They had to go back to 2008 because Dancing Queen was supposed to be released instead of Gee. However, SM ent was still working out Copywrite issues for Duffy's "Mercy" so they released Gee instead, but Dancing Queen was filmed the same time as Gee and you can see a lot of the same outfits used in that video to Dancing Queen

As someone who has been a Sone forever now it was so great to go on this journey through their MVs with you. Sometimes I forget just how much I love some of these songs and hearing them with someone who never had before brings me joy and makes me feel just the way I felt when they were released. Thank you!

The amazing thing is that SM really keep this (Dancing Queen) as a secret for 5 years. There's a pic leaked about it and we all thought that it's just a photoshoot for Gee. After SM released this in 2013 we just realised that it was from this Dancing Queen MV. Trolled for 5 years, but not dissapointed. lol

Lil touch is such a good song, it’s a shame they never performed it live. I don’t think there even is a full choreo for the whole song :( I saw people explaining Dancing Queen to you here and in the discord so I'm not gonna repeat what they've already said, so here's a funny thing instead: I actually heard Dancing Queen before Mercy, so one day I was out and Mercy played and I freaked out for a few second thinking they were playing SNSD but then Duffy started to sing and I was so confused lol, had to look it up to see what it was about. The Winter Story live video is one of my favorite things TTS has done as a subgroup, I already love the song by itself, but this performance is so chill and comforting… a bit like your channel a guess :)

Dancing queen was really filmed at Gee era, because there were some pictures of the MV leaked on the internet at that time (2009). And then when it released on 2013, I freaked out because I still remember a picture with spesific dance move and outfit🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

it was filmed in 2008, but there was some sort of issue (not sure what, maybe legal issue due to being a remake or smth) so they changed the title to Gee last minute.. the girls got super worried bc of the sudden change, taeyeon cried (she didn't think Gee's bubblegum cutesy-ness fit her), turns out it was the best thing that happened as Gee propelled them to superstardom.. and it was just the start of taeyeon's reverse profetical taste as in the songs she likes the least become their greatest hits lol I think, specially after ur familiar with their solos, u realize each girl's individual taste and style can be very distinct from what most ppl will associate w snsd (even tho once u get to know more of them, they r pretty versatile).. but that just makes me respect them more, bc no matter the concept they always pulled it off like pros

with snsd, for me, i started getting intersted and liking them for their music and talent but (and i know i'm preaching to the choir here and i dont mean to overhype their reality/variety stuff), but the more i got to know their personalities and all was when i realized there was no going back! they're all just so charming and genuine and kind... and bc we have acess to their journey from teens till now, i can't help but feel proud of the grown ass women they are and how they all have found success in their respective fields! that's why i can never take serious anyone who tries to use their age as a drag, bc there's just something very sexy and appealing about a group of powerfull and sucessful 30 year old women to me

Dancing Queen was originally filmed in 2008 and it was indeed filmed and was originally going to be released as a remake of Duffy's Mercy. However there were legal agreement issues with this remake and thus Dancing Queen needed to be put aside.

10:02 So yes, this is Duffy's Mercy. It was sold to SM before it became a huge Grammy nominated hit. This was going to be their comeback at the end of 2008. Mercy was such a big hit and any thing smelling of plagiarism gets so attacked in KPOP , so SM shelved it for 5 years. Instead, they kept the skinny colored jeans look and did Gee instead and the rest, as they say, is history. It came out at the end of the December 2012, just before IGAB on New Year's Day. The girls were mortified to have to be compared with their 5 year younger selves on video, but the few performances they did for their 2013 comeback were really good.

I'm not a dancer or anything but even pro dancers agree with that. We have vocal director, fashion designer, actors, dj, authors, songwriters, producers, choreographer, CEO, models... IN ONE GROUP Also their personalities. I mean we can't know everything but I believe they are good persons
