You said it perfectly, Sal! 🤗 I have many songs that do that for me. I see that you have never reacted to Sorrow by Pink Floyd. That is one of those for me. Also Echoes by Floyd. I would suggest both to you. Pulse version of Sorrow is magnificent
The reason I watch these reactions is because I can’t hear these songs again for the first time, but watching someone else hearing for the first time is the next best thing.
@@nancywyatt821Awards from Rolling Stone etc don't matter. Even getting into the rock and roll hall of fame. True fans always appreciated them and will forever!!
What you will find out in time is that you can do a live Journey reaction and they will be as good if not better than the studio. You should react to the entire Houston concert 1981. The whole concert was filmed professionally and was during the Escape album tour. You will get a full taste of what Journey is; as it include songs from the Escape album and the previous 3 that included Steve Perry's wonderful voice. The concert include 14 songs along with solo's by guitarist Neil Schon, Pianist Jonathan Cain and drummer Steve Smith. Thanks and God Bless.
1000% agree. Journey Live is every bit as good or better than studio. @SalvoG…please choose “Live” version over studio anytime it’s an option. You won’t be disappointed. Guaranteed!
I play the Live in Houston concert in it's entirety or song by song ALL the time! We love it hear, would be cool to see a reaction! Edit to say I see you did some reactions! I would recommend though that you listen to "Stay with Me Awhile" from that concert, my fave vocals of Steve's.
I think what we are trying to point out, live or studio, doesn't matter, they are that good. 👍🏽 Seen them live 3 times can vouch it's true. 😁 Continue on, doesn't matter, I'll listen. Little edgier, with Neal on guitar, great song. ❤
What fans don't talk about this song, is the BASS!!!!!!!! Throughout this song, the Ross (the bass player) is killing it!! According to Steve Perry, there was a fairly popular girl; that he had a crash on. And he said that she was the kind of girl, that wouldn't give him the time of day. He said that he was at the lake one summer day, and she was there. Wearing a pair of very, very, VERY short shorts!! Where when she bent down, she showed EVERYTHING!! Thus that's where you get ...... "In the heat with a blue jean girl" Now you can react to the live version from Houston, Tx!!
Ahhh - Journey. I love Deep Purple, Zep, Sabbath and Journey. There is just something about Steve's voice and Neil's guitar - they will take you to another place. They are a special band. I'm glad you enjoyed them. Wait till you hear them live - it's just as amazing as the studio if not more so.
I've seen all 3 of your reactions to Journey, and you seem to really love what your hearing yet you keep us waiting for your next Journey reaction! Every next song, yes will send you off the rails. Steve's voice will knock you out every time! Still They Ride live from Tokyo 1983, Steve's vocal performance in this version is on another stratosphere, you don't have to show us the live version but at least listen to it because it's the best! BTW Steve had the flu at this concert, but you would never know by his performance. Other magical recommendations: Why Can't This Night Go on Forever When You Love a Woman Lights I'll Be Alright With Out You Open Arms Thank you for reacting to Journey!
80's Journey was ballad heavy. They had the greatest love songs. Steve Perry will go down as one of the best rock singers in history. But 70's Journey were rockers. Guitarist Neal Schon started off at age 15 playing in Carlos Santana's band. Try "Anyway You Want it" next. My favorite for something bluesy is "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'". Enjoy.
I think there’s also a joy in seeing a younger generation discover the music and get so much enjoyment out of it. I’m not that much older than you (I’m 40) but this was the music I was raised on. 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s music filled my childhood because it’s what my mom listened to. It’s very nostalgic for me. My mom helped me appreciate so much music that I never would have been exposed to without her.
This is the "pre-pop" Journey sound, up to Escape which incls this, - Don't Stop Believin & -Mother, Father esp live. -Of A Lifetime('75) Infinity ('78) maybe their best -Feeling That Way/ Anytime -Wheel in the Sky -La Do Da, -Winds if March Evolution('79) -Lovin Touchin Squeezin -Just The Same Way -Do You Recall Ect. Ect
You will feel every word you hear and see Steve Perry sing. He does that with every song he sings. He was and is all of that when he sings. That is why his voice and the music this band made together has stood the test of time. It’s that amazing and it’s timeless.
Saw them on this tour. I can attest to the fact, there's really no great difference between studio & live. With live you'll get a bit more. Same overall sound.
Please respond to the LIVE version of Mother Father 1981 Escape tour, live in Houston. A-MAZING!!!! Remember this is LIVE and no auto-tune. That wasn't around then.
I grew up on this. Music is very important to me. I’m glad you’re getting it. Emotional for sure. Music speaks to me soul. Rock and blues especially. Elvis and Journey both included melody to rock n roll. ✌️
dude! you're missing out, react to journey on The midnight special from the early seventies it's freaking incredible to see them perform at their peak, react to the live ones from midnight special when founding member Gregg Rolie was with them, him and Perry sounds great together
Journey was fire 🔥 on the midnight special. There is a hidden gem from that show. Journey Roadrunner 1979 on RU-vid. Journey jams with Herbie Hancock and "friends" as Neal Schon puts it. Neal and Herbie have a great "duel" and see a whole different side of Steve Perry's voice. Total 🔥
You should really check out Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin' by Journey.... it will have you singing along for sure... especially if you listen to the live version.
First! Helene here. Hi Sal! Steve Perry’s voice is just magnificent, isn’t it. Because Journey is considered pop/rock, I don’t think Perry gets enough cred when lists of best rock singers are discussed. Plant is my all-time fave, but Perry can just effortlessly soar…beautiful.
So glad you've heard this now. It is definitely underrated. Sometime, put the title track from this album, Escape,on your list, it's got some great change-ups you would enjoy, and is also another underrated great from this album. Thanks for this one!
Neal Schon was on tour playing with Santana at the age of 15. Ironically the band actually didn't want Steve Perry as their singer initially but their manager at the time basically told them he is your singer so get use to it. The rest is history. Great song and great reaction to this rock staple.
If you want to experience the real Journey then you have to hear them live. They are the best live band I have ever heard. Watch the video Mother Father from the Live in Houston 1981 Escape Tour. You will be mesmerized with Steve Perry's voice. This is goose bump stuff. Thanks
If you keep going down the Journey rabbit hole, you will discover they have a variety of sounds: mainstream rock, hard rock, pop rock, blues rock, jazz fusion, psychedelic, R&B rock, metal; even some Latino, reggae, and African. They also have some instrumentals. Tell me what styles you want to hear and I will give you the song titles.
Journey was huge back in my day, alot of good memories, after Steve Perry left the group it was never the same. I do remember loving "Girl can't help it", give it a listen...
Take it to their next level of power! Separate Ways! Save the many power ballads and smooth rockers for later. If you liked Stone In Love, get ready to blow your mind with Separate Ways!
New sub here. You had me at hello!!! LOL. Became a fan based on your reactions to Journey! Looking forward to visiting your other reactions! I was fortunate enough to see Journey live in Ft. Worth, Tx from the front row! I still have a crush on Steve Perry and I'm 64 years old. Journey had it all. First song I heard was "lovin, touchin, squeezein". Appreciate your comments especially at the end. Awesome job!!!
I found myself dancing to this one while enjoying the amazing vocals, the rhythm and excellent guitar work. I'm so GLAD I got to see them live for that album!!
Live Journey... Girl Can't Help It! In my opinion humbly. Raised on Radio was their last good LP. Great Reactions Brother! I'll be subscribing right now! I like your vibe a lot. Blessings to you & your channel!
You have to hear the studio versions of: Why can't this night last forever Girl can't help it Send her my love These songs are some of their best but yet underrated as not too many reactions out there for them.
They started as a rock fusion band on their first three albums with Greg Rolie (formerly with Santana) on vocals and keys. Then they hired Steve Perry and went in a more mainstream direction. The two singers were in the band together for three more albums, and that's probably my favorite period of Journey, but this song is one of my favorites. "Feeling That Way/Anytime" is a good example of them sharing vocals. They are two songs, but are always played together on rock radio, just like Queen's "We Will Rock You/We Are the Champions". "Just the Same Way" is another good one with both singers.
And " we've only just begun." Is a famous Carpenters song. "Don't stop believing" by journy is the last thing you hear in the final episode of The Sapranos. If I remember correctly, they got softer after this album. Journy was very popular with the ladies.
Great reaction! Other awesome Journey songs are "Lights" and "Open Arms" (their biggest hit, with 6 weeks at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart) and "Lovin, Touchin, Squeezin" and "Who's Crying Now?"(The studio recordings and/or official music videos always sound better than the live version, although Steve Perry sounds amazing live, too).
I have to admit I've not heard this song before. I thought it was going to be a cover of 'Stone In Love with You,' from the '60s. I *think* that one was by the Stylistics? Boy, was I ever wrong!
Love Journey. After leaving the band Steve Perry did a song with Kenny Loggins called Don't Fight It. May want to give it a listen. When your ready for a new band consider REO Speedwagon .. Roll With The Changes! 🤘💞
this was my first concert in high school. It was a few days in front or back of that show. On the floor with a girl on my shoulders for a while. Welcome to REAL music. REAL musicians with NO AUTOTUNE computer crap. MOTHER FATHER shows Steve's HIGH range at the end. Any Way You Want It. The guitarist played with Santana when he was 15-16.
Sigh...a lot of joints were rolled to Journey songs back in my misspent youth. A lot of critics hated Journey and derisively called them "Formula Rock", but the formula worked---great lyrics, immaculate vocals and guitar work that was out of this world. It was hard to beat Journey back in the day!
You would really like "Any Way You Want It" it's as good & hard rock'n as "Stone In Love". I recommend "Why Can't This Night Go on Forever" official video and "Still They Ride" beautiful, emotive vocals as only Steve can frome the live from Tokyo 1983 concert.⭐✨💖🎶❤️
