Can we just take a moment to appreciate what a great guy and bandmate Empuu seems to be? Whenever you watch their live shows he seems like he's in a way the guy who takes care of the whole band. Always there to smile, reassure, have a quick chat where possible, lifting everyone's spirits. He just seems like a great person to have around you! :)
Oh wow, didn't know that. Maybe I should start a band and get him on board haha Just hope for all of us that it's not one of those evil twin kinda deals.... On the other hand, IF it is it'd just be a Black Metal band... we'd be short-lived but legendary :P
THIS!! Yes, Emppu is wonderful! Ghost love score Wacken 2013 when he goes and touches Marco and Tuomas, I everytime have tears to my eyes... I love that man.
So many reaction channels that do Nightwish never really get to the songs where Troy is featured. He is clearly Tuomas's musical soul-mate and has become an elemental part of the Nightwish sound. Even between Nightwish stuff they do other projects together, like the Scrooge McDuck thing, and the 'Auri' project with Tuomas's wife.
agree on the point of tuomas's musical soulmate. Troy has a really big and great influence on the band...now they are better than ever before. I always feel Troy not gets the recognition and love he deserves.
Troy is a bit of "Jack of all trades", I mean he sings, plays several instruments, and Tuomas uses his abilities a bit here and there, and is often overlooked, with so many "power houses" in the band, but Troy brings something unique to Nightwish and that is something I really love.
Because I can see how much you love the more artistic and lyrical side of Nightwish I think you would really appreciate a song that Tuomas composed outside of the band. It is rarely requested as a reaction because it is so very different from Nightwish's music. Despite this many including myself believe this song is one of Tuomas's masterpieces. The song is called "a lifetime of adventure" and it is based upon the the Disney comic strips which gave life to the Disney duck universe: the life and times of Scrooge... Apparently this comic had a profound influence on Tuomas in his youth and he decided in the 90's that he would one day compose a soundtrack for this strip. In 2014 Tuomas released an entire solo album dedicated to the story of Scrooge Mcduck. a lifetime of adventure is the only song on the album that is composed to be a single. It is quite beautiful and you can feel the love Tuomas feels for this composition and the story that inspired it. The album is not metal but it is a fantastic piece of work. The vocalist in this song is now Tuomas's wife and she has the voice of an angel... So if you have the time you should react to this: m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JWwSVOo5K_k.html A quote: "I gotta say Tuomas is right. It is beyond fantastic. This is different from every single other Disney comic. In fact, forget what you thought you knew about Disney comics, about comics in general. This isn't just ' a comic' for kids and nerds. Don Rosa created something special there. You gotta realize that he has drawn the entire life of Uncle Scrooge, mixing places and persons of our real world with the Disney fiction on such a high level it is unimaginable. If you ever wondered, why the Beagle Boys became Scrooge's arch enemies, how Ducktown came to be, who his parents and siblings were, what his childhood and youth was like, when and where he earned his first million, and the things he did, discovered and experienced, the countless people he met and places he saw long before Donald Duck was even born, it is all in there. It's no comic, it's a chronicle. And a terribly sad one, a tale of countless hardships and especially losses. And Tuomas music catches that perfectly. After you read this, Mickey Mouse will appear boring and pale to you compared to Scrooge. It will change your point of view on practically everything you thought you knew about the character who is so much more than just a very rich duck." MioRaem.
Enjoyed the poem, this song & your reaction as always. Since Troy, the British multi-instrumentalist, and Floor, the Dutch vocal goddess, were made official members of the band in 2013, Tuomas has had much more latitude in composing new songs & the band is more versatile than ever. Can't wait for their next studio album scheduled to be released in the Spring of 2020. P.S. Just a friendly reminder so that you won't forget these two beautiful ballads: "Our Decades in the Sun" & "Turn Loose the Mermaids", although you will not find any live performances for them, just lyrics videos.
Tarmo Tyyri - 100% friend....can’t wait for their new album and to see the evolution of Floor and Troy in the recording studio from EFMB . Enjoy your day 👍
The first part that Troy sings is Welsh and translate as follows: Sound of the mist smell of the mossy forest under trees and moon I weave my wings to life's tapestry Walden or Life in the Woods is an autobiography of the transcendental writer Henry David Thoreau. The work is considered simultaneously as a declaration of personal independence, a social experience, a journey of spiritual discovery and a manual for self-sufficiency. Published in 1854, Walden is a poetic manifesto against industrial civilization, which then gained strength in the United States. Thoreau, dissatisfied with the way of life in society and seeking to eliminate the waste and the illusion of it, proposes a return to the simple, given the growing complexity of American social life, derived from the exponential growth of industrialization and urbanization. Please choose as one of your next Nightwish songs, Alpenglow from Wembley 2015.
In my opinion, this song is like "I want my tears back", it's a party. It's so enjoyable and it makes you smile, for some reason. My favorite part is when Floor says: " c'mon Troy, bring me some pipes ", ( or something like that ). Is it me or Floor sometimes seems like such a sweet person ? I feel it that way and that is contagious to the audience, no dubt. Thanks for the reaction Kelly.
As usual Kelly I really enjoyed your reaction and how happy and uplifting this song is...great emotions 👍 it’s why we adore Nightwish.. If think you’d love “Alpenglow” from Tampere ...a beautiful song..but then again every song from Tampere is amazing,, To all my Nightwish brothers and sisters...Have a wonderful day , be safe...Life is good. 🇬🇧
I love the three part vocal harmonies on this song. Each of their voices have such a different tone to them, yet somehow they blend together into something that’s just pure magic. Couple that with Tuomas’ poetry and you get something truly special. What I find fascinating about Tuomas, and I think this actually has to do with him writing lyrics outside of his native tongue, is there’s just as much focus on the SOUND of the words as what they actually say. The words become part of the music itself.
Thought you might enjoy this one (well, they're all awesome), just a magical song and performance - and i saw you noticed the little details, like Empu and Troy interacting. Another great reaction Kelly, and a beautiful poem as a wonderful bonus 🤘
Yes, that interaction was lovely. Thanks, glad you liked my poem too. I thought, well, it's near bedtime, let's unwind, and Wrapped Around the Moon is a perfect poem for sleep time. : )
Kelly, you and Tuomas share the same poets heart! Most people reacting to Nightwish do not understand the depth of the lyrics in the songs. You get it! So emotional. It adds a dimension that most music lacks.
I'm glad you did this one. When I first heard this and Alpenglow, it made me wish I would have used my own flute in the song I'm putting together....still kinda glad I didn't, cause I haven't played seriously in years plus my producer's flight was leaving that night, so there wasn't really time, but that's so cool that they know how to arrange that, and I'll know it for my next one, if I get a next one. Thumbs up for both reaction and poem. Very pretty. :)
Floor could sing the phonebook, I would pay to watch! Great reaction @Kelly Deacon and I can tell how much you get into each song! Now get back to relaxing and have a great week! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🦊🤘🏻🤘🏻
Hey there, yeah, end of night, it was getting close to retiring for night, as far as relaxing? not until the work weeks done LOL!!! Looking forward to being here on the weekends, as I said whether it's experiencing a song I've not heard before, a bit of poetry, and a ukulele or all. Ton's of material to go thru.... so thanks for being here!
You really need to watch poet and the pendulum. Make sure you have tissues ready. It is epic and historical to the bands history. As I said before...do research on the bands wiki page about it first. You will have a greater understanding of the meaning of the song.
It's so good that you're doing these reactions because many tend to stick to the harder material so these slower more beautiful songs are wildly underrepresented. Apply a small dosage before bed for peaceful sleep.
Have to admit that You Kelly You are a real Person it so nice to watch Your impression .No plah plah when the music in on but afterwards its ok.Just joining Your followers. Oh by the way Greeting from Finland .
Hello Bridget, That song is in my top 5..... thank you for suggesting My Walden too..... I'm always in awe of these lyrics and musical compositions.... amazing.
come on troy bring us some vibes and he did tell me 1 other goddess who can say that to someone who has not got a guitar or drums in their hand and kill it this band never cease to amaze me .
Another great reaction Kelly. I'd love to see you react to some of the songs Tarja sung with the band. I think you would enjoy anything from the End Of An Era DVD. It was the last show she ever done with Nightwish. Looking forward to more reactions from you. ❤️
I was in the darkest alley There was no one to call my own My walden was a lonesome journey I had no one to call my own.... And the there came a girl called Kelly My heart became human after turning to stone She gave me all her soul and beauty (And though I think she is a cuty...) She made me feel so less alone... PS I am Dutch, so English is my second language, so don't mind the mistakes.... Robert....
Alpenglow, Poet and the Pendulum, and Weak Fantasy (All from live at Wakken 2013 or live at Tampere works)are all really good ones to do next. Alpenglow has a similar feel to this song, Poet and the pendulum requires some reading on Wikipedia to understand the song before you go into it, and Weak Fantasy is just a good 'Rockin' out' tune w here you'll see a side of Floor you haven't seen yet. Another great song, another great reaction. Stay metal \m/
Thanks for the shoutout. I kind of had a hunch you might like this.😊 Before you get to Alpenglow, can I request Yours Is An Empty Hope, live from the Nightwish Cruise for a change of pace?
@@Immortall1408 Yes, I thought about writing 'chili' for a minute. So pepper would also fit. But she's been reacting to a lot of Floor the Disney Princess (okay, also Floor the Warrior Princess recently), so I think her picture is not complete without Floor the Dragon.
Well done as usual- Would you please check out Poets of the Fall( Finnish band too)- Maybe try their song=Carnival of Rust- You can do it live or the video.. Both are excellent. The band has tons of awesome stuff like Nightwish.
Hi, very nice reaction again, loved it and your poem. Here in comments Banderezz Tony LaPore suggested side project of Tuomas. Disney comics, story about Uncle Scrooge. You could really consider that. Tuomas made one album, which is like soundtrack for Uncle Scrooge life how Don Rosa made it for Disney. It is not Nightwish music, there is nobody else from Nightwish. But orchestra is same what you hear behind these NW songs.
I love the poetry on your channel either before or after a reaction or even standing alone. I feel I am a little more cultured for listening to this as I always love your passion and your optimistic vision that they always seem to share. A very positive encouragement to go out and look differently at what at least I perceive as the same old world. This is another Troy special (starts off with the ancient Welsh tongue) and he adds that subtle but sustained vocals to the usual dynamic Floor and Marco duet presentation. Troy the exception as the player of many instruments and the master of them all, his Folk Metal instrumentation is another great aspect that only adds to the Nightwish sound and experience. Of course Troy goes back to the Celtic bagpipes at Floor's command and how that song ends!! Great reaction as I could tell this is going to be one of your favorite NW songs. I still say the Edema Ruh LIVE acoustic version (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-g3fjBAhOXIM.html) you will love and Troy , Marco and Floor do a great job in front of a small crowd on the cruise ship singing about the sirens of old something I think you can really identify with.
I thought the language was old world Welsh, I was right then? Keep the comments coming, I appreciate your sharing of info, ideas, and song recommendations, and your friendship too : ) . Sirens of old...… wow wow wow.... I swear I love it all. I've never in my life felt a connection poetically speaking to a music group, and the people. Each bring their special heart to each one of their creations.
Ah Yes, the last of the "trilogy" that I have not heard yet !!!! I have a strategy for this song.... firstly, get to know a few NW songs, get to know the group, find out more about the backstory of why this song was written, take in some of Tarja's songs, and then I will be ready to take on the Poet&Pendulum…. be sure to stay tuned : )
Hi Kelly. Nice reactions. I've watched many of them several times. You really like Nightwish because the band's music creates emotions. I think you might like another Finnish band called - Poets of the Fall, and their song Carnival of Rust .... Here is link - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MKk1u5RMTn4.html The official video for this song is really great too. It was awarded as the best music video of the year in Finland.
You need to check out their older material. A good starting point would be the 'End Of An Era' show ( 2005 ) with their original singer Tarja. Great stuff!!!
James, that's a plan. Last evening I wrote down a few songs recommended by the NW family, this time focusing on Tarja. End of an Era is on the list. I will be checking it out. Keep the recommendations coming, as it helps guide the journey.
Admit I didn't read all the comments, and this reaction was posted long ago...sorry if this has been asked and answered.... When Troy begins in Welsh, is someone harmonizing w him, or is it mic reverb? Also, thanks for the poem, sis...everything is better w poetry and song!
You could make a theme for next Sunday. Sorrowful Sunday! Two masterpieces! "Nightwish - The poet & The pendulum" (The suicide song of Tuomas) & "Wintersun - Loneliness (Winter)" (i heard Jari wrote it after his father passed away)
Neat idea Ville. I have another plan for the Poet & Pendulum. ; ) I hope to dig into Tarja's songs a bit before but we'll see what happens. I need to be ready, have my backstory researched, and you know I will experience it will class, and with my heart on my poetic sleeve. Stay tuned!!!! : )
Sounds good. Nightwish has grown so much from Tarja ERA.. but tarja is great singer 😊 but floor is another level amazing!. And anette you can just skip.. 😆 there is few song i like better with Tarja than floor. 1.sleeping sun 2.NEMO 3.wishmaster are the main ones "better" with Tarja 👌 and of course Phantom of the opera 🤘
Thanks for the info on Tarja. That is very helpful as I dig into Tarja's songs before Poet & Pendulum. Also, I'm very interested in Annette. I would like a recommendation you have for a song with Annette. Thanks.
@@KellyDeaconKDzJOY hmmm. Maybe bye bye beatiful, and Amaranth with anette. She is ok in studio versions. Hard times in live versions 😊 maybe you can compare floors "poet and the pendulum" to original anette's version 😉
This is one I think you'd enjoy. It's a song from Toumas's solo CD, The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck. The singer is Toumas's wife, Johanna. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JWwSVOo5K_k.html
Hello ferretmom66. I wrote this song down on a paper list tonight. I think there's 3 other people that mentioned something about this? I'm looking for the comments right now. Thank you so much.
Hello Kelly. Deep down in my heart I am worried about what might happen to you if there is no more nightwish song to react to. I have the feeling that you found the strow to cluch on. I think that I can see through your eyes to the bottom of your soul. Please do not think that this is your destiny, it´s a path you can walk a while. All those bands doing these devils horns. You can enjoy them at times but they are not the holy grail. Good luck on your way to new frontiers.
No worries dj1rst! My plan is this..... pick a genre' and I chose symphonic metal. So as I dig into Nightwish, I will be interjecting other recommended symphonic metals.... we have LOTS of things to look forward to. I appreciate your input because it's people like you that help me on this journey, and together we will forge ahead..... thanks again : )
