Jooheon actually said, that while producing Rush Hour he was aiming to bring back that old school energetic mx vibe from their debut times and combine it with their more mature and grownup feel from now!!!! And I think he did absolutely INCREDIBLE!!!!! This song is sooo powerful and energetic and just so MONSTA X! I love that we got so many rap parts and the vocal line is also absolutely slaying it! Can’t wait for you to listen to the rest of the album, because it’s truly a masterpiece 🧡

Fun Fact: at 16:56 the gesture Jooheon did when he said "Eat This" was inspired by the famous meme of Shownu on a fansigning event when he recommended Lamb Skewer as menu for dinner to Monbebe! 😊😊😊

Yes, I agree with you. It is the combination of their old and present style. Kihyun did well in pre-chorus and their energy is powerful enough to cover Shownu gap. Both the vocalist and rappers did so well.

the thing you said about how it sounds like "old school monsta x" is def understandable, cus it's intentional. Jooheon said he produced the track that way and i think he did a REALLY good job at it. When i first heard it i also felt like it was familiar too, despite sounding very different from their older tracks. and yes, you're right, monsta x is a power bank, they're just really powerful artists ugh (also "eat this" wtf)

I think the longer rap verses from the rap line made me a lil distracted from Shownu's hiatus of presences and it kinda worked! Though I still miss him and I just know he would've ate this comeback! Also did you notice they used the same van from Gambler MV in the beginning of Rush Hour MV

Monsta X is so amazing

This is such a bop, but they definitely brought an old school vibe, but it shows so much their maturity in this. I'm so proud of my boys for that. And the album is suuuuuuuch a bop, Mercy destroyed me. Hyungwon did it again.

This song really references the aggressiveness of their earlier releases but mixed in with the confidence, maturity, slickness, and grit that they have showcased in their newer previous releases. So it sounds like “old-school” Monsta X but also the next level MX. At least that’s how I feel about it. As a Shownu bias, I miss him here and there is that sad twinge of not seeing him but the way they all stepped up in this album, specifically Minhyuk and Hyungwon with their vocals, the blank space Shownu has temporarily vacated is filled with talent and love, and so my heart is still full ❤️. I am so proud of them and I am sure Shownu is proud of his kids too. I can’t wait to check out your album listen! I think you will love Mercy, Wonnie has created another gem 💎. My personal favorite is Ride with U, Mercy, and I Got Love but really it’s another no skip album from the Monstas 🔥 🔥 🔥.

They combined their og sound with the more recent vibe and it sounds so good! + b sides .... Hyungwon produced and wrote on of their hest B sides Mercy ! And I.M made Just love and it sounds so him I was looe I must be him making it the breathy R&b sound [ Side note the Medley for SF9 dropped]

Thanks for this! I felt this whole reaction. I am loving how you lose it when they say "eat this" lol. Yes, "Rush Hour" does have an old school feel. I recall someone else saying it was like an evolved form of their older music. "Rush" is a good reference. Personally, it reminded me of their slightly more recent Japanese release "Spotlight." They don't sound the same but it is more the feel with the pounding drums, driving synths (replaced by guitar here), the way the song starts hard and mellows for the pre-chorus. The hook in the chorus "rush hour hour" reminds me of "spotlight spotlight." I agree that the five of them killed this. And Joohoney is just phenomenal. Shownu can be proud.

I really enjoyed this song--I think this may be my favorite MonstaX song to date. I have been out of the loop, and don't know what happened to Shownu? Random comments: 1) I'm not a fan of mullets in Kpop; 2) does anyone else think that I.M and Ateez's San look like twins?

YES!!! I know exactly what you mean, it feels very much like a song they would have released back in the jealousy and shoot out era but with a more mature feel. I love their more recent songs but shoot out was the song that got me into monsta x and this song gives me a lot of similar feelings even though they sound very different.

Damn I cannot keep forgetting about this masterpiece of a song. It’s about due for a resurgence.

I love this, undoubtedly a banger, Jooheon and MX did it again! Possibly one of my favourite title tracks! Yeah their songs, especially tt give so much energy, can't imagine in a concert. For me Minhyuk's voice really shined in this song, rap line killed it tho ("eat this" really????) and obviously everyone did so great, of course we miss Shownu but I get what you're saying, these members are all so talented that a song doesn't feel less good.
