After seeing a documentary about Chinngis Khaan years ago, I have been interested in the history and culture of Mongolia. I am mesmerized by throat singing and overtone singing. I wish I could visit Mongolia one day. I was thrilled when I first saw the Hu. They are fantastic!!!! You should be proud.

@@1963Benedict Utter nonsense. The Mongols were undeniably brutal and did slaughter millions but only an imbecile tries to reduce history into good and evil-there's ALWAYS nuance. Chinggis' Yassa was one of the most advanced and progressive law codes of the medieval period and among other things reflects his deep respect for all religions, not only tolerating other religions but actively encouraging open debates between different religious groups, requesting and encouraging missionaries and providing tax reliefs to all religious leaders and institutions equally (policies which his successors would continue). Under Mongol rule numerous new art styles were fostered, many areas underwent cultural and agricultural revolutions (usually as a direct result of Mongol policies and actions) and trade flourished. You only have to Google the term "Pax Mongolica" to see the more nuanced situation caused by the Mongol conquests and the subsequent peace. There is obviously no excuse for the atrocities committed by the Mongol regime but to consider one of the most complex, powerful and fascinating entities in world history nothing more than a bunch of barbarous monsters and parasites is childishly simplistic and utterly wrong.

One of my favorite lines in this song is "Cherished the wisdom of thinkers", because that's really accurate to how Genghis (Chinggis) Khan operated. Before him, Mongols tended to value bloodlines as the path to power. But Temudgin (his birth name) was different. What he valued most was ability and loyalty, and set about forming a meritocracy in his empire when he rose to power.

Ocean is right. Mongols compare everything great to as big as ocean. Chinggis means ocean, so he is King big as ocean. As everybody knows the word Dalai Lama? Dalai is also mean ocean. So, his knowledge deep and big as ocean.

They came to town a week ago they were AMAZING. I was on my feet sent us into trance for days afterward. We LOVED them and their show. See them live when they come near get up close ( we stood in second row) The throat singing vibrated through my body out the top of my head. :)

You're English is fine and nothing to be ashamed of at all because there are plenty of people who have it as a first language that do not speak it very well or nearly as good and articulate as you do. To speak more than one language is an accomplishment and it makes people who do smarter than those who can't be bothered to learn to speak more than just English and then complain about everybody who doesn't speak English.

I have loved these guys for a while. I am so in love with Jaya (the first one singing on this vid. He is portraying the old man telling the story). You need to check out their other videos. They had a concert in Santa Fe, NM on 9/5/19 and it was AMAZING!

Eyes were to signify the ancestors that are in the body of the shamans band members for short in this video.another thing is chingis khans body has not been found apparently it is said that in order to not have their great khans corpse be used to other stuff they have killed all people that were involved in the burying of khan.

BTW, we Mongols never compare anything to Sky or we say Tengri. Somehow they knew Tengri is not conquerable...but land was. I know conquering is not a good way of doing anything, personally i am not favor of it. But that was what they did 800 some years ago...

The Mongols at their height under Genghis Khan (correct pronunciation Chingis Han) , had a maximum of 100,000 to 130,000 Mongolian men, and you can add a few more thousand for captured enemy slaves such as engineers, workers and labourers and soldiers from other nomadic peoples. Every male member of the Mongol society was meant to be a warrior. He was also meant to have at least 4 horses. Genghis Khan organised the Mongols according to the decimal system. Out of every 10 men in the Mongol army, 6 were horse archers and 4 were heavy lancers. At their height, The Mongols dominated China, the Middle East, large portions of Russia, and most of Eastern Europe and almost all of Asia with the exception of India, and Indo-China. If the Mongols had however, decided to extend beyond Eastern Europe, there wasn't a single power in Europe strong enough to repulse them.

3:05 “blue sealed mongols” I think, forgive me if I’m wrong. Is a nod to their genetic hallmark. When Mongolian babies are born, they have a clutter of veins right above their butt. There’s an unofficial medical term called “‘Mongolian blue butt syndrome”. Babies born as far as France have this meaning the seed of a Mongol reached as far as France lol. They conquered a lot of nations, cultures, races. And it wasn’t always pretty.
