[Reaction] Nightwish - Storytime (My Fav so Far!) 

Imagine..., when Floor did this performance she still had to conquer the hearts of most of the Nightwish fans out there. And these fans had given their hearts to one or both of Nightwish' previous singers. Under those circumstances, to stay calm and nail it and turn this concert into one of the most legendary performances ever... that's just amazing.

Nightwsh changed my life...seriously. I'd wandered around all sorts of music, have seen a lot of so called 'legends' live, but discovering this band felt like coming home. They make you feel loved. They'll make you cry and punch the air (sometimes at the same time). What a ride.

Lots of people haven't discovered Nightwish. Their songs are often too long, and Symphonic Metal being a small genre doesn't tend to get played on radio stations. I only discovered them a year ago. Now they are an addiction. Floor has cast a Valkyrie spell over me. I'm not complaining.

Sir, funfact about Wacken. It is a small Town or village with almost 2000 Inhabitans. Outside Corona, in summer they become the heavy metal capital in Europe, with visitors from all over the world. In the beginning, the festival was small, but the villagers were uneasy first, as the visitors looked dangerous, bikes, leather, wild beards and so on. BUT after a very short amount of time, the villagers discovered, that this people/visitors were kind,courtous and helpful people. The visitors helped the elderlies in the village, sometime carrying the groceries etc.. Friendships were forged, and the festival slowly grew into something big. You and your family stay safe and sound. German greetings. PS, I hope that the festival can continue in the near future.

I am with you man, I just wish I could have started checking them out 7 or 8 years ago, my only regret with it all. Thank goodness many of their moments are immortalized, as Queen Floor has stated.

Just for fun, you should check out Floor's previous band, Revamp. Especially the song "Disdain" live at the Graspop festival. She goes from belting to clean to growls to operatic, sometimes in the space of a single word. Yep, Nightwish and the Valkyrie Goddess have claimed you. Being a huge NW-fan, I had the luck to see / shoot them twice at M'era Luna Festival (with "only" 25.000 people there) in Germany twice: In 2013 (eight days after this Wacken performance) and in 2015. Gabriel gave you a perfect guide with through the NW-orbit at your first reaction.Here are just my personal thoughts and suggestions: -> There are only great songs from Wacken: „Story Time“ (your current favorite song) and "Ever Dream" are catchy in a very positive way. "Song of Myself" starts catchy and ends with everyone headbanging. "Romanticide", "Last Ride of the Day" and "Ghostriver" are the heavier ones. -> "Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean" (Buenos Aires) will give you a metal and power blast: Maximum speed and Marco (the singing bass player) becomes Hannibal Lecter ;-) -> "Yours an Empty Hope" from Wembley (have a good look!! at the growls. You'll be surprised.) -> „Dead Boys Poem“ from Buenos Aires (so amazing and emotional) -> „Weak Fantasy“ (Tampere): Kai the beastat the drums, Troy joins in, great duets with Floor and Marco, … -> Elvenjig / Elvenpath (Buenos Aires): Awesome intro and it continues on that level -> "The greatest Show on Earth" (Tampere) is one of the two most epic songs. The title is not about the gig, but about the topic of the song: The evolution of mankind. -> "The Poet and the Pendulum“ (Wembley) is my personal absolute masterpiece of Nightwish. Be sure to know the background of this song ahead (short version see below *) --> "I want my tears back" from Buenos Aires is pure positive power with a dancing Floor and a fantastic (as always) Troy. ***** From the new album there are for obvious reasons no live sessions so far. For all songs there are lyric videos, except for „Noise". But maybe you'll give some songs a try as well. It's an awesome album. Definitely not an "easy" one with a lot of really unique songs, different from what is "typical" for Nightwish. Floor said that she was really challenged to sing the songs that Tuomas wrote for her. Knowing her abilities, you can imagine that they are "special“. It‘s a good idea to hear the album in the given order, but nevertheless here are some of my options to some of the songs. -->"Noise" is probably the most "typical" song and the only one with "real video". The video is great as the song itself --> "Tribal" is the heaviest one and Kai, the drummer, had to change his normal setup to be able to play it. --> "Shoemaker" (about Eugene Shoemaker) is such a heavenly and epic song with the possible epic ending. -> „Pan“ is just an amazing roller coaster ride. When it starts you for a moment think you‘re listening to power metal like Floors husbands band „Sabaton“. In the song you‘ll be reminded to „Tribal“ and „Noise“. -> Procession“ a rather calm song with so amazing vocals by Floor. A sad and important story and at the same time for me one of their musically most beautiful songs. --> "Harvest" is so different with Troy singing, that you will wonder if you're listening to Nightwish. -> „Endlessness“ is Marcos song and shows his great voice. --> "Music", „How's the Heart", ... are really cool songs as well. Of course. The album challenged Floor as singer, which is not easy to do, as she is one of the best and most versatile singers in the world. ***** If you'd like to Explore Floor on her own: Beste Zangers The concept of the show is, that on one day all singers sing a song for one of them. It's a song that is by that singer or a song that means a lot for him / her. Floor is singing there in German, Dutch, Spanis and English. Her "Phanom of the Opera" duet with Henk Poort is legendary. ***** * Backstory for „Poet and the Pendulum“ Tuomas (the keyboarder and songwriter) was in depression after the split from their first singer Tarja. He was in the position to either commit suicide in real real life or to write a song about it and die within that song. Luckily he choose the latter option. He is the poet, "killed" by the pendulum. And afterwards there is darkness, silence and just a fading heartbeat. It gives me a shiver every time. As this song is so emotional for him all the others have an eye on him. He even had his the vocals turned off in his in ears. One detail showing the ingenuity of Tuoams: Exactly three minutes after the words "Now I have only three minutes and counting" he is "killed" by the pendulum. And then everything becomes dark and there is just this fading heartbeat of the dying poet. Hello Mr Tuffnuts, I am glad you have discovered NW. I have been a fan since the late 90's. I am not sure where you live, But I live in the northeastern part of SC and I have seen NW 6 times over the years. I never got to see them with Tarja though. I have always had to travel to either Charlotte NC or Atlanta Ga to see them perform. There was one time that I had to travel to Louisville KY. They are amazing live. The USA shows are only about 2,000 people at the most. But they still put on a wonderful show. Thank you for sharing *new sub*

Nightwish Army Germany: You had no chance....no choice. Floor's voice just grabs you. Resistance is futile. Everyone falls in love with her. Gay, straight, human, cat, marsian.... It becomes an obsession. Don't say we didn't warn you! Storytime is great ....really great. The Opera Part was done as a prerecorded sample before Floor joined...... Storytime is oozing energy...whenever you feel down - watch the video.....When Floor start the Windmill all is well instantly. As I mentioned before...time to switch to the more heavier , darker side of Nightwish...please try Ghost River from Wacken 2013....a certified BANGER !! "Dark Chest of Wonders"...it's THE way to open a big show.....it was probably the first time many in this monstrous crowd had ever seen or heard Floor with NW, since she had just joined the band a few months earlier....needless to say I think she won them over with this first song....
