Actually I'm the same kind of guy that like story part. I hate sitcoms and that kind of shit. But Gintama is something different, it's one kind of an anime. It gives you that kind of feeling that other anime can't. You can cry from laugh and from sadness in 5 minutes. I can't recommend you to watch this though. Start is kind of so so. And you will start to see what's the concept really late. But I'm sure that if you'll finish it it will be your Top 5 (most likely top 3). Anyway you can react to some fights :D P.S.: new season is going right now. More epicness to come. More fights to react.
Relax man,If u talking about comedy, it WILL gets way better as you continue the episode, U can watch just 1 episode everyday, no need to rush, And this anime will get better in terms of comedy, action & drama. In the end, u'll suddenly finish watching the anime without realizing it coz that was happening to me. It is that good.
the story and plot is better than your no 1 list I can tell you that..and the joke just dont make you laugh..it connect with real life and deliver some decent moral which sometimes make you think..like you can never be as stupid,funny,badass,cool and somewhat have a good grasp of moral and have a very good princip about life..and the show has no 4th wall to break so its just like watching your friends going through hard time cause he cant eat some sweet things and missed the new edition jump comic and somebody just die and his friends are in relationship with a widow cause the widow shared some sad backstory to his friend..its messed up but in the most sensible way..and his friend spirits suddenly get fired up just by thingking about mi**ey and fri*nd..
Most of Gintama has 2-3 episode arcs and the most awsome arcs start around 50 but dont sleep on the ones before them there real good, and most arcs are written great and they all build on characters and the world. if the average anime arc is 5 most arcs are 5-7 and the big arcs everyone talks about go 8-10 once you get into it youll be happy its so long :D
@BearDid Anime The comedy becomes actually also much better(everything becomes better after the introduction) and more diverse, and there is also action and especially drama in the episodes between the arcs. The series simply gets better and better(basicly the opposite of Sword Art Online :), and Gintama 2015 as a whole is absolutely amazing.
Follow the arcs that connect to the main plot of the series, that's how I did it before. You can go through other episodes and smaller arcs at a later time when you want to (I highly recommend watching the first two seasons during those occasions, as these address characters who play pivotal roles in the arcs), but if you want to dive into the story you can. I actually have a list of them if you want; unless you've already gotten into the series that is. ^ w ^
