Through the Never a banger and one of my favorites on this album. Next song, a bit of a contrast 😂. Sarah, I figured you'd be dumbfounded by the song Nothing Else Matters. Fun to see your reaction. Nothing Else Matters was a song that Hetfield was apprehensive about bringing it to the rest of the band. Hetfield explained this song to Mojo magazine December 2008. Said the Metallica singer: "It's about being on the road, missing someone at home, but it was written in such a way, it connected with so many people, that it wasn't just about two people, it was about a connection with your higher power, lots of different things." Elton John gave it praise and said it was one of the best songs ever written.
No worries here and you do not need to apologize either. I completely understand, I sure do. Most important thing is your family, you and your health. That comes before anything right there. Just hoping everyone is doing good and is better now.
13:31 Metallica Was On Howard Stern Recently…Elton John Called In & Said.. ‘Nothing Else Matters’ Is One Of The BEST SONGS Ever Written!! James Was Like.. “Ahhh…Wow!! That Was Really Cool!!” After Elton Hung Up
This reaction of Nothing Else Matters was absolutely memorably!!! No more words to say about this. I don't know if you saw this, but in last year, in 2021, Elton John was live with Metallica on a radio show, and he said, looking into James Hetfield's eyes, that Nothing Else Matters was one of the best songs he ever heard. James just cried live listening to him say that. It was a absolutely beautiful moment!
Hang in there beautiful young lady! Pain (bleeping) SUCKS!! I know exactly what you’re talking about. I’ve had to be on Oxy 10/325 for, literally, decades now. 7lbs of surgical steel, artificial knee, fused ankle, the resulting osteoarthritis, one leg now 1-2cm shorter now, back pain etc etc becomes the new normal, but NEVER becomes the new appreciated. Push through BUT listen to your body. You only get so many spoons per day. Spend them on what’s truly important. Be good😎🤙
Metallica is not the only metal band with a true ballad. Don't know if you know Queensryche's Silent Lucidity. I think you'd also like, Iron Maiden's Strange World, and Death Angel's A Room With a View
Oh, and all guitars played on this song were written and performed by James Hetfield. Kirk isn’t on the studio track at all. He assists James on stage during some parts of the song during live performances.
I don't have much to say regarding your reaction apart from it was great as always, but I did want to say not to worry about posting if you're not feeling up to it. Your health and your family's health are far more important than RU-vid. I hope you're feeling better soon. BTW Elton John has said that Nothing Else Matters is one of the greatest songs ever written, and there's a great version of the song from the Howard Stern Show featuring Metallica on instruments and Miley Cyrus on vocals. If you like the song (which you obviously do), I urge you to check it out whenever you're feeling up to it. I also want to second another comment on here that says you should continue the Metallica reactions with Load and Reload. I honestly think you'd prefer a lot of the songs on those albums to the stuff you've already reacted to since they branch out into far more styles like they did with Nothing Else Matters.
was nice to see how the song moved you. i hated it back when it came out. maybe thats a strong word. I was a huge fanboy of 80s speed metal metallica, & this song was the kiss of death for that version of the band. so i was sullen.
I don't know if you've noticed it yourself, but in almost every song on The Black Album, you've been praising James's voice a lot. I really agree with you about that. I will say it again... in my opinion, this is the Metallica album with James's best vocals ever! He was at his peak as a singer on this album.
