I got to see and watch Robin Yount's rookie season at the Old Milwaukee Stadium of the bleachers or planks for seats , as kids we would look down and see the levels one under the other as we spit to see how far it can hit a level, lol) Now Im just seeing Merrill on TV but the kid reminds me of Robin Yount with that vibe . Merril going to be a mainstream name like Yount, he just needs to see if he can play SS.

Padres have the best outfield in baseball, the best defensive 2b/SS combo in baseball, the best contact hitter in baseball but somehow are a .500 team. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Nice four game winning streak they have going. Let us remember this though, they are still around 500 in spite of it. The trick is trying to win tomorrow AND THEN maybe continue to be Washington or win the series against Washington. Problem hasn't been winning three in a row as much as it is losing for in a row after winning three in a row. For me I'm just going to sit back and wait and see what this team has in mind. I'm afraid without Jackson and Profar this team might be battling for last place. You can probably throw in Cronin worth with them. It's kind of ridiculous to have to bring in a closer in the 9th inning with two out after having a 6 to 0 lead.

They are starting to overachieve again. We are projected to have the most starting hitters in the All Start Line up. Tatis (RF), Profar (LF) and Arreaz (2B). 2 Phillies, 2 Dodgers, 2 Brewers and 3 Padres.

You know, most fans are saying man I'm sure glad that Jackson Merrill, Cronenworth and Profar are doing so well for us. But the way you choose to view it is, without those guys we'd be last place. And don't kid yourself, if we do win tomorrow and the Nats series, you're not going to be happy about it.

@@Jukeboxster Josh Naylor, CJ Abrams, Mackenzie Gore, TREA TURNER were all on watch lists. Otherwise, you're right. AJ has dealt away mediocre prospects that he drafted or signed with big bonuses in the international pool. Remember when AJ tried to cheat the international rules in his first year, got suspended and fined? All that, and big bonuses still doled out, and none of those guys panned out. AJ has to show he's all in. He's just waiting for Boras to trot out who he should be all in with. Jackson and El Nino are the most promising trade pieces to other competing teams, but too many fans got El Nino tattoos, so he'll trade the other and throw in prospects that he doesn't realize are actually good, but other teams know they are.

@@rexjaime8052 those were rookie of the year candidates when we dealt them? Merrill is in top form and contributing greatly to the team. There's zero reason to trade him because he's the type of player you trade *FOR*. You can't keep every prospect, that's impossible. You hoard prospects, eventually you're going to lose them anyway to Rule 5 draft, because you only have so many roster spots. You look at every single team and they've dealt away prospects that turned out to be good, it's inevitable. That's how we got Tatis. That's just the game, you hope to end up with more good players than you give away.

@@Jukeboxster Dodgers don't trade their prospects. They just become good pro players. Then they remain a good team despite injuries to their big signees. Funny how that works. AJ is not going to miss out on trading a guy at his peak value like he did with HS Kim. He'll deal for an exciting name from the Boras stable. Padres fans love deals

@@brando7266 but what does the manager have to do with a lack of ready talent to bring up ? No point in making a trade for a position player when the pitching staff is such a mess. See what Darvish does his next couple starts and if he lays an egg, IT'S OVER ANYWAY. They are going nowhere without starting pitching and the starters they're using are crippling the bullpen by only going 4 innings. I think you can forget about Musgrove and if Darvish can't make a comeback, they're done. That's why at the beginning of the season I said you cannot count on these two guys to stay healthy they better start looking for more starters and AJ finally called on the White Sox but that only brought one and they we're in far more need than one. Of course no one agreed with me at the time.
