with us😁 You are so lucky and I am very jealous! It must have been an amazing experience😁
The video showing this event was amazing. There was a storm in Kearney that forced Home Free to cancel their outdoor show. My understanding is they joined their fans taking shelter in a picnic pavilion. They sang this song without mics and with the storm going on, lightning, etc.... It was so beautiful that they were trying to give their fans at least one song. The video was very moving. Search for How Great Thou Art Kearney, Mo to see it.
I thought exactly what you said at the end of the video, that you were in awe and speechless!! This is such a beautiful rendition! Then the scenery behind them! Yes! Adam has a lovely voice! We all wish he would get a solo part in a Christmas song, but he prefers not to sing much because he said so himself that he is the only one without vocal training. He loves beatboxing! We love his beatboxing skills, too! This song has a special place in my heart! I had a dear older cousin that sang this beautifully! I could see how much you enjoyed the video. You looked so calm. Home Free makes all of us Home Fries happy and joyful! You are a Home Fry, for sure!! They released a new video called “Warmest Winter”. It’s so good, but bring some tissues. ☺️
Hi Beth I amnreading this right after recording that episode. Could have used the advice before😅 I agree! You know after listening to that song, I think that these guys talk to your soul through their music. If that is even possible😅
This is the most beautiful version of this hymn that I’ve heard. It was one of the first times I’d heard Home Free, so I had to start exploring their other music and now am such a big fan.
This is my first time watching your reaction to Home Free's rendition of How Great Thou Art, even though I have watched the video many times before. Such an unbelievable blend of voices and pure talent, they take my breath away! As one other reactor put it, "Home Free is like a drug", you just can't get enough. They are truly amazing!
@@EchoesOfEmotionReact You have become my favorite reactor very quickly. There are more than a few reactors out there that are really difficult to take, so your videos are a great pleasure! Thank you!
The most stunning harmonies until you hear their cover of Helplessly Hoping - that will also knock you over. This was filmed near to Salzburg, Österreich. Very close to where The Sound of Music was filmed.
@@EchoesOfEmotionReact I have to learn not to just take someone else's word for it on the internet. But there are a lot of bitchy people too on the internet.
Yep, you said it for me. It was stunning. It’s the best version of the hymn that I have heard. The scenery, their voices, just encapsulate the song; how great God is in his creation, the beauty of nature, the mountains, the birds, the sky. We are blessed to have Home Free. I discovered them this year, this crappy year and I needed some joy and Home Free brought me joy. Thank you for your reaction. You said it well.
It is true, there Is something about their performance of this song that was mesmerizing !!!! This group of guys was destined to sing together, their voices, their personalities their unbelievable talent just mesh to make the perfect vocal group.!!!!! Why their superior work has not been acknowledged by the music industry is a puzzle to me.??? They certainly have many many loyal fans out there !!!!!
Hi Terri, I have been saying that as well! They are better than many of the "popular" groups out there. I guess they want to play by their own rules and not be signed into contracts😅
@@EchoesOfEmotionReact They have their own recording label now, I truly would like to see them recognized by the music industry, they have worked so hard for ther success. The song was recorded at the Austrian Alps. They were there for an a cappela festival and decided it would be a awesome sight for a video.
Excellent reaction, great to hear the few lines in Afrikaans from the hymn. They found the perfect filming location in the Austrian Alps while on tour in Europe. They were on tour again in the spring this year when they had to call off the rest of the programme and return home due to Covid19. Their quarantine songs from their various homes have all been excellent - finally singing together again with their most recent videos. ("On the road again" is a rather poignant version of a song they did, suited to them being off the road for so many months). I discovered them via RU-vid this time last year and enjoy their music so much.
I so agree with you...of all their videos....this is by far the most beautiful ! This video has the most beautiful vocal harmonies ever! When this is sang live...its even more stunning!
I knew you would love this, its just so beautiful, and matches perfect between lyrics, scenary and how they arranged this song. And cherry on the top, Adam's to lines, love his voice.
LT - Yes tears welled up as I listened and viewed again for the umpteenth time to this wonderful, awe inspiring video. It never gets old and just watching your heartfelt reaction thrilled my heart as well. You are a gentile kind soul that is touched by good and beautiful things - I appreciated you mentioning about this song in your language - I bet it is just as beautiful in your language as is in mine - If there's a link to it in Afrikaans, I would love to hear it....I'm sure Mr Google can find anything. I, like you, cut my teeth on this song growing up and this rendition is my all time favorite especially with "It is Well" so beautifully laced delicately within. Thanks so much for this reaction that will allow me to have a nice peaceful sleep from a maddening day at work. So looking forward to more HF reactions - God Bless you LT! RC
Hi Richie, it was such an amazing song. Every time I hear thin my whole body gets chills and if I feel down the tears are near😅 I am so sorry to hear you had a bad day at work, I hope it will be better tomorrow. At least this song has a sort of calming effect on one😊 There arenso many versions even in my language, from groups to female and male solo artists. But this one is very simple yet pure done in a church: m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iSUfj7gyqV8.html Thank you for always leaving such amazing comments Richie. Much love🤗
I have heard them sing this song, 50 times, or more, and that last bass note still gives me a chill. Very nice reaction. We all knew you'd love this. Take care.
Thank you! You are one of very few reactors who even noticed that Adam sang and the only one who talked about what a beautiful voice he has. His brother once said that Adam isn't comfortable taking the lead because unlike the others he's never had vocal training but I think he has such naturally beautiful tenor and he blends so well with the others that a lack of vocal training doesn't matter. I'm hoping someday they'll do a song that doesn't need him to beatbox and he'll take a bigger lead.
Wonderful to see you being moved and impressed by this, thank you for sharing your reaction with us. The harmonies on this are just incredible - five voices sounding like a church organ... Thank you for the Afrikaans version, that was really interesting to hear. One of the things I discovered when looking up the history of this beautiful hymn is that it was originally written in Swedish, and the tune is a traditional Swedish one. It was translated into German, from German into Russian, and then from Russian into English - and presumably then into Afrikaans, though that I don't know. A well-loved and well-travelled hymn. While you're reacting to Christmas songs, can I ask for the carol We Three Kings by the Hound and the Fox, featuring Tim Foust, or if you'd like more Chance, they did a version of the Christmas song (Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire).
Hi Sally, thank you so much for the kind feedback! I can certainly have a look at that one, I love the fox and hound as well😁 To my knowledge the translation was done somewhere after the German but my grandfather would know who, what and where. Regardless it is so amazing to have such a beautiful song in multiple languages🤗
This song and “Do you here what I here” are my top BREATHTAKING AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL songs from them, and that saying something because I absolutely love all of their songs! But those two move me in a specific special way that I cannot explain! Loved your reaction and had to Sub!!!
LT - it's the "Auld Lang Syne" we sing at New Years - "Should old acquaintance be forgot.....I'm sure you've heard it sometime in your life - it's a staple here in the US on New Years Eve at Midnight - we sing it...I think it Gaelic but HF's harmony is some of their best...funny I say that pretty much about all their stuff....LOL Anyway I think you'll like it as well since it is in the season of the old year waning and the new year coming in... RC
I was thinking we can perhaps end of the festive month with this song then? I am very curious to hear it but also want to acknowledge the true meaning of the song. Thank you for the info Richie😁
Tennessee Christmas with Rachel Wammack is another one you might like. I love the drone footage of the Austrian Alps in this one and the fact that we get to hear Adam sing a bit.
I've never really cared much for the song love the words and meaning but never cared for the music I guess but when they came out with this I was in awe! This is the only version that I love!
Loved this reaction, Lieben! Your face shows everything you're feeling...it's lovely. 🙂 And what a lovely added bonus to hear you speak in Afrikaans. I told you this one was beautiful vocally as well as visually. 🥰 I may have mentioned the one you couldn't remember/pronounce. 😁 "Auld Lang Syne"...it's traditionally sung at the New Year's Eve/Day transition to bid farewell to the old year. The phrase sort of translates to "for the sake of old times." Home Free's version is just exquisite. 💕
Hi Debs, thank you so much! I thought it would be nice to share a bit of my home language as well😁 You did tell me and it blew me away! Yes! I think we should end of the festive season then with that?😆
I love Home Free and all of their songs but this one really hits you differently. I too was speechless and in awe of the sheer talent in the group, the harmonies were just above and beyond the norm
Adam has a lovely voice, it's a pity he doesn't like to take the lead more often. I think the only time besides this I've heard him sing (I haven't heard everything they've done, admittedly.Yet!) is in Quarantine. And it's only a few words there, too. Sometimes I can pick his voice out when he's singing harmony instead of beatboxing and he always sounds beautiful.
The highest notes in this song, is all Adam. When you listen to the last vers, you can see and hear Austin and Rob sings, but there is a very high note in the back, and neighter Tim, nor Chance can go that high and clean.
From inspiring to silly and everything in-between, with many different genres, covers and originals. You just can’t go wrong, Hime Free leaves you smiling and brings out real feelings because their music moves you. Great reaction. Keep the Home Free coming. Many great suggestions already, I’d also recommend, Folsom Prison Blues, Country Roads, Dive Bar Saints, Can’t Stop the Feeling, End of the Road, and The Butts Remix.
Really like your reactions. Ive been a Home Free fan since they won the Sing-Off. i think you would like their cover of Vince Gill’s Go Rest high on that Mountain. The Church Session or official video , i like the simplicity of the Church session.. thank you
Finally subscribed. Austrian Alps. They were there for an a capella festival, I believe. Many surprises await for those that continue following Home Free.
@@EchoesOfEmotionReact I know Does a little bit on Zootopia, Holy Night, How Great Thou Art (as you just seen) and haplessly Hoping and a couple of others
Just subscribed to your channel. Keep the Home Free videos coming. You will never, never be disappointed. If you're talking about talent, they have, hilarious and gifted they you will definitely be drawn to them. Check out Down to the honky-tonk, Diamond Dreams, Meet in the Middle, Moonshine and God bless the USA featuring Lee Greenwood and the United States Air Force Band.
Just about my favorite of all time from them. Makes me tear up every time! May I suggest their cover of Wake me up by Avicii. It is one of their earliest and it is amazing.
Filmed in the Austrian Alps. Awesome vocals, awesome production values..... awesome reaction too. (An awesome theme going here) Maybe consider Auld Lang Syne the week after Christmas?
My user name is a result of my fiance going to South Africa for family affairs. And then disappearing. She was teaching me Afrikaans, as I grew up in a dutch settled area. How I figured it out.
