This is one of the amazing things about mariah. She reveres the legends and takes a step back when performing with someone that she idolizes, and when she is the idol and bigger voice on stage she is careful to blend with the other person and not completely out sing and blow them out of the water. She is always respectful of the other singer, and has the musicality to always make it sound right.

aretha MOTHERED the heck outta her performances in this concert, and mariah slayyed and held her own, choosing to really respect a legend in her midst, the queen of soul. mimi was like, "imma wait for ms franklin to tell me when i can sing"

"All hail the Queen of Soul!" Fun fact: after personally requesting to duet ONLY with Mariah, Aretha wanted to sing Dreamlover but MC said "no lets do one of yours" - since Aretha was the one being honored that night at this very first Vh1 Divas Live charity concert. This was Arethas night and you can really tell how much fun shes having (singing circles around everybody). "Shall we start the party?🎉" "Dont u go no where!" Re Re was Mimi's idol and you could feel the impromptu reverence in this performance. ❤🎉😊

There is a small clip of Mariah signing hopelessly devoted to you with Olivia Newton John. Although it's not the whole song (hopefully we get the whole thing once day) it's another special moment for Mariah singing with someone she admires.

So this is actually dubbed for audio quality reasons, the undubbed is on RU-vid and sounds practically the same the main difference other than the audio and video quality is Mariah especially sounds a bit muffled so her voice IS more powerful in the undubbed video, not sure why they did that in the dubbed.

You'll notice whenever Mariah's onstage with a legend whether it's Patti, Aretha, Luther, etc.. - Mariah will NOT sing until she is cued by that legend to do so. She's very respectful. When she sings with her own peer group - it's just a lot of eye contact and playing off one another.
