They'll do a revamp and hope add a new verse because it gets a little repetative after the hook. I love the staging and this is my favorite type of music but what we have now is not THAT good, a revamp is needed and some budget in Rotterdam, will definitely stand out among the ballads and pop tracks
Completely agree that it feels like a demo track. Hopefully a revamp happens so the music can be reworked more. Performance was great but I do think Athena needs more practice and a coach to help her with her diction and enunciation. If she’s going to do this it needs to be done well. Eurovision needs more urban elements but we need to do it right. She can get there if they work on it- otherwise, like Alesia said, it’s lazy.
You literally said everything that needs to be said. An ethnic revamp and a 'moment' is what Chains on You needs because Athena can DELIVER. If they do that, she'll definitely stand out in Rotterdam.
I just know that if Armenia won, they would put on hell of a show the following year. Also, good to have you back on the Eurovison grind Alesia, I have missed your videos 😭
I hope maybe during that time between all entries have been revealed and before rehearsals start that you do a video based on someone’s “top 50 National final songs” so you can have an idea of some of the amazing songs because there’s loads that I think you’d LOVE and add to your playlists
I like your point about the spoken parts; a better execution of those would really elevate the song. I'd point their team to Maruv's two Vidbir performances last year for a couple of great examples of how spoken parts in songs can be executed really effectively. Excited to see what the revamp will sound like! Good luck Armenia!
yeh I'm really excited for the end production on the Esc stage too! Luv this vibe & I'm so thrilled she got through, Athena is so amaazzing, go Ǥurl 💎👌
Athena is a good singer. She is Greek, was born and raised in Greece by greek mother and greek/armenian father. She was talented as a child and performs some songs. She struggles to make it on the greek stage, music industry and she tried to represent Greece few times, but Armenia gave her the chance. She is a good artist and she has a good material but she needs to do some improves. Good luck!
If they made it to the final they will be 9th or 10th in the semi, BUT if everything IS EPIC the staging and all the other stuff they could end up 6th or 5th in the semi. May it happen lmao they deserve to be in the final
Among Depi Evratesil acts she was clearly the only one who deserved to win! Overall we had a horrible national selection this year! Not only a revamp but also she needs to improve her vocals till May
No some of the songs were ok, but "Chains on You" was definitely the winner. Everyone's reaction is that they were pleasantly surprised at Athena's live vocals but you're finding fault in them, um strange? I agree with the majority she has a nice voice & what's really important is that it SUITS the song. Get ready for the end production & for Athena to really show you what its all about! I believe in Athena & she will rock that Esc stage, go Ǥurl 💎👌
Alesia, love your review cause it s completely on point! Please dont sell out like others and say good things only when someone contributes... if u know what i mean. would be great if you make an other reaction with the revamped version which came out few days ago! Lovex
@Azor Αζώρ wow so now we're getting right down to Athenas Greek3/4 : Armenian1/4 percentages! But what really counts is that Athena said her ❤️ will always be with Armenia because they gave her a chance for the Esc. Armenia has recognised her talent & hopefully will help her career along for her to shine bright like a 💎 wooohooooo just wait to see her slayyyyy:)
I like the song, not my favorite but it's ok. But if Armenia wants to be in the final, then Athena needs A LOT of rehearsals, hope they got the money and time to invest in improving her
I know this comment will be a unpopular opinion but I dont care, SHE IS MY WINNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love this song so much! its just a little bit im complaining about, They should revamp the song to make it more amazing! And Athena needs a little bit of vocal training in my opinion and she needs to say what shes singing more clearer but those are just my complainants! I hope Armenia will qualify to the grand final again!
Don't worry I believe in Athena's potential & it will climb up the ladder of popularity closer to the Esc week. It feels to me that its's going to be a shocker dark horse:)
Ok. I just had a look at some of her videos like from x-factor. I find her quite cocky and up herself and that shows in her performance. The more I watch her Depi Evratesil performance, the more I notice little things like the air of confidence but without really good results vocally wise.
its funny you mention "purposeful" and Benny Cristo because over the last few days, i finally hit on what was missing for me with his song: the verses don't feel purposeful; they feel meandering and all the power is in the hook. As for Athena's track, its not my last place, but it's definitely not in my top 5 right now. But apparently its getting a revamp, as evidenced by the other comments, so hopefully she and Benny can come back even stronger.
Sorry but you clearly don't get the genre. For this kind of song in the trap genre, the playful, tricky enunciation is what works best. That's what works for these kinds of songs otherwise if the words were pronounced perfectly for you to understand it wouldn't sound like a trap song. Also what's really important in the performance of any song, is that the voice of the singer, SUITS the song. For "Chains On You" , Athena's voice definitely suits the song she's singing:)
It definitely needs a revamp. It is like a badly written demo. I want the ethnic element present throughout the song. I find the lyrics kinda cheesy and meaningless but 7 rings by Ariana is a big hit and that's the first thing that crossed my mind listening to chains on you...They could do something with that.
You are not wrong. In wiwi interview she said she wrote the song when she was on the bus for less than 30 min and record it in studio for 2 hours or something like that.
@Purple kitty lol you seem quite the passive-aggressive type. What youre saying is not that different from what i summarized. Instead of ridicule me you can just correct me, instead you need to include personal attacks. It just shows what person you are. I hope and wish you to become better person.
@@film4o C'mon you choose to write a comment agreeing with someone else who uses nasty descriptive words such as "cheap & "cheesy" for the song. Then you add undertones of sarcasm & agree with the quality of the song being poor because of the timeframe it took to write it. You were clearly writing a "critical analysis😅" of your opinion with ridicule:) They're just typical Esc comments which are irrelevant. I hope you learn to be more polite & positive:)
@@purplepassionpawsYes, i think the quality of the song is very poor on almost all levels. To be clear I think you can write and produce quality product for very short amount of time, but this is not the case here. Its one thing to share your opinion or even ridicule a song or product and its another to ridicule, insult a human being with feelings for just having a different opinion than yours. How im not being polite? I could've tried to offend your intelligence the way you did and then remove it the way you did. Please work on accepting different opinions. Im not the one posting on almost every comment who dislikes the song. Its great that you like the song, but dont waste your time trying to change peoples perception of it and insulting them in the process. I love Armenia, but this is the weakest song for me so far. Again, im glad that you like it, but dont go and try to make people feel bad for not having the same opinion as you.
film4o Opinions are for people to pronounce them in a civil way. This last comment of yours is a good improvement on how to articulate your opinion in a nice way, that’s all I’m saying:)
Is it bad that this song made me laugh when I first heard it? I think it's going for sultry, but it's kinda tacky and messy for me. But Eurovision would be less fun without songs that are completely ridiculous and over the top.
@Azor Αζώρ wow so now we're getting right down to percentages! But what really counts is that Athena said her ❤️ will always be with Armenia because they gave her a chance for the Esc. Armenia has recognised her talent & hopefully will help her career along for her to shine bright like a 💎 wooohooooo just wait to see her slayyyyy:)
So far this one is my last place. That is solely because I hate this type of music. I didn't follow the Armenian NF, but I know there was better. I do want to wait for the revamp before setting on my opinion though.
The song is ok and does have potential. But so far it lacks any authenticity. This performance looks and sounds like a mediocre "Beyoncé-Wannabe"-copy. There is a thin line between grace and tackiness. Athena constantly is in danger of overstepping this line. Sometimes less is more. Athena was a contestant at X Factor UK 2018 and Simon Cowell criticised her look for being dated, which I fully agree to. Overknees and leotard in 2020? Seriously? Everything about this performance badly needs a revamp - sound, styling, choreography and her pronunciation.
My last place currently. This song sounds very cheap and bitchy. I hope she can improve her singing, because its worse than karaoke. Definitely a step down from last year. Good luck to Armenia. One of my favorite countries, but this is a big letdown. At least the staging is not bad.
I think the charm of esc is that it shows that english isnt first language.. (heard you when the song was playing saying pronosiation isnt good) so you, GIRL should back off. .
