Now Frollo was one of the _most_ despicable Disney villains ever. But Geoff as Frollo? Hear me out lmao

Yes Geoff and Kathy have a little boy. There is a lovely video showing the lengths they went to, to have him. Geoff has recently done an interview in which he explains that whoever comes up with the concept, then does everything except the final mix. So it would all have been Layne, apart from the actual singing.

People keep saying J. None "left" Voiceplay. No, he didn't. He's every inch still a part of it. He's just on sabbatical. I love having Cesar AND J. None together!

Yeah, this is probably my second favorite Disney villain song and I've loved all the covers by bass and/or acapella groups, but this is by far my favorite. Geoff has no business making a bastard like Frollo sound so damn sexy.

With Tony being drafted into the video, that made four generations of Voiceplay baritone there - Layne, Tony, J and Cesar! You have a tough job, not waking your kids. I have a loud voice but no kids, so I only have to worry about my next door neighbors hearing screams and calling police!

Awesome reaction as always Dave. It was Geoff's idea for Tony to be the guard. Behind the scenes..... Geoff: Hey Tony. What ya doing? Tony: Me? Next shot Tony was in a robe putting on rings. Tony was in the other room that connects to the studio where they were singing. Layne asked Geoff if he wanted Kathy to do it. That's when Geoff suggested Tony then called the above to him. Yes. Geoff has a 6 year old son named William. He goes to a lot of the shoots with Geoff and Kathy. He was at Geoff's shoot for his Jacks Lament video. I just finished watching the premiere.

The original voice actor for Frollo. Tony Jay, did the singing voice as well. Not only did Geoff kill the lead vocals here, but those arpeggios he does behind J.'s verse killed me again. They all did a great job, including Eli voicing the guard..

Oh my bro, I feel that SO much! The first time I saw and heard this, I was watching it on Discord with a group of friends who are also fans of Voiceplay. When it ended, I was literally unable to speak or move. There was about 10 seconds of silence, then one of my friends quietly said: "Oops, I think we just broke Doc." He didn't know how very right he was. This one broke me.

I’ve struggled deciding whether I like Tomi’s Hellfire or Jonathan Young’s better. Tomi’s arrangement is amazing; Jonathan’s videography and acting scared the heck out of me. Voiceplay’s version is so different-I adore it, but I can’t compare it to the other two because it’s not the same thing at all even tho it’s the same song. What a great arrangement! I might have liked the mixer to turn up Cesar’s “guitar” bit a little more. It sounds great but it’s hard to hear. Geoff does have a beautiful son-I’m thinking he’s about eight or nine by now, but I am awful with ages. Imagine living in that house-if Geoff turns on that bass voice, you KNOW you’re in trouble! LOL.

Ah, what came to me later: I know perfectly how you feel - I had the same feeling when listening to VPs "Seven Nation Army" - their version for me was _so much_ better than the original, it blew me out of the water and I had to listen to it about 7 times in a row since it was so very, very good. - On the other hand... here, I was lacking the comparison, as I seem to be one of the very few people around who never ever heard the song before. (I think I never watched the movie either, not even partially). So I thought it was extremely well done - but I had to listen to it a few times now (and fully understand the lyrics/ having subtitles on) to understand what's going on and really appreciate the tension building up throughout the song. But again, loved to see how VPs version apparently was everything you had ever dreamt of. :)

Dave, as usual you did not disappoint. I have mixed feelings about this song. I love this song. It is powerful and beautiful and terrifying. But I absolutely detest Frollo. He is the epitome of evil to me and there are just too many parallels in today’s world to make it easy for me to tolerate him. But they did an exceptional job on this. I particularly love the beginning when they are doing the choral bit and then almost like bells going off in the background. I love that juxtaposition of threat and redemption. It’s interesting that Eli, Cesar and J sang most of the parts that were more “thoughtful” about Esmeralda. The descriptions of her hair and what she embodied were all voiced by them. The more threatening portions of the song were voiced by Geoff. It kind of accentuates the struggle that he’s going through. They actually made him more human than I had previously considered him. And you need to get yourself some proper smelling salts if you’re gonna go all “fainting couch on us! 🫠😵‍💫

Yes, Tony Jay was both the speaking and singing voice for Judge Frollo!! He was an incredible actor, and I think he would be very impressed with this rendition. That being said, this may be the only version of Hellfire that I'll be listening to for the forseeable future.

In their cover of “Daddy Sang Bass” from some years ago, their families joined them at the end. Geoff was holding a toddler. And his eyes already went red in “Headless Horseman” a year or two ago.
