I love this distinction. Many people who watch hockey don't know about it (or understand it). They don't understand that a lot of the spectacular saves you see, the goalie was actually out of position and that's why he needed to make such a save. The best goalies are the ones that block nearly 100% of the pucks with positional saves and not reaction saves. I'm a smaller goalie and in my beer league I'm forced to make a lot of reactionary saves due to my lack of coverage. I sometimes get standing ovations and stick banging when I make crazy saves (which is always fun) but I know in my mind that a larger goalie would have just blocked it calmly.
I have watched every one of your videos. I'm an over the hill goalie playing drop in hockey....you've helped me understand this tough position so much better ty.
Great job coach. It's been over 2 weeks now since we left the ice... I really enjoy every video you post, looking forward for the upcoming video with Trav. Cause it means that it will be videos from you and him.
Thanks for doing these. I have enjoyed them, learned from them and shared what I could with my little goalies. It has been really helpful for them since they have been off the ice.
Gary Goldstein you are welcome Gary... still a ton coming... just one a week for now as things are starting to look like we will be back in the ice for privates / small group stuff at least....
@@FutureProGoaltending Best of luck with a safe return for everyone. Shouldn't be a problem for you with all of the good karma you have generated with these.
Whew!! Glad to hear it’s not over! Keep the great vids coming! Kinda figured the quantity of vids wld go down.. Never on the quality! 👍😎 Here’s an idea for another one.. maybe some insight from other Pro Goalies (uh-um... Eddie Belfour 😜) or current guys.. Also, if Keeks was my neighbor, I have a feeling we wld get along Famously!!
Goalie Reaper your beer fridge would be empty.... thanks for watching.... once hockey gets back running we will have interviews with lots of different goalies so you don’t have to keep looking at the goat...
Oh Don’t get it twisted! It wld be an honor to empty the beer fridge with you. bring the knowledge of the GOAT, I’ll bring the brew! (Especially here in Milwaukee) A Vid from FPG.. I’m WATCHING! Can’t wait to see what’s next!
Lou's interview on Tim & Sid, last week, was great. They only got 2 or 3 questions in. He just talked and talked, like he was afraid they were going to ask him what's in his freezer labelled "Robidas Island".
I heard a story with Lou, when he was trying to sell private boxes at the new prudential center. He invited high dollar people in for a luncheon, sandwiches etc... (remember.... these are 6 figure box leases)....and he made them pay for the soda......😎
Wow, so many scintillating saves! Uh oh, we now have Lou Lamorello here on Long Island. He's not going to pay for beer for the visiting coaches, like he did when he was with the Devils? I better send him a message to do so!
Awwww .. down to one keek's corner a week now.. between you, trav, no ice and at least weeks until NHL I'm gonna start going through hockey withdrawal.. 🤣🤣
Hi Steve, thank you for taking time to make these videos they are pure gold... Did you see the bomb Ovechkin unleashed the other night? He was coming down left side and sent a rocket past Varlamov's glove into the net.. pro or not.. how does anyone have a chance snagging something like that?
Another great video. I personally would like to hear more on situational glove and blocker positioning. That's something Rask always seems to do well. Do you have a video on that already?
@@FutureProGoaltending "Really liked this cheapskate stuff. Feeling like I'm having a beer with you and sharing some interesting facts" You should send him an invoice!
Good Morning Coach. Another great video. Possibly your finest? Hockey shops started opening up here on the West Coast of The United States. I'm looking forward to getting down there and getting fitted for some new Bauers. The local rink is estimating reopening around the middle of the month. I've been doing a lot of kayaking as of late to help get the core in shape. I will try to take your advice of easing back into the game, but more than likely I will be like a bat out of hell. I am only a few years younger than you, but I still need to exercise some caution. I have learned a lot these last couple months and am excited to apply them to my game. I'm sure I will be learning a lot more from your future videos, and I will be patiently waiting for them. Thanks again for all of your help and what you do. You are a real asset to the hockey community.
anthony peak thanks for the kind words Anthony. I love learning and spreading knowledge.... I am soaking up as much as I can about storytelling and video making.... lots to learn..
Ryan A yes and the most famous one when he stood up showboating a big glove save and he didn’t have the puck in there anymore... easy game winning goal.. lol
Julie Aastorp not currently on a team payroll but I frequently chat with my connections that are asking about goalies I know.. once a scout always a scout.😎
@@FutureProGoaltending Do you know if scouts ever look at prospects in Norway? Not thinking of goalies but any type of player. Is the league not good enough to consider a prospect?
Julie Aastorp scouts look EVERYWHERE. But note, only those that are clearly dominating their current level. Unless you are some physical freak of nature, you must subjectively and objectively dominate your current level. Athletes that get “overlooked” never truly ripped up their current teams.
@@FutureProGoaltending I understand, but in Norway there are no support for young athletes and the drop off rate is about 60% each year. No ice time, no coaches that's in desperate need. No opportunity school collide with games and exams and so on. There is a reason I am asking
