*REACTION* Taylor Swift - Tolerate It (The Eras Tour) 

the last line that got cut is 'i sit and watch you'. she repeats the very first line of the song to represent staying in the cycle of abuse and not actually being able to leave. she gives the other person all the reasons why she should leave and starts to say she's finally going to do it, finally going to work up the courage to run, but then goes back to just watching and staying with that person because she can't get out. it's almost like the song is an imaginary conversation with herself, building up the fantasy of leaving before realizing she can't. it's such a heartbreaking song.

The guy is one of her dancers. And, yes, he’s great! Such an understated performance, but very evoking emotionally.

I saw a video of a woman saying this song makes her think of her relationship with her teenage daughter and how you’re so excited for them all the time and they just tolerate us being around and as a mom of a teenage daughter myself - that hit HARD - now I can’t listen to it without tearing up. Listening from that perspective is ROUGH

Taylor is the queen of closing out her songs with the first line of the song to really hit the message home. She is a lyrical genius.

The end line, She said, I sit and watch you.

My 23 yo daughter played this for me and i cried so hard. Its reminded me of when i was with her father. Every year got worse and worse. I got sick and not in position to leave yet i still made sure everything was perfect for him with never even a Thank you... Ya. This one hits HARD

That's Raphael Thomas, one of Taylor's dancers on tour, and he's an absolute king.

The lyric “ I wait by the door like I’m just a kid.” Makes me tear up all the time . Anyone else?!

Green 🟩. She is very musical theater when she performs, that's what I think set's her live performances apart from the majority of other big artists. She has had theater elements in her tours since the beginning (I especially remember the fearless tour (2009) and the speak now tour (2011) as very musical theater) and the acting is just getting better!

10:12 🟢 YES! Exactly! The performance of this song really helps to drive home the difference between where the inspiration for the song and the reality of the lyrics lives. Hearing someone say something vulnerable isn’t as poignant as seeing them say it in the moment it’s making them feel vulnerable. When she says “if it’s all in my head tell me now” you can see that she’s inviting him to scare away all the ghosts in her head so she can relax and understand him better. But he doesn’t, because her intuition is correct, he’s checked out and he is tolerating the love she’s showing him to avoid telling her he’s not in love with her anymore. She knows that’s what he’s feeling, she’s bracing herself to hear the truth but is also saturated in hope that he will tell her it’s just in her head and he is still in love with her. It’s all captured in the one expression bracing herself for his response. And what happens after is a realistic reaction to gaslighting. This song is about mental health abuse, more than it’s about the book Rebecca, despite that being the inspiration. I believe what she took from the book, has been applied to her own reality, it’s not a direct story about Rebecca as with “the last great American dynasty”

Green!! This was one of my favorite performances that I've ever seen of hers. It was so theatrical and understated. Sad and beautiful.

The thing I love about this song is that anyone can relate to this. Everyone has felt tolerated in a relationship at some point. I’ve seen edits of couples in movies, Anna and Elsa, I mean her writing skills are INSANE. She said Rebecca inspired her but she wrote it because she’s felt this in past relationships.

💚💚 thank you for this! tolerate it is probably one of my favourite Taylor songs and I was a little bummed that you guys never got experience it’s power in the last video so thank you for going back to it! She sings “I sit and watch you” at the end, almost as if to say I know this relationship isn’t good but I’m gonna tolerate you just tolerating my love because you are my world. One of the things I love about this song is even through it’s about a romantic relationship, everyone can relate to it in some way. Most people know how it feels to put your all into something for it never to be good enough, to feel like you’re just being tolerated.

I'm a huge fan of broadway and Taylor's tours have always had a theatrical element to them, but this Eras Tour is next level in the performances. I've seen the movie too many times already as if i hadn't been tuning in every show from a grainy livestream. She's incredible!!

A great way to celebrate the launch of TTPD with a double video on the channel... the presentation of champagne problems is also iconic. *A tip to find out if the video is real, is the comments section (there is always someone who questions whether it was made by a fan), even because many songs unfortunately do not have a clip. About the eras there is the film available on disney+ (probably from copyright problem, but you can have a basis)

I’m so glad you guys came back to this and got to see the live performance!! so the reason it may seem a little off from the songs you normally listen to by her is because the tour version has the section after the first chorus up to the bridge removed! I assume for story telling reasons. Also she ends with the line “i sit and watch you” the same way she opens the song meaning, yes she tolerates him barely tolerating her 😔

It's almost impossible to tell, but the song is in 10/8, which is a highly unconventional signature. (You could also say 5/4, but Aaron had a reason for expressing it as 10/8). You guys really need to watch the entire Eras Tour movie. It made her a lot of green.😉
