Okay, I am totally into the concept of this group but I have so many questions about PLAVE. Why did they create an animated group? Are there humans behind each of these avatars - have we ever seen them? Do they create all kinds of promo content just like other k-pop groups? IT'S SO COOL!!! But seriously, fill me in! lol

They're actually real people 😅 they are just wearing motion capture suits that's why when the person behind the character moves, the character we are seeing also moves. Basically they are real korean idols presenting themselves as characters. If you watch their live streams, you can sometimes see them fixing their mocap suits, drinking water, etc. 😅 Also, Plave members compose their own songs and choreograph their own dances. They are a very talented group! You need to check out more of their stuff 💙💜💗❤️🖤

Member info: Yejun 💙🐬 - leader, main vocal, producer Noah 💜🦙 - lead vocal, producer Bamby 💗🦌 - main dancer, vocal, choreographer Eunho ❤️🐺 - main rapper, vocal, producer Hamin 🖤🐈‍⬛ - main dancer, lead rapper, maknae They made their debut on 12th March 2023. Plave has 3 official music videos as of right now. The sixth summer is the only one that's animated. Wait for you (debut) and way 4 luv (latest comback) were filmed using their avatars. Way 4 luv took 5 days to film. It was also the song that got them their first win. The members were screaming and crying when they found out. The people singing/rapping are the same people dancing as well. The dancing is not animated. Plave has some lore. It's not necessary to understand it but imo, it's fun to get into. No, plave is not a band band. Some of the members do know how to play instruments but when performing, they sing and dance. There are some exceptions though. During their fancon, yejun played the piano and hamin had some fighting choreography. Vlast (plave's company) is not an entertainment company. They are a tech company that focuses on game engine, vr/vfx, & animation. They used unreal engine software with their own mocap tech in order to create plave. It was hard for them to get into contact with agencies, record labels and shows. They were consistently rejected. They also reached out to famous songwriters and choreographers but no one would take them seriously since they were a start up. The songwriter gave them a b tier song and the choreographer, despite being paid 10 million won, gave them choreography that looks like it was made for a children's song. Due to this, the members decided to just write the song and do the choreography themselves. Now that plave are more popular, the ceo has revealed that there are many people offering them songs, advertisements and show appearances etc. However, the members have decided to reject any offered songs because they want to continue producing their own music. As mentioned in the comments, the true identities of virtual idols are typically never revealed. In plave's case, legal action will be taken. Since all of the songs are self produced, they sometimes include references to their livestreams. The references are also reflected in their choreography. Fun fact! Bamby and hamin choreographed their entire fancon. Plave usually does livestreams twice every week. Their company is building an ar studio and plan to invite other artists to do a talk/variety show. Plave might also be getting webtoons and animations etc. They are also expected to have another concert in autumn. Feel free to ask if you have any more questions or need clarification on anything!

First and foremost, they are not AI. From what I understand, based on the videos I've watched of Vlast's conferences with limited translations and my limited knowledge of tech, Vlast, a tech startup company with really amazing motion capture and virtual technology (and I think they make use of unreal engine), decided to expand their field by venturing into something new and they decided to combine two of the most popular korean cultures - kpop and webtoons. Instead of creating real 3d characters like other virtual groups, they decided to go the 2d and more korean manhwa looks. And they decided that human touch is important, thus they recruited actual musicians (and basically let them have free range when it come to interacting with fans so that the fans can connect with the actual humans behind the avatars). They looked for songs from producers and hired choreographer but the five members realised that they were not being given good quality songs or choreographies, thus the five members decided to produce their own music and choreograph their own dances (3 producers, song writers - Blue, blonde and white hair and 2 choreographers - pink and black hair ). So they are self produced group. All five members definitely have some experience in idol industry, and a few good years of training because they have very good control on their vocals and they seem to be very knowledgeable about and have good techniques - especially Yejun - (based on when they talk about their producing process and the way they help 2 dance members with some vocal stuff). All of them have good vocals (even the rappers). Also, Vlast was not expecting success or profits for Plave for at least 2 years. So, I'm sure Plave's rapidly growing popularity is a pleasant surprise for them.

OMG you're Khadija from RiVerse!! I'm sorry I can't believe i just discovered you have your own channel 💜😭I'm so glad you reacted to PLAVE! Thank u. This group is quite special. I will really try to make this comment not too long 😂 As most comments already explained, they're a self.produced group in terms of music&choreo. These 5 members are real singers&dancers who work anonymously and communicate only virtually for personal reasons (like privacy or a second chance to fulfill their dreams). They're represented in different art-styles (they opted for a design reminiscent of manhwa characters), and most of their content is in 3D animation, though only the members are not traditionally animated and are instead designed in 3D and then their bodies and expressions-with the help of motion capture suits/vests-are tracked in real time. They officially debuted in 2023 as a virtual kpop group, but they had already started doing fun live streams as "vtubers" in 2022. Their live streams feel like animated shows where they do activities such as karaoke, musical nights, singing/dance lessons, workouts, games, etc. I wouldn't call them a band, though most of the members do play instruments and their pop rock music is very reminiscent of k-bands. Only the visual part and everything else is in charge the tech startup they work with. PLAVE started when a small group of animation/game tech experts, who used to work for other companies, decided to start their own journey and formed this startup called Vlast. They won an ideas contest organized by MBC, and were able to get funding to start the project of a virtual-only group that could communicate in real time with mocap tech. But this project involved music and they weren't a music company, so at first they hired a composer and a choreographer. They didn't hold auditions to find the group members since they had no experience in that, nor could they provide training to them. Instead they somehow got in contact with a singer, Yejun (PLAVE's leader), who was the first to want to join and be the first member of PLAVE. Then Yejun himself was the one who invited his close friends Noah and Eunho to join him. Eunho then invited his friend Bamby, and Noah begged his friend Hamin to join, who was reluctant at first but ended up loving the project. At first the members weren't going to be involved in the creation of songs and choreo. However, both the composer and choreographer hired were apparently not taking the project as seriously, and were proposing songs and "childish" dances the members didn't like. So Yejun, Noah and Eunho, who already had experience as music producers, told Vlast they would want to try making the songs themselves and Vlast agreed. After that they were about to focus only on vocals/music production and give up on being a dance group as well, however, Bamby insisted they should dance too, so he and Hamin, who are dancers, ended up being in charge of creating the choreographies. This is why they're most likely all former idols, bc they clearly have experience and contacts in the field. The reason they're so loved is bc of the creative freedom they have over their music and concepts, and also bc of how funny, "realistic" and transparent they are within a concept that could be considered very fake/fictional and non-transparent: Despite being anonymous, they share a lot about their lives and how they create songs/dances (I highly suggest checking out the channel "virtual npc" bc they have a compilation of moments where they talk about their creative process of music and choreo. That channel also has a long but very good updated guide about them). Also, they don't act as characters, because they aren't actors. Instead, they do smth similar to role-playing, just like when you enter a videogame and pretend you're a character in another world but your personality remains intact. It's like a playful concept were both members and fans decide they will pretend for 2 hours they are living in this other reality. But it's nothing very serious/strict. In fact, the times they go out of character are so frequent, they always end up laughing at themselves lmao. In short, PLAVE works as a platform where both designers and musicians can showcase their art/music 💜 If you want to know anything else, feel free to ask.

OMG A PLAVE REACTION FROM KHADIJA, yes they are real people and they choreograph their own stuff and even produce and write their stuff as well, and before you ask, it’s like the concept of vtubers so they do livestreams weekly and we don’t speculate/know who is behind them as to respect the boys behind them

Hello!! So Plave is a virtual idol but there are REAL people behind that produce, sing AND make the choreography of their own songs. The 6th summer is specific was make into an animated video BUT they have MVs that are made BY THEM using their mocap suits (like the ones the actors use on avatar to make the movie). So the voices are real, the movements are real AND THEY EACH are the same person (it’s not like x person sings and some others dance, each real person behind has a “character” so there are 5 members. Vlast (the company they are under) is a TECH company not an idol company so they take care of the technology but ALL about the producing, making, writing, singing and dancing is MADE BY THE MEMBERS THEMSELVES. If u still interested there are some guides online about how they work:) ALSO the company takes their privacy seriously and takes legal actions when spreading information about the real person behind so fans take their privacy serious and DO NOT spread info about them:)

“Why did they create an animated group?” PLAVE members were fomerly in the industry (trainees or otherwise) and Yejun, the leader, got the idea for the group and called up two of his friends who then called their friends. They are under Vlast which is a tech company so they are advertising Vlast’s mocap tech in exchange for their debut. The 3D models allow them to have a normal life outside of their job as idols. “Are there humans behind each of there avatars” Yes! “Have we ever seen them?” Nope! "Do they create all kinds of promo content like other kpop groups?” Yep! You can see it all on their social media, they also do livestreams.

There are REAL people behind them that also write, produce and choreograph their stuff. They do live streams two times a week that's where the funny moments compilation are from. I think most of the members do play instruments (If I'm not wrong). I suggest you react to their song "WAY 4 LUV" and the mini album "ASTERUM: 143-1" (preferably the live highlight of the album). They definitely are my ult group and all their songs are bangers, plus they have amazing covers too. Anyways thank you for the reaction😊💙💜💗❤️🖤

Each one of them are real people, and while this music video is 2D animated, they usually use motion capture. Each member contributes to the group musically, composing all their own songs and choreographing all their dances, while their company takes care of the technology and animation that makes their whole virtual world possible. They also live stream twice a week in their mocap, so they've got lots and lots of content.

I highly recommend watching The Plave Guide by Papy Plave! It's really good and explains a lot! But I can try to answer a bit. Why did they create an animated group? Are there humans behind each of these avatars: Not sure, but probably for privacy and just for a different concept. Have we ever seen them? Not officially and it's illegal to seek them out. Do they create all kinds of promo content just like other k-pop groups? Yes they do! They do promos, fan calls, they even had a fanconcert not long ago! The dances aren't animated, those are motion capture by the actual members themselves and in real time:) It feels real because it is real.

So basically they are like v-tubers, they are real people wearing motion capture suits. So when we see them they are actually there dancing, singing, etc. we just see them as avatars that follow their movements. They even do fun livestreams and interact with viewers. The technology is super cool. They are super talented and have the most cute and fun personalities, I would love to see you react to some variety content like compilations of moments from their live streams. Also, as far as I know they don’t have any super hard hip hop choreo but they have more poppy stuff and they do covers, so there is a variety of styles we can see from them 💜👍🏿☺️

they're not animated after they take their videos, so how they work is their motion capture suit they wear translate their movement REAL TIME to their virtual avatars that's why they can do livestreams and perform live etc and that's why they have so many compilation bc it's translate their movement real time :)
@mahogara
@mahogara 2 месяца назад
Just leaving a new comment because my first one was pretty long already. When you said why would they animate someone who doesn't dance well....hahah you've gotta see Eunho (the white hair one) dancing. He is not a bad dancer per se, he is just slow at picking up the dances. His rover dance is basically a meme now. They wear some markers and equipment when they are singing, dancing and on live, so that their movements are captured and then animated on their avatars. Think of the motioncaptures you see in films and games where there are actual human being wearing a suits and doing things in a studio in front of a greenscreen. Or vtubers.

To answer your questions: *Q: What are they?* They are real people! They just have "animated avatars" representing them visually. Their characters are all kinda based on how they are as real people. *Q: How much do they contribute?* They make their own music, come up with their own choreography and even stream live on youtube (like vtubers) to connect with fans. (- hence the funny moments, because they're actually hilarious.) *Q: How do they dance?* They dance with motion suits on, while a movement capturer translates their dancemoves (similar to how "Just Dance" the Wii game operates!). Wich means they practiced just as hard as any other trainee. *Sidenote:* I also personally think that the overall concept, of real people behind a virtual character, could be an amazing alternative for creatives to still keep on living their normal lives! Moreover, having no direct judgment of their face, body or other things related, could keep things alot healthier for the idols. They are all so genuinely talented and entertaining, that they've quickly become one of my ults. ✨ We just get pure talent and personality, wich i think is amazing! ☺ More PLAVE please! ❤

This is such a cool concept! I think your last point about this creating space for the idols to have a healthier relationship with their job is a really important part, too!!! Like they get to create music and perform and interact with fans, without necessarily having all that unhealthy, toxic stuff attached to it.

I think the issue with calling them AI has less to do with the word and more to do with the dehumanization that soon follows it. People don’t treat them like any other human because they don’t see them as such and that’s where the problem lies.
