Perhaps you ought to go back and reread my comment, as it appears you've accidentally responded to my comment when you intended to respond to someone else's. I'm not yet even 50 years old and Merle has always been on the top of my list (Miles above the number 2 guy on the chart below him) of singers, songwriters, singer/songwriters of ANY genera, EVER in the history of music. since I first heard him decades ago. I've also been a fan of his sons for decades, and especially Ben (who is by far the best of his sons), since he first went public. If you did intend for your comment to be for me, I have absolutely no idea what the point of it was, and as to how it was in any way relative to anything I've ever stated. Forgive me if I've misinterpreted your comment.
Chris, it seems, does all his most powerful, soulful, emotionally heartwrenching songs live and alone with his guitar. 'Either way' 'What are you listening to' 'Sometimes I cry' 'Barely alive' and 'Cold' are perfect examples of musical perfection. The voice beautifully telling the story while his guitar playing skilfully provides the perfect accompaniment. Wow!
He just reaches into to your chest and rips out your heart. His voice is once in a lifetime good. I don’t know if you’ve seen “Sometimes I Cry” at the Bing Lounge or “I Was Wrong” at Austin City Limits, but if not, you must.

I absolutely love this man! I love all the reactions from so many different music lovers! I see Chris as more as a soul, R&B, just Chris Stapleton. He is in his own genre. You have to listen to I Was Wrong and Cold. Thank you.
I had listened to him nonstop on a roadtrip to Colorado last year. There and back. Perfect music for that. He can transport you to a place in your mind where you absorb what he's singing into your skin. He's got a gift for making you feel his voice.

It's hard not to tear up listening to Chris and when he sings with his angel voice wife Morgane. I love this song! We've all felt that way at one point in a doomed relationship. What talent! 💞. Thank you for playing. True, rare and soulful.
A lot of musicians use instruments to mask weaknesses in their voices. Chris could have his arms amputated and never have another guitar around him, and his voice would remain magical.
Great songs turn on a single moment. Chris has that voice. The lyrics set up the best line......".......I won't love you either way." The first time I heard it, it punched me right in the gut. I was living the very situation he was describing.
I just wrote on another reaction page that Chris sings like the man I want to be. And his voice is like an orchestra. It can hit you high or low and with all the range of emotion anyone can feel. He is spectacular.
