I agree with your reaction as much as it pains me, she is still the best singer I have listened to and I have been singing and loving music for most of my 82 years! I perfomed this song many times, she restyled it and it didn't work! I have never listened to any singer who didn't put out some songs that i didn't like, there are no perfect people, so there are no perfect singers! Then of course we are all different, I even saw one reaction to Angelina's Bohemian Rhapsody that hated it, personally I don't see how anyone could dislike this version of this song!

When Quincy Jones called her the greatest talent that he has seen since a young MJ,I have no doubt that he was being deadly serious.

I think I previously said, watch this and stop doubting if Angelina can deliver. She comes out of the starter gate like a race horse. It you held on a few more seconds the film pans back and you see how big the orchestra is, and an indication of the crowd. It’s really a matter of does what she has done go with your tastes.

My favorite 'scene' is, towards the end, she is wailing and the conductor leans back and looks at her, unbelieving. DISbelieving. He has this hard grin on his face and finally catches himself and returns to conducting. I don't know how often they rehearsed this. Three times? Five? Ten? But he looks stunned - like he's never heard her Go Full-Blown Angelina on him. It's a wonderful small scene - his knee bends a bit, to catch himself... I always wonder how often the band in PUT A SPELL had to hear her sing with them before they stopped dropping their cues, their horns or were just flat-out stopped dead by her vocals.

I agree it's a 10 and you have to consider it is recorded on a cell phone. I imagine we missed a lot of the texture and nuance in her voice. She did James Brown proud on this one.

To do what she did with this song at 12 years old... impossible. ...and yet, there it is. The flavors she put on that vocal still blow me away every time I hear it... and I have heard it a lot. I have been waiting for you to hear this one since you started doing Angelina reactions. As others have said, this is a track on her album "It's Magic". I love her album version... the studio recording really allows you to hear some of the subtleties of her vocals.

That's the Norwegian Staff Military Band...they put out a CD as a fundraiser and had Angelina do all the vocals on it. The CD is called "It's Magic".

I do believe that while yet unknown to many she's already a superstar of the universe. She's like an extraordinarily beautiful flower in its bud slowly spreading its petals for everyone to see and appreciate in awe, but in God's perfect time and not any mortal. To us her 'angels', we already know that so much so that we're always excited to listen to her music over and over, day in and day out...

Yes!!! Chills! Convincing! Yes...nailed it and maybe it’s bc she is too young but I would have liked seeing more body emotion in her performance on this song for emphasis. For that reason 9.5. Love!!!!!

Maunalee music is a picture to me and every other singer in this picture is a part of the river that runs through it; some slow and meandering, some swift and exhilarating and some rapid and risky. All the while there is our Angelina Jordan off in the distance towering over everyone just waiting to erupt because she is the volcano who shakes the very earth we all walk on and sends chills down our spines when she graces us with her gift; that beautiful, resonating, warm blanket of a voice.

There's a sincerity about you that is appealing and refreshing, Maunalee. You need to listen to the audio-only rendition of this song. The mixing of this performance was not ideal, as the band drowned out Angelina's voice. She is an amazing talent and needs to be heard properly. Even if you don't post your reaction, you need to hear it. You'll be glad you did.

Thank you for your always good reaction to good music. Angelina was 12 years old here. Angelina's age is easy to forget, as she has such a mature voice. Too bad the recording is done with "fancam" / cell phone But it doesn't matter to the greatness of Angelina who wants to spread great music around the world. Rumors say she is working on a record coming this year.

She's really good when she's performing live with a jazz orchestra, the rehearsal and practice like videos are great but this is where she really shines.

You mentioned your favorite old school bands. My mom was a famous singer in the late 40’s and early 50’s. She was the main attraction lead singer when the Big Bands would come into the Pittsburgh area. She sang with Glen Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Duke Ellington, Artie Shaw, and many others. She sang at all of her 6 children’s weddings, and left show business to get married, and never looked back. Miss her lots. You have an old soul, which is why you are attracted to Angelina Jordan. My mother would have loved her.for sure.

Everyone talks about reincarnation, but I just think she is a true blue angel sent to earth. Old soul sure, but not necessarily reduplicated. I love this girl with all my heart because she opens my heart when she sings and fills it with joy.

I laughed when she said the men in uniform could be veterans. They are HER band.

She sound like an old soul because she has studied the classics thoroughly and has captured all the tricks and nuances of the greats' styles and timing. I just hope she doesn't run out of songs worthy of her interpretation.

Many people singing this would be doing gyrations, bending at the hip, waving an arm in the air and really "getting into it". James Brown always did it that way (because he could). Angelina just stands there and belts it out as if this were just another day in the park. She attacks that high E so effortlessly, it's astounding. As I always say, Angelina doesn't sing songs. She sings emotions that go directly to our souls to create beauty and joy. This is Angelina's world. We just live in it!

I have only seen your show three times and enjoy your personality , interesting, cute and human reactions!!! I can’t get enough of Angelina!!! I am 72 and totally love 30’s, 40’s and 50’s music and can’t get over you do at your young age👍🤗!

This is her second classic after the first one at age 9. Each time i listen to Angelina singing this iconic song, i revisit three main qualities that she exhibits: 1. the power of her lungs for a 12 year old; 2. her voluntary mispronounciation of certain words, expressions and of an entire phrase to give the necessary color to the lyrics; and 3. her semblance of nonchalance on stage. By singing so forcefully, could she endanger her vocal chords? I think so. That is why she started not long ago after her black and white video I Put a Spell On You to sing that song differently in order to protect her voice from that risk. She did the same after that performance with this song here. To display on the screen the lyrics would confirm for all of us how Angelina the artist manipulates vocally her diction to make a song her own. She did the same for Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. It is impossible to understand the lyrics here without havind the text of the lyrics on hand. She even goes so far as dragging the tempo to imitate the movement of a train at 3:47. That sort of seemed nonchalance is her way, for now, to dominate the stage by being herself and ignoring almost completely the acting part of the performance. During her live concerts, it happens that she just walk around the center stage like if it was a reherseal. A time will come when her presence on stage will be completely different. For one thing, she will use her piano when she will be able to sing without focusing on the notes. Thank you, Maunalee, for scoring fairly Angelina's performance in that outdoor venue: 10 on 10, perfect score (I would have said 10+, if allowed to!).

Finally you have reacted to this video.. i am one of AJ’s super fan and yet her performance of this song blew my mind 🤯.. it’s not only that the performance is not what i expect from someone of her age but also the emotions she evoked from me while listening to her and that is a lot from someone who originally did not even like jazz (i am still not a fan of the genre but i just love love Angelina 😜). I always find your reactions refreshing and 95% of the time I agree with you. You really need to download her CD “it’s Magic” and I am sure you will love it as much as I do.

In her album "It's Magic" from 2018 there is a studio version of it and it is awesome. The entire album is wonderful i love it and i live her, am a huge fan. I strongly recommend this album

This is one of the many great songs on her studio album "It's Magic". You can order the CD from her official channel. Or from any of the premium channels (Amazon, Apple, iTunes, Spotify, etc.). Or you can download from those channels. It's a terrific album, and I believe it's #1 in the Jazz genre on iTunes (read that somewhere). Her performance here is great, but better on the album (IMO), where she is not competing with the band for volume. And there's a lot of other great songs on that album. This was posted in the summer of 2018, so she must be 12 here. Anyway, it's a great performance, and the crowd wouldn't stop clapping. Must have been a great concert. Hi Maunalee, I am 66, and I also love a lot of 30s 40s music, Glen Miller was my parents fav. Both when in the Royal Airforce, and saw Glen play. A lot of modern music is awful but to hear Angelina sing old or modern songs she just makes it sound brand new. Keep up the reviewing best wishes to you all.
