I'm not knocking the fact if what Unc is saying about Barry being who he was in college, being from Detroit (born and raised) but not being old enough to understand, I get it. But Reggie at USC was DIFFERENT. He was the face of a collegiate institution (at a time where college players weren't really supposed to be superstars) and played for one of the most hated schools in the country. There is a reason after he left and the NCAA dropped the hammer on USC the way they did (it wasn't even proven Reggie did anything wrong) it wasn't to deter other schools or players, it was to send USC a message alone that they were not bigger than college football. One of the people on the committee who drummed up USCs punishment was found to be paying players himself! Reggie was so electric at USC that the NCAA themselves conspired to cripple them, to stop it from happening again. Reggie gets my vote for best college player ever. But I'm not mad if someone has a different pick.

Having had the opportunity to be on the field for all of Barry's yards, I'm here to let you know that the man was special. I blocked for Barry and Thurman. What people don't seem to realize is that Barry's numbers in 1988 will most likely never be repeated. He could have eclipsed 3000 yards rushing during the season if he was a greedy guy. Games that we played against teams like Kansas and K State he had over 200 yards by half. He would tell the coaches to let the other backs play pulling himself from the game. Thurman was that guy, Barry was the MAN. Love the Show Unc and Ocho! Keep it coming!
