People tend to assume BTS doesn’t have many older fans but over 45% of fans are over the age of 25 years old with fans well into their 80’s…

Absolutely! In our family BTS army(fans) range in age from 5-90. I am so glad my 38 year old daughter at the time (early 2020) asked me to listen to them. I have NEVER regretted it. They are all humble & caring, & multi-talented. Those who do not delve into their music are REALLY missing out. Once you go down the BTS rabbit hole your life gets better. Really.

I was pleasantly surprised and obviously wrong about them. Part of the reason I started my channel was to find great music I hadn't heard before. And BTS fits that mold.

@@NateRockne BTS is big, really big but they could have been way bigger. But they refused to play the industry game and the leader of BTS had once even said they don't want to be mainstream. Unfortunately, the media just wants to potray BTS as this very superficial Kpop band that has no deep lyrics nor artistry, they managed to trick people that BTS only has these teenager fans that only likes their looks and they only release this generic pop music which is why they're popular.

"BTS is for teens only" it is a common misconception/stereotype perpetuated by crappy media and lazy journalism. Kpop is an industry not a genre - and BTS covers a wide range of musical styles. they have a diverse discography, meaningful lyrics that come from the heart about growing up and dealing with.. life. they're very positive and motivational, even on dis tracks addressing the years of hate they've dealt with. I'm 58 - been to thousands of live shows - and i can honestly say seeing BTS live was transformative and one of THE best shows I've ever attended. it's immersive, interactive, and truly magical. Be sure to put the CC on for their MV's. If youre serious about learning more - ARMY can provide you lots of suggestions, links to our fav songs, provide you history and info, and documentaries and song explanation videos, dance practices, and a plethora of content. Here for your journey into the rabbit hole and wild ride that is BTS. prepare to have all your expectations and preconceived ideas blown away. Not every song will be for you - all we ask is you're respectful and ARMY will be very generous/eager to assist. Say hi to your ARMY daughter and tell her Borahae!

I'm a 62 year old classic rock, metalhead, grunge era loving grandma & a proud BTS ARMY. I really enjoyed your reaction & it makes my heart happy what made you decide to give them a listen. These guys are genuine legends & each incredibly talented in their own way. They have such a diverse catalog of music, there is something for everyone to enjoy, no matter your age, gender, cultural background...they bring people around the world together with their music & messages. They are currently working on solo projects while members fulfill their mandatory military service in SK, and all of their solo work has been very successful on US Billboard charts with rap, pop, rock & blues. All seven members have already renewed their contracts to come back together as a group in 2025 after they have all completed their service. They are going into their second decade as a band. That in itself is almost unheard of for any K-pop group, or any so called "boyband" for that matter. My 24 year old son took is me to see SUGA, aka Agustd, in May as a mother's day gift. He surprised himself & loved it so much that he's also now a huge BTS fan (or baby ARMY, as we like to say). SUGA once said "You’ll like BTS music if you listen without prejudice". Thank you for giving them a try. It's really an almost surreal experience when you begin your journey down the BTS rabbit hole. Take care 💜

I don't know why people will just refuse to like a song just cause it's BTS....like the prejudice is insane. If it's good, it's good. Just cause an artist is big and popular doesn't mean they're not good. And BTS wasn't big or popular for a long time, they were very disadvantaged underdogs in the industry and even mistreated and shunned because they came from a small non mainstream company. They struggled financially for a while, even almost went bankrupt. They clawed their way to the top through effort and talent, and worked themselves to the bone for nearly 10 years non stop.

Hi there, I am a 66year old Army( BTS fandom) here. This is a lovely song done by BTS's 4 members of their vocal line, there are 7 of them with another 3 members in the Rap line. Welcome to the BTS rabbit hole! BTS is a literal gem in the music industry and you will understand why the more you listen to them and see their personalities. They came from a company that struggled financially to the point of bankruptcy. They worked day and night without breaks, cut from broadcasts, to all live in one bedroom. For one of their early albums, they had to create it in a small garage…but their hard work as not in vain. They sold the legendary Wembley Stadium in London in just 90 minutes for 2 nights in 2019, Rose Bowl and So-Fi. BTS is not your typical western boyband. They don’t talk about girls and love (Now they don’t do that anymore which is why their fanbase has grown and now consists of mostly adults and even people in their 50s and older. In their early days they did have the school boy crush concept, but apart from that they also sung about the problems and corruption of the South Korean school system, something other K-pop groups never did at the time) but rather touch on subjects like the journey towards loving yourself, the troubles of the youth, loss, mental health, government corruption ( like their song Spring Day for example which has a deep connection to the Sewol Ferry Disaster in which more than 300 people, mostly children, passed away while the government tried to hide the incident and even blacklist the families of the victims. The explanation by Italian ARMY is the best one to see btw) and many more. They also have a very big male following (I myself am a 19 year old male ARMY :D) They even touch on philosophy, literature and psychological concepts. They also have a fictional storyline called the Bangtan Universe, which is a huge section to dive into. It involves MV’s, books, notes and many more, all connected to create a cohesive storyline. As of now, they sadly won’t release any music since they’ll be serving the mandatory Korean Army from 2022 to 2025 when they’re expected to return as a group. 3 members have enlisted so far. In 2022 they told us that they will take a break from group work and each pursue their solo career. As of now, all the members have released solo albums except for youngest member Jungkook, who will release his album on November 3. It’s always best to watch an explanation for the BTS members before delving deeper into their music :D They are one of the few artists that write, compose and produce literally all of their songs on every album. They mainly sing in korean but in their 300+ discography they also have songs/albums fully in japanese. They also have 3 full-english songs that weren’t written or produced by them, one of them, Permission to Dance was a gift from Ed Sheeran. They were just songs to cheer people up during the pandemic. They don’t represent the essence of BTS. They have as of now 5 Grammy nominations, 28 Guiness World Records and are currently the 4th most awarded artist in history with 800+ awards, along with Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston or Beyonce. They are more then a K-pop group/“boy band”. They are artists and legends. If you want to learn more about them, check out these videos: XCeleste’s Introductions to BTS and ARMY, Rice Squad’s “Most beautiful life goes on, A story of BTS (2023 update)” XCeleste’s “BTS harships” You can record your full reaction and pause the video, ARMY likes to watch a video no matter the length ;) Again, thanks again! I hope you’ll continue diving into their music and also watch Taylor Nakamoto’s introduction to BTS. You’ll understand everything and it’ll make you understand why BTS is so special.

I’m a 53 year-old ARMY, and yes BTS does have a lot of fans of all ages! This is one of my favorite songs the vocal line sings. Thank you for giving them a listen. You should definitely also see this done in a performance video. They often are even better live than in their recordings. This song is from their Love Yourself - Tear album. Their albums are pretty thematic and this one explores the idea that we can never find true love if we have to wear a mask to be accepted. The intro to the album is Singularity, a solo song by V, and the title track is called "Fake Love", featuring all the members. Its a great album. If you choose to explore further please turn on the cc for subtitles since they usual sing in a mix of Korean and English. btw, 70 yo here. I'm so thankful I found BTS when I did (2016). 52yo Australian BTS ARMY since 2016 (my mum 74 and grandmother 90 also BTS ARMY) 💜The Truth Untold - for anyone who doesn't know.... this is how they conceptualised the song: They created a very old and sad story called, 'La Città di Smeraldo' that takes place in a small town in Italy ( in the 16th Century -1500's). The story's about an 'ugly' man who hid in an old castle alone, even though he was a gentle good person, because of his looks he received lots of hate & cruelty while growing up. He never opened his heart to anyone. Eventually if anyone tried to approach him, he covered his deformed face with a mask and hid in fear, ...So he became bitter and angry. His one happiness in life was to plant beautiful flowers in his walled off garden. One night a woman appeared near the man's castle. She jumped over the garden fence and stole a flower. This angered the man at first. So he watched his garden all night. But when he fell asleep, the woman took another flower. This continued for several nights. The man pretended to be asleep and watched the woman steal a flower. He started becoming curious about the woman. He began waiting for her. Without realizing he started waiting for her to come and each day began to seem a little brighter. Following after her one day he realized that she was selling the flowers that she stole from him to try to make a living. The man falling in love so desperately wanted to help the woman. But he was afraid she would be terrified by the way he looks if he approached her. He 'knew' she would never be able love his 'grotesque' appearance. He came to a conclusion that the only way he would be able to help her is to keep himself hidden and let her continue stealing flowers from his garden. The man decided to make a flower that doesn't exist on the planet. So that the woman could sell them at a expensive price. He began to create the flower in his castle. After many unsuccessful attempts, the man created the most beautiful of all flowers (The Smeraldo Flower) and filled his garden with these beautiful flowers. But the woman stopped coming. No matter how long he waited she never came back to his garden. He eventually found out that the woman had starved to death before he could give her the flower that would have saved her. If only he had been brave enough to approach her😭 The smeraldo flower plays a part in the Bangtan Universe storyline, and you will see it in various MVs. The Smeraldo flower symbolizes the sincerity that could not be delivered. The moral of the story, as interpreted by BTS, is that people are entrapped in the depths of misery and darkness due to a lack of self-love and confidence. The protagonist would have probably felt much better, had he talked to her and confronted his fears and insecurities. In addition, another aspect is the way people are affected by childhood trauma and dysfunctional families. The man was highly affected by his childhood trauma caused by nasty comments made by people. Have a WONDERFUL Day💜💜

Thank you for the reaction. As your daughter may have told you, these 4 singers are the vocal line and the other 3 members are rappers. Their music can only be considered K-pop in as much that they are part of the Korean music industry. BTS started in 2013 as a hip-hop group and now create many different genres of music. Their large catalogue includes: hip-hop, rap, pop, EDM, Latin pop, rock, R&B, & ballad like this song. They are known for their meaningful lyrics starting from when they were teenagers criticising the overwhelming expectations adults put on students to songs highlighting social injustice and covering subjects such as mental health, female empowerment, self love, equality, and many more. Their lyrics and message have helped and given comfort to many people going through difficult times even going as far as being life saving. They are currently pursuing solo projects while they each fulfill their mandatory military enlistments until they reunite in 2025. Each project is very individual and different from the group as a whole and eachother. I don't know what you mean by "the younger crowd", about 70% of ARMY (BTS fans) are over 18 and over 15% are over 30 (I myself am 62). I invite you to listen to more BTS music, from the entire group and each individual member, I'm sure there's lots you will like.

It's lovely to see people with different music tastes still find these young, talented artists named BTS and enjoy their music. BTS is not considered K-pop by many people who know their music. 4 amazingly talented vocal line and 3 exceptional rappers joined together without even knowing how talented they are from the beginning. They honed their skills through their training years and found their talent through the way to their success. I am 40 years old with a background of love for Rock and Metal music. I would never have imagined I would love BTS before I decided to discover their music. Their music genre is diverse, and they produce and write songs in different genres. I am sure if you continue to discover their music, you will find yourself amazed by their talent and music. Listen to rap-line (RM, Suga/AgustD, Jhope) music and Vocal-line (Jin, Jimin, Taehung/V and Jongkook/JK) songs and BTS as a group, and you will find yourself a new fan of these young, talented artists. I enjoyed watching your heartful, genuine reaction and hope to see more of your reactions to BTS. I am sure ARMYs (BTS Fandome) will educate you through the rabbit hole. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

Loved your reaction! They sing with their hearts, whether it's sad songs like this, happy-fun songs (Anpanman, Boy With Love, Otsukare), angry songs (Tear, 4 Cyphers, Not Today), or just easy listening songs (Best of Me, My City, Magic Shop, 134340) and many, many others. These guys have been together since their debut on June 13, 2013 and have really had a hard , difficult road to get where they are now. Their love for music and ARMY's are what got them through. They don't hide what they are feeling and we love and support them 100%. I, age 62, was introduced to them by my daughter, who is now 33, right before the pandemic in 2019. My mom, now age 95, and I have not looked back. 💜 Hope we see more of you here on RU-vid enjoying the guys. You won't be disappointed. Say hello to your daughter from us. 💜

Hi! Nice to meet you! I enjoyed your reaction, I hope you do more BTS because they really are great! The story behind this song is quite sad. If I remember correctly, the song is inspired by a story of a man who was ugly/believed he was ugly, who had isolated himself and hid his face from people after much harrassment and bullying. A woman had begun stealing flowers from his garden to sell because she was struggling to survive. At first, he was upset and wanted to catch her, but after learning her situation, he empathized and started seeking her company. He became attached to her. Thus, he started creating an expensive and beautiful emerald flower for her, but she had stopped showing up to his garden. He was confused and had wanted to express his love to her and help her, but he had run out of time, as the woman had passed away. He spent the rest of his life in misery as he thought that if he had confessed sooner and had not been so afraid to show himself without a mask, he might have been able to save her. This song was released during BTS's "Love Yourself" era and conveyed the message that in order to properly love others, you must first love yourself. The song connects with BTS as well to convey some of their insecurities. To ask, if they show their true selves and take off their "masks," would their fans still love/support them?

I know you're new but keep an open mind. First of all this song was from the four main vocalists in the group there are also three rappers in addition. So there are seven members. I am a 66-year-old male BTS fan (ARMY). You will probably be surprised that the majority of their fan base is between 25 and 65 (but range from adolescents to 70s) and approximately 35% of the fan base is male. A significant number of their fans are metal heads & hip hop/rap fans. There are 10 years worth of discography and hundreds of songs in many different genres.

And I became ARMY two years ago after having just looked them up to understand who they were after just hearing “BTS” several times. I had NO idea I would become a fan because I had no reason to think K-Pop would be of any interest to me (and to be honest it still mostly isn’t) and I had never been a fan of any of the boy groups of my teen years and so on. I just watched a video and then another and then another and then here I am watching videos every day still and totally one of those obsessed fans I never would have understood before. I hate that I had no idea I was starting this journey so that I don’t remember even what I watched in those first days…it just happened to me. 😅

Thank you for checking out BTS. An unusual intro to BTS but a lovely one. This was also the song that introduced me to them. I heard V's voice (the baritone) and just wanted to hear more. That was in Sept 2020. BTS are by far the best band I have ever known and I am a 51 year old ARMY from UK. I grew up as a rock and metal head. I hope you check out more of their music. All 7 members write, compose, and produce music. Their lyrics are deep, often sounding like a love song but often introspective or about friendship or their fanbase rather than a romantic relationship. These were the 4 vocalists but the other 3 members are rappers, and incredible ones. They cover many genres. I recommend reacting to BTS Festa Room LIVE 2021. It is a live performance of snippets of B sides from their debut in 2013 to 2021. You will be surprised at the diversity of music and they are better live than in a studio recording. Subscribing hoping you do more 💜

@@NateRockne In IGNORANCE perspective, BTS is just another POP band who releases generic bubble gum pop music with shallow lyrics but since they're blessed with good looks so many teenage girls are so into them. They're only big because they came from a big company and they have the Kpop industry and American music industry backing them up coupled with their South Korean President promoting them. They are also known as chart manipulators. But in reality it's the exact opposite. BTS is not pop nor are they a Kpop band. They're multi-genre artist who accepted their image as an idol. BTS came from a very small company near bankruptcy that has no capital, power or influence to promote them. And BTS were never accepted nor supported by the Kpop Industry and the American Music Industry and they are certainly not in good terms with their government. Also the real manipulators are the music industry not BTS. You can't even count how many times the music industry sabotaged BTS. Besides, most of their fans are quite old. So it's not strange you'd find BTS fans that are older than 50, 60, 70, 80, etc. They also come from different cultural backgrounds and different music taste.

What kind of music you’re into and who are you favorites or favorite songs? We can recommend what we think you’ll appreciate. BTS originally rooted in hip-hop, but they are through and through music lovers/nerds which is evident in their music catalogue. The Truth Untold does have more meaning than even what you read there in this rough translation actually. I won’t get into it much, but the fact the person in the story feels the need to wear a “mask”to see this woman he quietly was is in love with because he sees himself ugly and wouldn’t want her to see him. Before getting the courage to reveal his true self, she’s gone. If he accepted/loved himself, he would’ve been able to meet her as his true self, and the chance that maybe she could like/love him too. Yeah, sad story. Oh, and it’s a b-side. BTS’ b-sides are just as good as their title tracks or singles.

Would be awesome - if your daughter would be willing - to hear her playing of the song. Even just hear, if she would not want to she doesn't need to be on camera.. It is such a beautiful song. :) 💜 The song always makes me cry BTS's vocal-line's (4 members of the 7) voices carry so much emotion. 💜 Really nice to see someone coming into BTS through b-side track(s). I myself became a BTS fan through a b-side track, Butterfly. 💜 What made me ARMY was the ARMY itself. Fandom that does - well you know after watching Xceleste's guide - what ARMY does.. I knew this was my family, and we (BTS and ARMY together) have created this home, and I'm not leaving. Personally I separate fans and fandom (personally to me a fan is person who really likes the music, but does not participate in the fandom activities) but everybody is free to call themselves what ever they want.

They have a huge fandom of every age, I am 71, fans are called ARMY. The colour coded lyrics you had showed who was singing. As you can see that was a grown up song, not aimed at the teen market. The do sing in many genres including pop, hip hop, ballads, EDM and more. This song was just the vocal line performing, there are also 3 rappers. They have also done a few all English songs for the US market, which tend to be more poppy. If you ard interested to get a better idea of them you might watch their Festa Room Live 2021 which is a medley of songs in different styles. Just one song really doesn't do justice to a group who have in the region of 400 songs. I thought your reaction was very respectful and hope to be able to hear your opinion on some others. Hello to you in the Netherlands! This song was so deep and emotional, I love it. Thank you for the recommendation. I'm going to check this out very soon. I just recently found Nightwish as well. I'm going down both rabbit holes at the same time.

Hi Nate this is the backstory that BigHit/BTS created for this song. It's about the love and longing the man had for a woman he never had the courage to approach before it was too late. The story behind The Truth Untold is called ‘La Città di Smeraldo’ {the emerald city}, which takes place in a small town in Italy in the 16th century. This heartbreaking story is about an ‘ugly’ man who has locked himself into an ancient castle to hide himself from the world because he had received a lot of cruelty while growing up. Therefore, he tried to hide from people. The only thing that he confided in and loved was to plant flowers in his garden that surrounded the castle. One day, a woman had trespassed into the garden and stolen a flower. The man was angry so he watched the garden from the castle all night. Unfortunately, when he slept the woman came again and stole another flower. Then after this happening for a few days, the man decided to fake his sleep and and watch the woman steal the flower. Without him knowing, he became more interested in the woman and began waiting for her to steal a flower every night. This was until he followed her one day to the small town and found out that she was selling the flowers from his garden to earn her living. He wanted to help the woman so much but was afraid that she wouldn’t like him because of his ‘ugly’ appearance. So he thought the only way he could help was to keep growing the flowers in his garden for her to steal and sell on. He decided that he wanted to create a flower that didn’t exist on the planet so that the woman could sell it for an expensive price. The Smeraldo flower. The man tried many times to make the flower and after many tries, he finally created the Smeraldo flower and filled his garden with it. But the woman stopped coming. He waited and waited but he found out she had died.

Just subscribed because you’re authentic and that’s a rarity these days especially when it involves YT reactors. I couldn’t help but imagine your daughter playing this, she must’ve been feeling the emotions. Just the music alone has a meaningful vibe. Hope you take the journey down the bts rabbit hole!

I absolutely love the way you discovered this song and BTS in general 💜 I'm not going to give any suggestions other than my personal favorite which is Magic Shop. I'm sure people have bombarded you over the past few weeks and it can be overwhelming, to say the least. I know you've been told this already but I'm 32 and the BTS fan base is wide and varied. I never would have thought that I would have fallen for them but I did.

not sure what you mean by younger crowd. do you mean 20s - 30s do you mean teens and kids? majority of bts fans are 20s and older. as the members themselves are 26 - 30 so naturally the age of their fans are the same age groups or older. there are a few kid friendly songs and if you dont understand korean then most of their music is kid friendly but if you actually read the lyrics or understand the language then bts are not kid friendly all the time. they have music in ALL genres and for ALL topics most of their songs are deeper than most pop music. the members write and produce the music themselves majority of the time. whatever the media says about them being for the younger age groups is a narrative made by people who dont do research. please react to them more and pay attention to the lyrics :)
