Every time I see this episode, I'm always thinking the same thing. The chemistry between matt smith and alex kingston is just freaking amazing ! (god damn, I love their marriage, the intensity of their looks, and the sweetness of their kiss. We can see in the acting of Matt that the Doctor is obviously in love with River at this point of his life.) And ... The 11th Doctor always wear his marriage symbol around his neck even when he didn't know yet he was married. The iconical accessory of THIS Doctor is his proof of marriage whith his beloved wife, River Song. I love Moffat. I really, really Love Moffat.

The 'look in my eyes' scene gets me every time, with the musical score and the Doctor's joy! Even watching a reaction video makes me excited! The Live Chess Player (can't remember the actual character's name) was played by Mark Gatiss. Side-effects of Trenzalore include: Attack eyebrows, change in kidney color, and a sense of wibbly-wobbly timey-wimeyness. Do not operate heavy machinery (like time machines) while taking Trenzalore. Consult your Doctor. Thanks for doing these! Enjoy your break! See you in Season 7!

The Brigadier was a huge a part of classic Who. He was a quasi companion without actually doing all the traveling. If you want an easily digestible classic Who story that gives you an understanding of the Brigadier and his relationship with the Doctor you should watch The Three Doctors, which was the first anniversary special the show did for the 10th anniversary. It also makes a part of the 50th anniversary cooler when you understand the context of why something has the name it does.

There were many memorable parts in this episode, but I really loved the reveal of The Question... the hint of it being the first question, the oldest question in the universe, hidden in plain sight it was so meta. For some reason I thought Nicholas Courtney began with Patrick Troughton (the second Doctor). But a look at his IMDB page showed that he played a couple of other characters aside from Colonel/Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart, beginning with "Bret Vyon", an agent on the planet Kembel (a Dalek story, no less). I always liked the Brigadier. He had the characteristics of a stereotype of a British officer, without actually being cartoonish; and was, in fact, an admirable character. Which is probably why he was an ongoing character for so long -- Courtney played him so well.

The Wedding of River Song is a very *very* messy conclusion to series 6. It tries to cram a ridiculous amount of plot points into a 45 minute episode and provide a satisfactory conclusion to the highly convoluted story arc, while also setting up mysteries and questions for series 7 to tackle. It really needed a second part in order to properly flesh out the story and provide a satisfying ending to the overarching story, and also explore River's motivations for her actions in this episode, because in the finished product, they feel rather underbaked, and it makes her feel strangely petulant and immature. But in spite of how messy it is, and how much potential gets wasted, I still rather enjoy this one. The sheer quantity of mad visuals and ideas that are thrown into the first half of the story are absolutely delightful, and really makes me wish that this whole thing had taken up an episode in its own right. Matt Smith is excellent as always, especially in that little scene where he learns about the Brigadier's death (a very touching moment that lands with a lot more weight once you've seen Nicholas Courtney's appearances in Classic Who), and there are loads of great moments scattered throughout. I don't think it's a great finale - it certainly doesn't hold a candle to The Pandorica Opens and The Big Bang - but it's still quite a bit of fun, even if it is a bit rushed

You know, I kind of wondering how the legal system works in the future. River was already in prison when the silence decided to kidnap her and use her to commit the crime she was imprisoned for. are there some kind of legal causality laws that forbid cops from interfering in crimes that haven't been planned yet? And how exactly did they decide 'when' to arrest her? it would be wrong for them to arrest her before she actually did it, but since the crime happened 3000 years ago, they would have to somehow guess when in her personal timeline she was already guilty. So many questions...

@@imafgc What are you going on about? I was correcting your point 2. Phoebe said the Doctor "actually had to be there, not just something that looked like him". You attempted to correct her by saying that his ploy was to use a robot "to look exactly like him". That's not right. He used the "robot" as a way actually to be there. I said nothing about gangers.

6x13 would have been the ideal exit for Amy and Rory. What Moffett did to them in season 7 was cruel and unforgivable. He was just as cruel to Clara with her exit. They all deserved better.

This might be a long comment, so sorry about that in advance. I have a lot to get off my chest in regards to series 6. I’d like to stress to anyone who might get offended that this is only MY OPINION, don’t treat it as anything else. Firstly, I'll start off with why I think series 6 as a whole doesn't work. The Doctor using the teselecta is a cheap get out of jail card, which doesn't even make sense because the Doctor started to regenerate in "The Impossible Astronaut". The teselecta is a machine operated by humans. It shouldn't have been able to replicate a regeneration. It would've made slightly more sense if it was a flesh duplicate of the Doctor, but that thread was completely dropped and never mentioned again after AGMGTW. Also, the whole premise of the series is kind of ridiculous. They teased us with the possibility of the Doctor dying, but we all knew it was a bluff. As a result, the level of dramatic tension and suspense wasn't as much they probably hoped. We were simply waiting to see the answers to all of our many, many questions and find out how the Doctor got out of it in the end. Of course we knew he would. It would've helped if the answers were at all satisfactory. The series collapsed under its own weight. It was simply too "grand" and "epic" for its own good. I hate that River was willing to put all of reality in danger and wasn't willing to let the Doctor die for the sake of the universe just because she loves him too much. She comes across as a desperate, deranged and clingy girlfriend. Why was it necessary for the Doctor and River to get married? It felt so OTT and dramatic for absolutely no reason. I guess the Doctor did it to appease River Song, which is really weird.... We're supposed to be touched and feel emotional because of all of that, when it's just a token gesture by the Doctor? To make matters worse, all of the emotional build up and drama throughout the episode and the whole series felt so cheap, unnecessary and manipulative, when the teselecta twist was revealed. Throughout the series we were told that it was DEFINITELY the Doctor who was shot at the beach. Not a robot, not a duplicate. Then out of nowhere, at the eleventh hour (see what I did there) it's revealed that it was a robot all along! That's not a good twist after a whole series' worth of build-up, anticlimactic is what it was. It’s made even worse considering the Doctor figured out a plan like 10 minutes into the episode. Why didn’t he just tell River his plan then? Why did he waste so much time and put us through all of that melodrama? Even if we are to believe the Doctor rewrote time, how is that possible? I thought it was a fixed point? It can’t be rewritten, not to that extent. I mean, surely time would sense It’s not really the Doctor getting shot, but just a robot? There are some people who say that it was the teselecta all along, but even if we are to (hypothetically) accept that, doesn't that undermine and make irrelevant all the emotional journeys of all our main characters? Also, it was never even explained how the Silence were able to control and blow up the Tardis in the previous series' finale and why they were willing to put all of reality in danger just to stop the Doctor from getting to Trenzalore? They were trying to save reality by destroying all of reality? Makes sense. Another thing that doesn't make sense. If everything in this episode happened in an "aborted timeline" li; how did that solve anything? Surely Madame Kovarian and the Silence should still be out there in our universe? The emotional impact of Amy and Rory losing their daughter is completely glossed over. Mel being revealed to be River and growing up alongside Amy and Rory all along is a ridiculous attempt at softening the blow of them losing Melody. Amy and Rory's lives have been completely messed up; their daughter turns out to be this older woman they've been running around with for a while and their trouble making childhood friend, AT THE SAME TIME! The trouble is these twists seem to happen just for the sake of it. There's never any significant weight or gravity put into these situations because the emotional turmoil that must have surely taken place for Amy and Rory is never explored. As a result of that, the emotional impact and consequences of the story are diluted because the people involved don't really feel like real people. They just feel like plot devices needed to connect all the dots. They're pawns on Moffat's chess board that need to be moved around in order to advance the bigger story. There's an emotional distance and coldness to this series and that's a big problem.

A few things: This River was before she became the River we know. At this point, she’s still pretty much the Melody Pond from Let’s Kill Hitler. The regeneration could be replicated with a simple light show, I’m sure a machine that advanced would be capable of it. The rest of your points are valid.
