I read recently that the background vocals are Timothy B. Schmit and J.D. Souther. On the last "and I love her" none other than Freddie Mercury joins in. I've loved this song and Andrew Gold since the 6th grade. Now I know more of why.

Great song! Was literally just wondering when someone would react to this!! Did you know Freddie Mercury has a featured vocal here in 2nd verse! And thank you for your message Psyche, honestly one of the hardest periods and miss him dearly but new chapters indeed :)

Urban legend (in many places on the Net) is that Freddie Mercury did background vocals on this song. Fact: It was JD Souther - who is probably the beautiful vocals that are being mistaken for Freddie) and Brock Walsh is in there too.

Hello Alan thanks so much for your appreciation. 'Young lady'? 😁 - I'm one (very rare) of the mature ones and proud of it. It seems anyone over 30/40 is deemed old and I'm older than that. I'm here to prove them wrong. More mature people should be backing us as we have a loud voice but don't use it. A truly feel good song from a fantastic artiste, really confortable rhythm to sing along with and great harmonisation. Loving your reactions, there are very few of this track to watch and yours is the best so far.

Been doing some research on this great song and man who produced the record says that freddie mercury did not sing bv's on it. As for the intsrumentation on the track ,to my ears the only live things are the vocals and the saxophone. The rest is electric piano,synthesisers and a drum machine and even those hand claps aren't real ....
