Thank you for another wonderful Angelina reaction! Please accept my condolences on the passing of your Grandmother. My maternal grandmother was my soul mate and it was devastating when she died. You cried in each of your reactions to Angelina, you already knew you would in this one. Wasn't her song spectacular? When “Million Miles” came out on November 6th, I, like I’m sure many people , listened to it over and over, and was in awe of the power in the music, lyrics and artwork. The more I listened and watched, the more I wanted to find a way to make others aware of this masterpiece. I live in a large U. S. midwestern city that has four major hospital groups, 150 funeral homes and 25 hospice organizations. I drafted a cover letter and an information sheet about Angelina, the complete lyrics and how “Million Miles” can be viewed on RU-vid and the various ways to purchase it. I mailed the letters to all of them and asked that they copy the information sheet to give to families grieving the loss of loved ones so they can listen to the song and hopefully find some comfort and peace from it. I encourage everyone to find creative ways to get “Million Miles” into the hands, ears and hearts of as many people as possible.
As already mentioned it's a tribute to her grandfather. She earlier did a heartfelt cover of "Always on my Mind" and specifically dedicated it to him. They must have been very close as she continues to mourn his passing. 💔
It's really important to remember that he used to take her with him when he fed homeless people..this is where the seeds of her compassion were sowed imo. ))
Turns out, this is not about the same grandfather she dedicated "Always on My Mind" to. That grandfather died in March 2018. This one is about her other grandfather who died in November 2019.

I believe Angelina experiences a similar feeling to what she wrote in her book "Mellom to hjerter" ("Between Two Hearts"), about the shoeless girl who she gave her shoes to, when she thinks about her grandpa, and hence the ladder to the heavens in the lyric video: "It was like there were stairs from the earth to the heavens. And I climb the stairs...."I stand between the heavens and the earth I stand between two hearts.” The video and Angelina and Grandma Mery’s artwork are a stroke of pure genius. Unlike many lyric videos it really expresses Angelina’s feelings, and enhances the viewer’s experience with this emotionally beautiful song. Angelina posted on her Instagram story (Nov. 12, 2020) a video of her in a professional recording studio. To me, if this is a recent video which I believe it is, means she's able to finish her album in L.A. This would be great news to all Angelina fans.
Her Grandmother (a well know artist herself) did the illustrations , the part I really love about them is that at the end she closes the memory book, as thought to say, "there's a time to take these memories out and fully experience them, and a time to put them away again".

A little fact. She always is barefoot when she perform in public. Based on the true story of when she was six years old, Angelina met a homeless, shoeless girl. After they talked for a long time, she gave the girl her shoes and vowed never to appear on stage again wearing shoes until all the world's children had them. Since that time, Angelina has always performed barefoot in public.
Much like Amy Winehouse when she wrote and sang 'Back To Black' to remember the loss of a loved one, Angelina did her own personal tribute to her departed grandfather. What she said about her Grandmother, Iranian artist Mery Zamani: She is my inspiration and my other half. So all the styling stuff, art work, videos, paintings she did in cooperation with her. Mery was the one, who introduced her to Jazz. If you listen to her version of "Rehab" (Must watch) (Kongsberg Jazz festival vid) where she changed the lyrics appropriate to her, there is a part about her Grandma. The vid contains a pictiure of all her family.
I lost my husband almost three year ago just before Christmas. His birthday is next week. My niece I have custody of is missing him a lot right now. He was her only father figure. I think this song would do her some good right now.

The song is beautiful, delivered by a beautiful girl with a beautiful voice and an even more beautiful heart. I think the imagery used in the video is amazing. It's based on artwork from Angelina's grandmother Mery Zamani, a noted Iranian artist and poet. There are a couple of things that jump out at me. First is the image of the girl with her arms outstretched like she's holding the moon.
