Galenskaparna is a comedy group. After Shave is a singing group. They joined forces in the early 80s and became quite popular in Sweden. The word "Galenskaparna" is a combination of "Galenskap" (madness) and "skaparna" (the creators), so it could be interpreted as "creators of madness".

After the "Macken" miniseries was released in 1986 they became more than quite popular - it was actual rockstar fame. They couldn't sustain that, but...

This skit was written and aired around the year 2000, voicing the anger and frustration many people felt against the economic establishment following the banking/housing crisis of the 1990's. Galenskaparna created a lot of really funny left-leaning political satire during this era. "Trögfattad" doesn't translate directly as "Slow-witted", there'a touch of "obstinate" as well in the word, as in someone who doesn't really WANT to understand. Which many people felt back then about the establishment elites, myself included (and still do). Much of what Claes Eriksson wrote is difficult to translate, as many other commenters here have noted.

Galenskaparna and After Shave were two local music/theatre groups that combined to do both live- and TV-shows and a few movies back before the millennium. The guy at the podium writes most of their material and they do a lot of song numbers. Their most famous production is a TV show called "Macken" about strange people in and around a rural gas station, also including many now classic song numbers.

One of my favourite movies as a kid was "Leif". I liked the songs and the tempo. When later seing this as an adult I see the sharp satire against the Swedish weapon industry. When completing the movie Sweden had one of its worst scandals involving "Bofors" and weapon smuggling. When marketing "Leif" they did not distance themselves from the simularities but instead left the text "The events in this movie is more true than they should be..."

Being a result of a fusion between music and comedy, they often include musical numbers. They have few classics that often show up in childrens shows "Gött å Leva", "Husvagn", "Pappa jag vill ha en italienare" brings nostalgic summer vibes to most Swedes. :) They follow and strengthen the tradition of Swedish West Coast comedy. Very clean but sharp satire. No swears, no vulgarity often plays with words.

It was my childhood in the 90’s. My dad showed me everything by them and I love everything they’ve done. You can’t go wrong. Some stuff are very Monty Python-esque and some stuff are just raw and straight forward political satire!

Galenskaparna (The crazy creators) is probably the best comedy team in Sweden since many years..! They have done a lot.... but not translated to English I guess. The creative person in this group of men and one woman is the person, that leads the meeting here. He is writing everything... and that's a lot trhough all years....

My favourite sketches from Galenskaparna och After shave is by the guy playing the chairman in this video, where he does a long monologue where every word starts with the letter B. And another favourite is a sketch where the group does olympics in gymnastics. Sadly I don't think any of those are translated into english

Galenskaparna och After Shave was originally two groups formed in the late 1970's. In 1982 they started to work together and the shows "Träsmak" (1983), "Cycklar" (1985) and "Macken" (1986) was on Swedish TV and became extremely popular. All of their shows are in Swedish and are mainly written by Claes Eriksson. My favourite is the sketch "Mor i Skutan", originally from 1993. An old woman (played by Claes Eriksson) is visited by a local policeman (played by his brother Anders Eriksson) sometimes in the late 1800's. The language is a parody of oldfashioned Swedish with lots of invented faux words and centers around accusations of prostitution. The concluding line is the hillarious "Kärringen väver myror i gubbens byxor" (litt. "the hag is weaving ants into the old man's pants") indicating that the policeman has an itch down below. Sadly this type of comedy is almost impossible to translate into English.

Galenskaparna & After Shave are among the biggest and most popular comedy groups in Swedish history. Since the two groups merged into one in 1982, they have done: 28 stage productions (both musicals, revues, restaurant shows, tours, 8 movies, 5 TV series and over 30 music albums. Their second TV series "Macken" (Swedish slang for "The Filling Station") which came in 1986 was seen by almost 4 million viewers (at that time Sweden had 8 million inhabitants). Their stage production the musical "Stinsen brinner" ("The Station master is burning") was played 432 times and was seen by almost 300,000 theatergoers (when the tickets were released there was a kilometer long queue through Gothenburg for the theater's ticket sales). Most of their productions have been successful in Sweden. However, they are quite old now (Claes Eriksson is 74, Kerstin Granlund 73 and the others are between 68 and 69). Jan Rippe and Per Fritzell still go around together and do pub shows, Claes Eriksson has done solo shows, played theater with Per Andersson (also directed Donizetti's opera "Viva la mamma", for which he wrote new Swedish texts). Peter Rangmar died of cancer in 1987, Kerstin Granlund retired from the stage in 2004 after a doctor's report on exhaustion syndrome (but has continued to work with the group behind the scenes as, among other things, as a director's assistant), Knut Agnred retired in 2018 due to heart problems. The humor group Grotesco with, among others, Henrik Dorsin and Per Andersson probably wouldn't have existed without Galenskaparna & After Shave, the vast majority of them there are pronounced huge fans. Henrik Dorsin and Per Andersson even invited Claes Eriksson (the one who wrote almost all the scripts and music in the group) on a weekend trip to London because they so badly wanted him to teach them about humor.

They are a combined musical and comedy group who made many many sketches, often performed live (Revue). They have also made some pretty stinging comedical satire films from the 80s to the 00s. They concern swedens arms exports and corruption (Leif), the stock market (hajen som visste för mycket/the shark that knew too much), the downsizing of the railway system (Stinsen brinner... filmen alltså/the stationmaster is on fire... the movie.), the demonopolizing of the swedish TV system and fears that it would be used for stupifying propaganda (monopol/Monopoly), and their last and more toned down satire movie about an insurance company which raised the boards bonuses by several hundred millions. (Den enskiljde medborgaren/The singular citizen) I dont know if you can find them translated, but they are real fun gems of their time. They also broke through with "Macken"/The gas station where they play sketches as two haphazard mechanics/gas station attendants in bumfrick sweden. It is also lovely, though it might be colored by my nostalgia. =)
