The 90's was pure gold! So many different types of genres and an insane amount of one hit wonders

Canada was fairly well represented with Celine Dion, Bryan Adams, and Shania Twain. But I was shocked to not see any Alanis Morissette as she did have the biggest selling album of the 90’s with at least 5 hits from that “Jagged Little Pill” album.

That's REAL music your listening to. Better than today's garbage.

I'm really impressed with your 90s knowledge, and yes, Patrice Rushen's "Forget Me Nots" is a classic banger. She's an uber talented musician, singer, and (I believe) composer.

"Don't Speak" by "No Doubt" was released on album in October 1995, as single April 1996. It went to number 1 in March 1997.

Child of the 60's and 70's, amazing how many covers of 60's and 70' music there were in the 90's. Counted about 6 or 7. might have been more.

March 1993 was amazing, with Ordinary World by Duran Duran.

I was born in 87 and remember 90s music very fondly. This was before the internet was really a big thing for entertainment so all I had in my room for entertainment was my parents old record player, their records and a radio. More videos like this please, so many forgotten memories come back when you hear particular songs. 👍

Looking back it was such a rich decade. The remnants of disco and real emergence of the club scene. Power ballads, techno, hip hop, reggae, international influences, it had it all. The real age of the music video. Great trip down memory lane.

Well, I was in my early twenties when the nineties started, and I never realized how detached from mainstream music I really was...sorta knew some of the songs, I was so entrenched in Tool, NIN, Ministry, KMFDM, Danzig, Type O Neg., etc., I guess I didn't listen to the radio much😊This was really great...

3:37 - Poor Extreme, they'll forever be known for a song that doesn't represent their sound at all. If I had to describe the 90's Tops it'd be this: Eurodance, movie OSTs, boys bands, girls bands, R 'n B, Hip-Hop, Michael Jackson and Mariah Carey.

I was growing up in the 90s, but getting past the nostalgia, I think it was the decade when things started to go bad for the standard radio music. Quite a few songs from this compilation sound like white noise to me.

For the record, "I Will Always Love You" dates back to 1974 and was written by the country singer Dolly Parton.

Hmmm... I would have thought that "Firestarter" and "Black Hole Sun" were popular songs, that Nirvana and Pearl Jam would have represented more, Smashing Pumpkins might have made the cut one month, and RHCP would have shown up more than once.

What amazes me watching this is how the vast majority of this music wasn't what I or anyone I knew was actually listening to in the '90s... there are like half a dozen songs in here that were actually played on the radio stations I listened to or in the places I was spending time...

I was born in 1980. The 90s were when I was a teenager. We were spoiled rotten by the music industry. the 90s were the last good decade for music. We had Peak Celine, Peak Whitney, Peak Mariah, and Peak MJ, not to mention the myriad others.

Ah. My decade. ^^ Not all my favourite music but definitely the decade of music I grew up with. I was actually the "weird kid" who was obsessed with Wet Wet Wet and would sing their songs to myself. Made me very unpopular as they were seen more as the band your mother would be into. Interesting that "Baby One More Time" hit the peak of its popularity in '99 when the single was actually released in '98. It's the album that was released in '99. I guess even then touring helped promote the music.

Do yourself a favor and listen the the very first song on the list: Phil Collins "Another Day in Paradise" And been loving these "throughbacks" you've been doing very fun.

MC Hammer used Rick James' bassline from "Super Freak." And "Vanilla Ice" stole the Bassline from Queen's ( with Bowie ) "Under Pressure" - he got sued and Queen won.

The 90's had possibly the biggest change in sound out of all the decades. The early years was still predominantly American (alt & glam) rock and pop which was so recognizable from the 80's to something more diverse, obviously influenced by other genres and even cultures as well. House music came around, dance came around, Europop, latin sounds and mostly RnB and rap and then all the boybands not to forget and the bpm went up compared to the early 90s. It weren't just American/UK artists anymore.

90s are pretty unique. The beginning still has that 80s flavour, but then there is kind of big split between US and Europe. rap shows in pop industry, there are still big hmm rock bands, ballads, while europe completely starts to dominate whole world with euro dance so hard that american music industry started to think how to retake that (because the were literally losing money, monopoly). In Europe Viva channel was the NEW thing, that popularized dance, euro dance, techno, trance (and of course big pop bangers). As teenagers in europe we still watched MTV but compared to music Viva aired it felt hmm old / established / older generation (rap, rock). Viva was that first choice of new, trendy music, while MTV lost it, because they ignored the trend and kind of pretend ed that whole world is still Into rap, "rock". Some songs very popular in Europe werent even play at all. I guess it was the only decade where that split between us and europe music industry was big (especially compared to globalisation in next decades). From today perspective, it was very rich decade with big bands, boys bands, rock, rap, pop, euro dance, techno

Love Celine Dion, i had a crush on her back then, she recently released the 4K version of My Heart Will Go On, totally recommend the movie, of course, but my favorite song is "It's All Coming Back"❤ Another Canadian singers i recognize in this set and love them of course, Bryan Adams, Shania Twain, Snow (Informer is the only song i know lol), and if there's anyone more please point it out and apologize. As with the other ones, at the beginning, the previous decade hadn't actually ended yet. * I take that back. Based on this video, the 90s I experienced didn't actually happen. There were about three songs in there that belonged to my 90s.

Another solid review, Verdy! To me, this decade's "Most Popular" list as a whole is noticeably less iconic than the '70s and '80s ones had been and somehow, with some exceptions, it all became less memorable and more bland as it went on. But then I'm a teen of the '80s so maybe I'm biased... 😊
