I saw in you previous video that you are a millennial :). As such, my humble opinion is that you should check out 2 important bands, Evergrey and Dimmu Borgir. Totally different stiles but I'd like to see the reaction to the progressive nature of Evergrey Weightless and Dimmu Borgir Gateways (official video with captions on) the latter being a beautiful mix of disturbing image and existential nihilism in a symphonic black metal package. Best of wishes in your youtube endeavor, sub from me.
Metallica song Master of Puppets is a must for any new Metallica listener! Also try Yahweh or The Valley by a Christian metal band named Stryper. Promise you’ll love it!
I was introduced to these guys when i was in high school, but it was just noise, loved 1, but didn't pursue. Its very recently that i really came back to them and understood their music. Gosh, its pure genius, no other way to describe it.
Reminds me of stealing my brothers casettes and listening with headphones because my Mom thought it was devil music...until I showed her the lyrics for Puppets and in particular Creeping Death "This is church stories mudder!" haha

Somehow, in some way, their music is not screams, shouts, noise, or bits... Its not just metal, rnr, etc. .... It's subtle and deep connecting power. It's a different spiritual level. Really. Maybe it's just me, but few songs from other musicians create this feeling to me..... They say that other bands do play harder, faster, better. It just doesn't matter.
I have listened to this song since release, I know it forwards and backwards. But..Since my mom passed away , the only line I hear is " I was me but now he's gone" I believe the me that had a mom died with her, and this new incomplete version of me is left behind.
I realized i wasn't alone with depression because of this song. The fact that someone else understood the misery, hopelessness and anger i felt was very helpful to me. Thanks Metallica.
The saddest part for me was years later when I figured out James wrote it after their gear got stolen and they thoughts they can’t tour Europe for the first time. I mean yeah, sure, it was a big deal, but not as serious a topic as many people imagine when hearing this song.
@@Alpysf iirc there was a chance they might not have made it as a band because of the theft. So I can imagine it must have been extremely heavy weight to hear that your dreams might have just died.
This is a basic song anyone burnt out on heavy drug and alcohol addiction can relate to. There song “one” however, is a song that transports all its listeners to a world known only by those who can’t hear it. That’s the best they ever performed
This song literally saved my life. I do mean literally. In the depths of dark despair, a soulful sound did fill the air. Could I do a thing can't be undone, or stay, now I know I'm not alone?
Metallica has had me by the throat since 82, the year I joined the Corps. And in their 50s now, they're still killing it! #hardwired #that was just your life.
How awesome is it to see that dawning realisation in someone that metal is felt in the soul. Like many of us who first got our taste of metal glory in the 80's and early 90's, these millenials do have the capacity to become metal heads. Here's hoping slanzzy picks up that cudgel and carries this tradition forward.
Benjamin Sartori don’t forget, a lot of us millennials were born in the early 80s like myself. Metal was still pretty popular when I was going thru high school but it was on the downhill slope at that point. Metallica was still going strong especially with the Black album. Slipknot, slayer, CoB, and fear factory were still the rage. Music has totally changed now, testosterone is pretty much nonexistent in the music that today’s male teens and 20-somethings listen to. It’s sad.
@@slanzzy You could be the first to react to: Metal Church Anthem To The Estranged.. It's about the homeless Also they are very underrated, they have several great songs, dive into Metal Church.
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xnKhsTXoKCI.html Master of Puppets and for your first reaction I suggest this lyric version. Enjoy it 😉😎
My uncle committed suicide while listening to this song. The pain is realized each time I hear it because in this song we the family that knew him, know this song meant he was on the fence about it and in contemplation. The song didn't push him over, but tried to save him. 😔
Whenever I start watching a Fade to Black reaction my thought is: "I hope she/he appreciates the amazing extended soloing at the end because nobody does long, multi-layered solos like Metallica." Was not disappointed.
Metal stereotypes were always greatly exaggerated, especially for a band like Metallica. Their first 3 albums all contained beautiful and powerful music, some songs are gonna be more intense but they always remain very melodic and balanced. The way you appreciated the instruments in the last part of this song tells me you should react to "Metallica - Orion" , it's an instrumental, no vocals, very well crafted and balanced it captures the mind in a similar way that Fade to Black does at the end. Every reaction of that song is amazing and I feel yours would be very interesting as well. Great reactions with an interesting perspective, keep it up! Suggestion: "Metallica - Orion"
That was my suggestion after One. I'm sure once our host listens to Orion it will take her to the next level. Looking forward to her reaction. If I may, I predict a complete assault on her emotions and a devoted member of the metal community. I see total victory.⌛🌹
Very nicely done 🤘 Metallica - Master of Puppets, Orion, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Creeping Death, Halo on Fire, Fixxxer, Outlaw Torn, Bleeding Me (lyric videos) Iron Maiden - "Rime of the Ancient Mariner", trust me, u'll appreciate it musically and lyrically. And from ur end of video list, for u, this early in ur journey, NO "Little piece of heaven" for u, trust me on this. One day once u know the genre. They're a great band, but just not that song.
This song would just break you down into pieces, literally destroy you. And then, when the song ends, you realize that it’s been actually gathering your pieces and reshaping them into a stronger version of your past self. It changes the way you look at life. Then suddenly you feel better after being so depressed. Such a masterpiece 🔥🤘
I really think you would appreciate Nothing Else Matters. Also, To Live Is To Die with a little research about the song. When your ready to listen to faster and heavier stuff I recommend Dyers Eve. Its one of their fastest songs but it has a very personal meaning to the lead singer that I think you would appreciate.
YES!! I was going to suggest this one as well. I think its one of their best. Pay attention to the transitions as well. Its about as close to perfection as you can get.
I listened Metallica since I was 7 years old and the lyrics it helps me to understand and overcome new problems in my life now I'm growing up and I almost 20. I remember when I was 10 I always said James Hetfield was the father I never haved, I've been using to call him Papá Heltfield haha. I really appreciate him and all the band
I've seen them 5 times or so, took my oldest when he was 9 and again at 17. Both of us play guitar as well, first song I taught him was Welcome Home (Sanitarium). My 2nd is now 9, I was really hoping to take him to see Metallica this summer. It would have been a tradition. It's ok tho, we can wait. As long as they are safe, along with everyone else in the world. I can't wait till this is over tho, to show him 1000's of people rocking out to Metallica on stage once again...
Metallica and metal as a genre is so incredibly good, it sucks that metal gets a negative reputation from people that think it's evil or just loud noise, from personal experience metallica has helped me a lot with depression, and I know it has helped a lot of other people too.
Clowns at school did not get this when was new! But also from 50 feet from me you would think was a rap guy . Took a bit of grief for it. Still a damn good song at 51! Was not thinking about being almost old back then!!
Good music doesnt need aproval my friend, nowadays there are a bunch of assholes, Metallica doesnt need aproval from anyone. Still good to know it has helped you with depression, beat that fucker
@@tacuazinful If knew then what I know now might have stuck with music in high school. Was way to cool for tuba! Who thought that this kind of music mix would work so well??!!
I agree wholeheartedly- in the movie 'Deathgasm,' the character Brodie says that 'It's like when life sucks, and you feel alone and empty. Stick on some metal and life is better beacuse someone else knows the pain and the rage you're going through.' Exactly that. It helps so many people. Those I know mock metal as a genre, but it's their loss.
Definitely a deep message in this song. It’s definitely on the heavier side musically but very powerful musically and lyrically. I have seen this song, despite its fast pace and heavy sound, bring a man to tears. Give it a listen for sure.
@@gravitydragon1904 musically for sure, but listen to the lyrics and put yourself in the situation they're picturing. Think of your 20 year old son being sent to go die. That shit's emotional.
Metallica's The Unforgiven - Just as thought provoking as the last two. Also, I never see real, genuine reactions to music (especially metal) anymore. It really is nice to see someone listening to the song for what it is and not just for what the media or society says it is. I really enjoy watching these, so thank you for putting these out there and giving the music a chance.
And if "Orion" has to be the song, then use this video, which is giving this instrumental the right context - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Z6j63ImEKyo.html
This song is insane, because many listen the song on high depression with suicidal intentions but then when the amazing guitar solo comes they realized life worth it … amazing Metallica song
I had the same exact opinion of Metallica at first. Now I'm just a die-hard fan. I think the next song you should give a try to ease you in the wide range of Metallica would be "Nothing Else Matters" and/or "The Unforgiven". Can't wait to see more!
This song was my dads favorite song. I took it as a suicidal song. Keep in mind I was the one that turned my dad on to Metallica. He took it as his relief from the bs with my mom. Now here I am decades later looking for revial of this song. My dad was a great man. 7+ years ago he passed of a sudden heart attack... I played this song over and over again cuz he loved the song for a different reason, but it came clear to me. I havent given in. It still is a masterpiece which I have new eyes for thanks to thid video. Much love
Metallica is a really great band to react too, because most of their music addresses underlying social issues and controversial topics. Not only that, but they match their music very well to the lyrical content of their songs. These guys are masters of their craft. No one really makes music quite like they do. Just subscribed! Hope to see more
Mitchell Mills thank you!! So far, I have to agree with you. It's REALLY cool to see important topics being addressed in such a creative and talented way.
Try "Nothing else matters", but probably you somehow heard that one even by mistake some day in the past. But i have no doubt that you will like it, and it's a little happier to 😊
Megadeath and Metallica are the best metal ballad bands of all time. Megadeath with a little.more rhythmic snap imo. Both great powers of music..Great artists. TRY A TOUTE Le.MONDE
Certainly try Toute Le Monde. When you're ready for another Metallic suggestion, I'd offer the idea of jumping forward in time a bit. "Nothing Else Matters", from the Black Album; "The House Jack Built', "Hero of the Day" or "Mama Said". Harvester of Sorrow, To Live Is To Die. You have a lot of good listening ahead!

Would also recommend listening to Alice In Chains. There's definitely a lot of views there as well. 'Down in a Hole' is usually a good one to start with, or something like 'Man in the Box' or 'Rooster'.
You're a bit young, my daughter's age, but here's my feedback. I'm a US Army veteran (was in Germany when the wall fell) and combat veteran from the Gulf War. We listened to Metallica all the time after the war. I'm not into heavy metal, but the Fade to Black album spoke to me. I took many years of piano lessons when younger. It wasn't until later, and the S&M album, that I realized the band and those songs are truly musical master pieces. They bring so many pieces of my life together. Thank you for realizing the emotion impact that this band is capable of achieving.
Songs: The Unforgiven, Enter Sandman, Nothing Else Matters. For whom the bell tolls. To name a few. There are a lot of songs. And you’re right you just touched a bit of the hole world.
I just saw Metallica in August in Pittsburgh and during fade to black a girl started balling out crying behind me. The impact this song has had on people is incredible. One of Metallica’s best
@@antivert That's no reaction for me in this form. I can also turn on the camera and hear a song the first time and then say my opinion. In a reaction I want to hear what the reacting person thinks about the parts and maybe watch a funny reaction in surprising parts
It's nice to hear what people think about certain parts of a song, but it's also a little annoying when they keep pausing it and talking that they miss important parts of the song.
James wrote this at a pretty dark time. Their gear had been stolen and things were just uncertain. To me this song was an optometry, doesn’t glorify suicide but recognizes it as an option, not the best one. It also helped me latter on to understand my mothers suicide. It took many year of anger but I now understand. I don’t agree of course but I understand. Whatever pain she was suffering is over now. I just wish she was here so we could go through it/ experience it together, and work through it. I’m trying, but it isn’t easy.
My brothers favorite song. We played this at his funeral, not for the lyrics but the instrumental. There wasn't a dry eye in the room. Hard to listen to still.

Dryers... Correction....dyers Eve and to live is to die are the songs I can't listen to because it reminds me of my brother and my last memory of him playing lead guitar and our friend playing rhythm on " to live is to die" I think...where both guitars are in harmony and I get that picture in my head of him full of life and smiling playing that. God it tears me up inside...we lost him 4 yrs ago and just a year later my mother stopped fighting cancer of the liver and I had to sign for the doctors treatment to stop...thats the hardest thing I've ever done, I looked to my wife and said my God what have I done I just let her die. She was in horrible pain and all her organs were shutting down. What do you do you know.Been a hard 5 yrs.
I would recommend "unforgiven" and "nothing else matters", probably their most popular songs and easier on the ear for someone who's not into this kind of music. I see what other people recommenting, excellent songs, but not fit for the purpose, I think
Well, you got One, a song about war and Fade to Black that talks about feelings, so I think the next step would be "The Day That Never Comes" which is a mix of both concepts. Ps: Cemetery Gates by Pantera is also a great one.
This song was written when soneone broke in and stole all their equipment and james was heartbroken as somebody stole his very first amp that was given by his mother and held sentimental value
Awesome! Listen to Metallica’s Orion. Its an instrumental and a favorite of mine. Master of Puppets is another one to listen to - its about being a slave to addiction. On a more modern release, Spit Out the Bone is another favorite of mine.

This song is quintessential to all who want to sample anything Metallica. If there was a college course on Metallica, This song would kick off the 101 studies.
Yep, this song was the theme tune for my teenager years and it summed up exactly how I was thinking and feeling at the time. I'll not go into a hell of a lot of detail about those years in the mid 1980's to the early 90's but songs like this kept me going. Metal in general kept me going.
My reaction was much the same when I first heard Fade to Black. Kids killed themselves when they heard the song, kids wrote Metallica letters about how the song saved them. People loved it. I loved it, i still do. When I hear the solo escalate, man dude. It takes me back to some pinché hard days. Each part was an emotion I felt before I tried suicide and when I hear those parts in the solo, I go through them again. At one point, the solo turns(in my mind) where you did it, and you're dying. And you're just alive enough yet to think i want to go back, I can't go back and at the end, it's too late. Goodbye. It hits me hard cause I didn't take those 3 steps though I tried three times. Fade to Black, man that song hits I'm still here, even though my life was miserable for 16 years. I am kinda harsh on the shit but if anyone has problems out there, man. Don't do it. You can't see it, I didn't see it but you gotta keep going. There's people out there that will call into the darkness and keep talking to you till you come out. There are people out there that don't know how much more rich their lives will be with you in it. Just keep going man, people will help.
hang in there man- back in the day, this was song I listened to when I got the most depressed- and it always brought me out of my depression, in the end.
Same here, ultimate catch22. Ideal song to end it and yet so beautiful you remember there are things worth living for. Literally saved my life ! Only one drawback, I can't listen to it when driving. I always end up closing my eyes for that eargasm on the high note.
I'm tough as nails dude and this song breaks tears down my eyes. I have been there so many times. I can honestly say that Metallica has saved my life quite a few times. I have almost tasted death a couple times and Metallica has been there to pull me through it. The way they can tell a story with music notes and melodic and angry vocals is just amazing. Thanks James, Kirk,Lars, Cliff, Jason and Robert.

"To Live is to Die" is a great instrumental from Metallica. I personally don't like the first part of Kirk's solo but it gets better. Please listen to it. The melody is just so moving and reaches the deepest parts of the soul without lyrics. I hope you end up listening to it and enjoy.

Since you asked, this song definitely got me through some dark shit. Drug abuse and disease nearly destroyed me. I was ready to give up. And when I was at my lowest, it just felt good to hear someone else say they had “simply nothing more to give”. And that common understanding was the same thing that helped me pull out of it. Funny thing is they just wrote it after someone stole their gear!
There isn't lyrics, but a quote by Cliff.. "When a man lies he murders some part of the world These are the pale deaths Which men miscall their lives All this I cannot bear to witness any longer Cannot the kingdom of salvation Take me home"

I think the biggest struggle is to face what you are feeling. Not just this song, Metallica have this quality of point out what are you feeling, help you face it, and then the power to help go out. James says on an interview he would like to have the super power of healing... Maybe he already have it.
