They also broke 12 years old' Backstreet Boy record on Oricon with Heng:garae. Again, they're the first KPOP boygroup who did that.

But you are indeed right, both the Korean and Japanese versions of Happy ending are phenomenal, but given that I listened to the Japanese version first it has a special place in my heart and just really does hit different everytime I hear it💕 Also I keep forgetting DK is amongst one of the tall members, the same way I see Wonwoo as a tiny bean but he's actually like the 3rd tallest member after Mingyu and Jun. We love our tall boys, and well all the boys in general, they're all taller than me😅💙

I'm so happy you finally watched this! Now you're caught up with their Japanese title tracks~❤️ I really love both Call Call Call and Happy Ending. Both have different vibes and tension but they both sound amazing in their own way. And can Seventeen ever disappoint us? No, never. They always deliver, as usual. Call Call Call is a hype song, the one I used to always go to just to start my day off in energy. It has such a J-Rock sound, which I sometimes listen to since way before I discovered Seventeen, so that alone already hits my heart in a different way. But also the song itself is great, the vocals, the rapping, the instrumentals. That seka seka part at the beginning from Cheol is iconic, but also I love Mingyu's and Minghao's parts in the bridge. They bring the tension down there from the energetic chorus, it's just like a breather for us (but not with the visuals in the MV haha). Oh, and yes, the choreo is literally a cardio lol. It's like not the most complicated, but it's one of their most exhausting choreo to do. The one where they jump into a formation on one leg? Oof, that burns my thighs. Happy Ending is a tone down from Call Call Call. I love it for that when it came out, it's like a different side from them in their Japanese songs. It still has a J-Pop sound to it but also mixed with Seventeen's sound, idk how to explain it but you know the sound they always have in all their songs. I fell for it already right from the guitar part at the beginning, it's just so my style. And yeah, I do see what you say with the choreo for it leaning more towards the fluid side (also yes, Fallin Flower is just a whole other level of fluidity). It suits the song. That part where Minghao opens a book, the lyric says "This story is about me protecting you". It literally talks about a story and they linked it with a book, I just love every time they link the choreo to the lyrics. Also, I was extremely happy for Jun when this song came out. He gets so many lines here. I can appreciate his voice more through this song and he also gets to shine through the center part. It's what he deserves! Oh, one last thing about Seventeen's Japanese songs. Their pronunciation is really great for a K-Pop artist. In Call Call Call, it's already really good, but they keep on improving more and more as time goes. I'm not a native nor am I fluent yet, I only understand Japanese a little bit. So even for me to be able to understand their songs on first listen is amazing. This has been happening to me from their Happy Ending release (for Call Call Call, it's also really good already as I said, but there are still parts that I had to listen to several times to catch the words). Their pronunciation is so clear despite still having an accent sometimes, which they've been adapting to the Japanese words and sound more now and start to say those words without as much accent on it as before. Idk, I just wanna mention that cause I'm so proud on how hard they've worked and studied for it and how much they've improved (and still continue to improve even until now).💖💙

I don't think it's a question of which version is 'superior', as it is still technically the same song. I tend to prefer the original versions over translations though, so for example, Happy Ending Jap > Kor, and Oh My Kor > CHN, My I CHN > Kor (though those two go together in a beautiful contrast and I love them so much). I guess it's because it feels like part of the song's essence is lost during translations, the phrasing and the words used sometimes don't match perfectly, so you can sort of feel the difference.

That minghao part when he's like opening the book. The lyrics are "kono monogatari wa" and 'monogatari' means 'story' (Someone pls correct me if i'm wrong) so it's basically make sense. Svt choreo always tells something about the lyric in the song and that makes their choreos unique I guess :"") anyway thx for the reaction!! (lately I'm whipped for minghao too haha)

Regarding Japanese copyright, I'm guessing you haven't gotten a strike yet for a Seventeen jp mv since they are technically an indie group in Japan, they haven't signed to a major Japanese label and those companies are the most trigger happy in handing out copyright strikes. I'd say Seventeen's appearances on Japanese TV will get you a strike since those are copyrighted content as well. But that's just my observation, I'm also seeing a relaxing on strikes on Japanese music in general, but hey maybe they'll pick it up and strike everyone again, I suppose, who knows.
