Don’t listen to anybody saying you don’t react enough; I’d MUCH prefer real reactions than you just screaming “WOAH! OH MY GOD YOU GUYS!” Every 5 seconds. We’ve got enough of that already. Great job, keep it up!
Agreed as well. You can tell slanzzy's reactions are genuine and it's exactly the intensity and tone that one would expect, given how soft spoken and calm her demeanor is when she's talking. Reactors that yell, stand up and run around, slap things, throw themselves etc. usually look and sound very phony, and nothing kills a reaction for me faster than the feeling that the person is putting on a spectacle rather than honestly reacting to the song. Keep up the good work slanzzy! You do you and don't let the complainers get to you. 🙂
As a recommendation, I'd have to say Pantera - Cemetery Gates. Back when Phil could still sing. It's one of those legendary metal songs from the early 90's.
Watching people’s reactions to this song in particular has become something of a hobby of mine....and you DO react plenty. What you DON’T do is OVERREACT like some people on RU-vid who think if they have some kind of crazy persona they’ll get more views and followers. I’d much rather watch a genuine reaction than some expert in video editing overacting and pretending to be something their not. Stay authentic, and be real and you’ll get noticed in a GOOD way. Keep up the good work, Slanzzy, your videos are great!!
Don’t listen to those who want a bigger reaction, you be you. You’re doing great. If you want to see more Jinjer, try “Teacher, Teacher” m/v or the live video of “Perennial” from Waken. Also the “Outlander” video from the 2014 Best Ukrainian Metal Band show, is great too, despite being a few years older.
Yep. Totally agree with LEO. The order of videos that is generally considered the 'best' primer on Jinjer is Pisces first (for the shock value), then "Teacher, Teacher" (which REALLY showcases what not only Tatiana, but the entire band is capable of), and then 'Perrennial' Live from Waken (to see how crazy awesome they are live). From there... well, pretty much all their videos and performances are great.
Fun fact: when I was at Wacken last year (I’m still wearing the wristband to this day! lol) I gotta say at least 50% of the crowd was female. And majority younger women too. They know they will respected at a metal concert and really jump onboard with the live music being played. So so so so awsome to see. :) 🤘😄
First rule of metal: never compromise who you are. I've thoroughly enjoyed your reactions, your face is quite emotive. Some reactors enjoy technical excellence, some enjoy song structure and music theory, some focus on lyrics, others still find the emotion in songs. There is no right or wrong way to react, keep doing you.
I think i ask this one on another video before, so if Kenneth second it, i third it ! (is it even a way to say ? Sorry, not an english speaker here) Running loooooo.............ooo............................oooo..
Finally a legit reaction. Most of them are overreacted... Jinjer Army is coming... if u wanna keep being amazed by them continue watching: Jinjer - Perennial Live at Wacken Jinjer - Teacher, teacher
Yes, Pablo but for some of these, you have to point out what era to listen for. I like all of the singers who have been in Nightwish at one point but I do have a favorite (for the sake of peace, I shall not name any one singer). Same for Arch Enemy. :)
If you’re wanting another Jinjer song, “Teacher, Teacher” is absolutely nuts, and I highly recommend, or “I Speak Astronomy”. Now, if we’re talking outside of Jinjer...”Ghost of Perdition” by Opeth is a solid choice. If you’re looking to head back to Metallica, and you wanna cry, “Unforgiven”.
You: very beautfull voice.... Me: Wait for it.... Tatiana Shmayluk is an amazing vocalist and lyricist. You need to check out the lyrics, very deep. There are many Pisces references in this song including mentions of fish and duality themes. The last piece, Emeralds are ripped Away, “emeralds” refers to the “fish’s” scales that are torn away . This mean something stripped away from the person; their dignity, their freedom, their happiness, leaving them empty. Also check out "I Speak Astronomy"
Most people are doing Awakening reactions, which is great, but they have so many amazing songs. The Matriarch, Time Stands Still, Tonight We Ride. They are Vancouver BC's little slice of power metal.
You need to react to Tool. There’s a tool army who will come crawling onto your page and show love unlike any other fan base in music, I’d say start with Lateralus(song)
Reactions to this song never get old. I’ve watched numerous reaction videos for this song. With that said I’m new to the channel and honestly, I prefer your approach. You don’t pause the song a million times to talk about it. You say your piece in the beginning, play the song straight through and then give your thoughts. Much better format in my opinion. Could you do a reaction for the band Tesseract? Good songs to start with would be survival, smile, King, Juno, and Of Mind-Nocturne
It was nice to see someone really try to take in the lyrics with this song. Most first-time listeners are so completely caught up in her performance that the lyrics get overlooked. Tatiana's lyricism is every bit as powerful as her singing. As much as you liked this song I think you would really enjoy Perennial. The lyrics for that song are similarly poetic.
"YoU dOnT rEaCt EnOuGh" Then gives the cutest, most genuine reaction when the heavy part hits. Do Perfection or Resist by Tesseract next Edit: Also highly recommend reacting to Karate or Megitsune by Babymetal
They are 80s metal's best-kept secret. Take Hold Of The Flame or Queen Of The Reich (it is a dystopian scifi/fantasy story) both live in Tokyo are epic too. I feel like the later has a slight edge in nearly Dimash-level vocal acrobatics but the former seems to be more popular.
That vocal technique doesn't hurt as much as it probably seems it would. Growling is done in three ways, generally. Guttural growls, where you scream at the top of your lungs. That's dangerous. The other two techniques are fry screams and false cord screams. Fry screams are inhaled, and false cord screams are from the diaphragm, iirc. I believe Tatiana uses false cord screams. She has a very natural and tensionless tone. It's not common for women to choose to growl, but most people could in theory with the right understanding of biology. Tatiana and a lady named Alissa White-Gluz from The Agonist and Arch Enemy are the most known female vocalists that use both singing and growling in their songs. It's not a requirement of metal to have that much grit, but these two are very good.
Mostly right. Fry screaming is similar to false chords in that you exhale through motionless vocal chords to get the sound. The difference, specifically, is the position of your vocal chords. In false chords, your vocal chords are sitting open, motionless. In fry screams, your vocal folds act the same, but while mostly closed. Inhale screams are a totally different thing altogether. As for Tatiana's style, she uses fry screams. You can tell by how long her phrases are (false chords take WAY more air, but are generally easier to do than fry). Also, for lack of a better term, you get "overtones" from fry screams, and not from false chords.
@@averagemetalhead2848 Bingo!! That is correct but one thing I would add is that false cord screams sound more breathy and typically lower in tone. And fry screams also need good support from you diaphragm Source: I am a vocalist
First of all, nice reaction. Then: an honnest reaction will always be way better than a fake epileptic one; be yourself. About Jinjer: you'll have a lot of people coming to see that specific reaction, because we love that. And you'll have a lot of background and suggestions; all will be good, because Jinjer don't really have bad songs. "Teacher teacher", the official video, and Perennial, both studio and live, are my favorite. Oh and, the band is Ukrainian, the singer is Tatiana Shmaylyuk, and they've been here since 2010 (I think). If I may suggest something else, as it's not suggested very often, I'd love to see you react to "the decay of disregard" by the band Oceans of Slumber :)
@@Impuritan1 Quite true... the best of Phil Anselmo... the way everybody knows he's capable of {Note 2} and the one he's totally underrated for. Phil Anselmo has one of the best voices in pure Metal ever. I wish there were more songs like Suicidal Note 1!
DEFINITELY Opeth! I can't believe you haven't yet! Amazing music, death metal, acoustic guitar, growling, beautiful singing.... It has it all! Try The Drapery Falls by Opeth, and thanks for giving metal a chance! \m/ Also Windowpane for a singing only experience, no growling.
As soon as she said that, I paused the video just to peek into the comment section for anything related to that specific wording. I knew you wouldn't disappoint me... xD
You cant go wrong with Jinjer. Their music is diverse but definitely them. Teacher Teacher Perennial Live at Wacken Bad Water Who is Going to be the One Retrospective Sit Stay Roll Over I Speak Astronomy. All very different but still Jinjer. You do your reactions when you can. No one can dictate what, when, or how you do. Have fun with the rabbit hole that is Jinjer. See you next time!!
Personally, I like how you react. Don't force anything, we'll see it. I'd like to recommend: Cemetery Gates by Pantera Take the Time or Surrounded by Dream Theater For the Love of God by Steve Vai (The one where he plays with an orchestra) if you want to see a spectacle
I, unlike you, do not read all of the comments, This has probably been said at least 10 times, but check out Perennial live at Waken. You inquired about her hurting herself, well, Perennial is the last song of their set that day and you will see how strong her voice still is. My personal favorite is Teacher, Teacher. Whatever you do next will be dope so keep that open mind and rock on!!!
Your reaction was perfect. Check out In This Moment "Forever" then follow it up with "The Gun Show". A little Arch Enemy both with Angela Gossow (2000-2013) and Alissa White-Gluz (2014-present). Lacuna Coil "Heavens a Lie" and "Our Truth" no screaming but the band has a male and female vocalist. Five Finger Death Punch "The Bleeding" (song close to me dealing with my ex-wife), from Japan the band Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (also a Johnny Depp movie title) "Let Me Hear" (song is all over the place and almost ever member of the band contributes vocally too).
Could you do The Sound of Silence by Disturbed? I know it has been reviewed a lot but I would love to hear your take on it. In my opinion i feel like this song kind of applies to the world today.
This a great choice for a review! However, you should probably know that it isn’t Disturbed’s normal sound. Their most well known song, and a metal classic, is Down With the Sickness. Giving each of them a listen at some point would be good :)
Sound of Silence is a great song. Another one would be Darkness, also by Disturbed. It's a little less dynamic than Sound of Silence but amazing none the less.
Loved your reaction ! By the way, the technical term for the "deep throat thing" is growling/screaming and it doesn't hurt unless you are doing it wrong, it takes A LOT of practice :) Enough people recommended other Jinjer songs already so here are other suggestions : UNLEASH THE ARCHERS - Awakening (Full Band Playthrough Video) at Napalm Records NIGHTWISH - Ghost Love Score (OFFICIAL LIVE) at Wacken 2013
With regard to Tatiana in real life, she's a kind, positive, humble, nerdy, almost shy person. Get to know her through her many on-line interviews if you like. How she performs is akin to a top athlete competing or an opera singer singing Wagner.
For Angela, best Nemesis video would be Live in Tokyo 2008, though as a demonstration of Angela's vocals, I'd more highly recommend We Will Rise MFVF 2010. Most requests for Nemesis I see are for the Wacken 2016 performance with Alissa White-Gluz who uses a different growling style (fry screams vs false cord growls). Alternately comparing the two versions of Nemesis is a great way to learn more about the strengths and weaknesses of different harsh vocal techniques.
On the "don't react enough" thing: I first found this channel with the Metallica reactions. My thought at the time was how those were so much better than the many "reaction" videos I've seen, because (as mentioned below) so many of the others, stop the song at points that disrupt the flow, or the reviewer talks about insignificant aspects over the most important parts of the song. We can read the reaction on your face, and and you give thoughtful and insightful comments at the end. That's the way. On the "death growl," it's a vocal technique that is good or bad depending in subjective feeling of the listener, and what they are familiar with. It is something that is both highly regarded, when done well, but also has become a metal cliche.
One thing you will find with heavy metal is that if you read the lyric's, most of these bands really have a lot of quite profound shit to say as you found out with the Metallica reactions. I would recommend you reacting to Megadeth's - Holy Wars. A powerful message but there is also a lot of history between these guys and Metallica, both bands being member's of what is metal is considered the big 4. Megadeth's Rust in peace would have to be one of the greatest and most technical album's of all time. I would also recommend Fear Factory's- Self Bias Resistor for something more political and woke. Also a very powerful message this band was ahead of their time.
@Iago I disagree. I always suggest to go for the studio version first, with very few exception (e.g. Fear of the Dark). It's usually the "purest" form of the song, and for a person just getting to know metal, it's probably the least distracting way to do so.
Agreed, but I would love to see the reaction to A Small Victory or Land Of Sunshine or Everything's Ruined, but definitely Small Victory, this was a landmark album for Faith No More imo
Ok , so you did Jinjer reaction . Kuddos. Now you have 3 left on the list of regular reactions. Nightwish - Ghost love score live version Unleash the Archers - Awakening studio live version Devin Townsend - Kingdom at Emg Keep up the good work
React to Dream theater! Like if you want this to happen 🤘 Reccemdations: -Metropolis pt 1 -the spirit carries on -the dance of eternity -the shattered fortress -the looking glass -stream of consciousness -as I am -panic attack
Yes, Dream Theater is incredible, but "Metropolis Part 1" is not a good choice for a first-time listener because it can be really off-putting to people who aren't used to it. "The Shattered Fortress" is an excellent suggestion, but I think you should begin with "Pull Me Under" -- the full 8 minute version, not the shorter radio-friendly one!
For a first time I would probably recommend Pull Me Under and As I Am. People unfamiliar with Prog need to be eased in. That's how I was. I had to listen to Inferno and Domination by Symphony X before I was ready to get into The Odyssey and Divine Wings of Tragedy.
@@Moskal91 Most people are fairly uninitiated when it comes to musicality and impressive instrumentation, and the vocals and lyrics become their focus. Something with a consistent groove and moments of technicality are what draw them into high level musicianship progressively. That's why Pull Me Under is great first song for DT. Great groove, awesome melodies, good vocals, and some moments of their progier side.
Voiceplay - This is Halloween Wicked game, Human or pretty much anything- Diana Ankudinova Sound or Silence live version from Conan O'BRIAN- Disturbed Jinger - judgement and punishment
The next song you should react to is Nightwish - "Ghost Love Score (Official Live Version)". It's a different sub-genre of metal (there's a LOT of them) called "symphonic metal", which I think you'll enjoy immensely! :)
@Ars Gzgn yeah, I know. But if you don't know that, which set of pipes would you use? The real ones. And if you lack the experience or technique to do it safely, you blow up your pipes.
Jinjer is pretty badass, been a fan for a while. If you like live videos, Jinjer has quite a few good ones on RU-vid. Also, check out Testament live. There’s a great one with D.N.R and Three Days of Darkness.
Others have already said so, but these reactions are just fine. Ignore those who say otherwise. I would go further and say that these videos are more genuine and realistic with how people listen to music. Personally, I think the whole "reaction" community is pretty oversaturated and has twisted into something that doesn't accurately reflect how we really listen to music in real life, off screen, not on video. It seems to be more-so about showcasing bombastic personalities, making contorted faces, moving a lot, and commenting on stuff that doesn't really have anything to do with the music. But anyway, you are doing great and these videos are honest and genuine. That is something that should be appreciated a lot more than manufactured "reactions."
A few suggestions, hope you give some a listen: Insomnium - While We Sleep Nevermore - Dreaming Neon Black Megadeth - Hangar 18 Voivod - Killing Technology Borknagar - Terminus
Hi, great reaction, i agree with most here, just do real. Also, if you dont like it, you dont like it :) As for a reaction song, how about : Insomnium - While we sleep or: Wintersun - Loneliness (Winter)
