[Reaction To] SKZ REPLAY -  

I've only been a Stay for a few months now, and I never imagined how much Stray Kids would mean to me. The first time I heard this song, I burst into tears at the "I will never make you lonely" line because since I've started watching/listening to them is the first time I haven't felt constantly lonely and alone in like, years.

"I'll cherish the happiness you gave me" is probably one of my favourite lyrics ever

Though he didn't write this alone, Hyunjin is responsible for much of this song. They've never been allowed to directly speak about his unjustified hiatus, but he made it clear through carefully phrased bubble posts and whatnot that he wrote a lot of this during that period. He couldn't respond or in any way interact online or in public, but after he returned, he similarly made it known that he had been reading and taking comfort in the nonstop love and support STAYs were posting and sending throughout that entire span of neverending, agonizing months. So this video is a collection of highlights from throughout 2021 (one of my favorites is their speechless shock and delight when they charted for the first time [that's when they're all sitting around staring at their phones, and then they freak out]). But the sentiment and lyrics were kicked off by a young artist who was spending months as a pariah, loudly and widely decried as a bully by thousands of strangers (who were themselves egregious bullies, continuing to this day), isolated from interaction with one of his support systems (STAY) and only interacting in secret with another (SKZ -- we know from comments made long after the fact that he was indeed spending time at the dorm, even watching episodes of Kingdom with the members when they aired, which had to hurt), in limbo with the months-long fear that his hard-won career was over at age 21 due to falsehoods and self-righteous purity posturing. It's a beautiful, emotional, moving song even for people who weren't around at the time. For many of us who went through that period of uncertainty and fear (because, yeah, we were _very_ worried about his mental health and well-being, career be damned), it was nearly devastating. I completely broke when I first heard this and when he made his veiled comments on bubble. It was as much of an emotional hit as was the out-of-the-blue drop of "OH" months earlier, when the entire fandom suddenly saw him for the first time in months and realized he was 1) back and 2) at least somewhat ok.

Hyunjin is the LoveStay boy he used it as his caption after their Unveil Manila concert in 2019 to it being the name of their 1st fanmeeting and finally #LoveSTAY being the title of a song he composed and wrote. ❤

hyunjin is the one starting the song the summer day most likely refers to when stay got the fandom name, august 1st i remember when this song came out i cried so much because i had never imagined a love so strong. stay's bond with skz is truly one of a kind

I love the look on your face when Felix started singing, that’s STILL how I am every time I hear it! As soon as he starts is when I instantly start to tear up every time. And Hyunjin ending it as well, our LoveSTAY boy and the emotion in his voice just gets to me!

the seasonal aspects of the lyrics is a special soft spot of mine. they're saying they, or us, or even the relationship between SKZ and STAY will be the best parts of our worst seasons. even in the depths of winter, we will be your warm autumn hug. even in the sweltering summer days, we will be the freshest breeze. we will stay with you through your ups and downs, just like you have stayed with us. when your dark times become longer than expected, we'll be right by your side. you've been the sun in our most shadowed days, so let us do the same for you. just beautiful

I still cry while hearing this song 💕 the love SKZ has for stay, and vice-versa is just beautiful. Never in my life have I experienced a love like this. It may be parasocial, but the love is there, and no one can deny they really really love us all 😭💕 I'm so happy being part of this big family Chan created ❤

Glad youre back again!! Ive never been in a fandom that has such a bond like kpop idols have with their fandom but especially skz with Stay. Skz were (and still are) the punchingbag of kpopstans and stays always fight so hard to protect these boys and they know that. Skz are always so open and honest with us. They share their struggles with us through songs and we reassure them by treasuring it and doing our best to give them the achievements they deserve. They always want to share their happiness with us, going live when they can, sharing their passions and hobbys with us and theyre always so humble, thanking us for their acchievements. We're so close that chan isnt afraid to even scold us when we go too far. I think it's bc THEYRE the ones making their music and stays always support them through their experimentation phases until they found their own sound. There's probably no other fandom that's so passionate about the music as Stays are, bc it came from THEM its THEIR heart and soul and they trust us with it. Its just beautiful i cant find the right words. Lovestay was made when hyunjin came back from hiatus (i think?) Its extra special bc that time when he was gone was so scary. When he came back we welcomed him with open arms and he was so grateful. So this song and its lyrics are so special.

This is one of my fav songs. Just gets me every time. Hyunjin opens and closes the song. And Stays did get their fandom name on August 1, 2019.

Welcome Back!! We missed you and hope all is well! One of my favourite songs from Stray Kids and will never fail to make me tear up and I wasn't expecting to cry today. Hope you are able to react to the 5 Star album trailer if you haven't seen it already! Huyjin was creating this when he was on his hiatus during Kingdom. It was Hyunjin's love letter response to Stay's while reading letters from Stay. This song really made me feel the genuine love that Stray Kids has for us and I have never been more lucky and proud to be a STAY. Looking forward to future reactions!

Hyunjin said the song was written over four months in the Summer, so pretty sure while he was on hiatus. He also said on stage that it was a song that might never have been made. Which makes me think there was a very real chance that he would not have come back from hiatus. Which makes this song even more special.
