As an Aussie I'd like to say we adopted Stan but he is 100% a proud Maori. Love our NZ brothers n sisters. Aussie music wouldnt have been as great without adopting bands from NZ.... btw NZ, the Pav is still ours
He was born in Melbourne, Victoria (Aus) so we can definitely claim him as an Aussie with New Zealand heritage. I don’t understand the confusion but some of the comments in this post.
Australia need to actually watch the live interviews with Stan where he states Aussies treated him like 💩 when he lived over there trying to build his music career, the industry told him he acted to brown and they didn't like the music direction he wanted to go in because it was too Maori. That's why Stan moved back to Aotearoa New Zealand because that's where his roots are from that's where his blood is from, that's why Stan made this song to tell people that no matter where you come from, your culture your origin your language, be proud of that and don't let anyone try and take that away from you, be proud of who you come from and where you come from, and now look I bet the Aussie music industry is kicking themselves now. Stan may have been born in Australia but he will always be Maori from Aotearoa New Zealand because that's where his blood line is from.@@billjara8715
@@billjara8715nope… just because a Kiwi was born on Australian soul doesn’t make him/her an Australian. There is no citizenship granted in that instance.

You *need* to react to Stan's cover of Kanye West's Ultralight Beam. Plus the version of Tennessee Whiskey he did with Parson James. Stan is one of the world's truly great vocalists, and a very down to earth guy. There is also a documentary about his battle with stomach cancer on RU-vid which is well worth watching.
The song was written by Stan and he and a small team filmed the entire thing in 2 weeks around his ancestral homes in New Zealand. The producer added some of the footage from her movie to the video...and WOW what a brilliant piece of visual mastery. The chose Stan from a cover he did of a Kanya West song "Ultralight Beam" which is a must to watch also....I love your channel Guy's and a shout out to Kris for this suggestion....
After the bump in his road for him to retrain his voice it always amazes me when he sings. Love this song. Being of Torres Strait Island decent with Samoan linkage this song gets to me everytime ❤
Thanks for a great reaction guys. Doesn't matter how many times I've watched this, it always moves me. Kudos should also go to Stan's back-up singers in this. To my ear, they really add that layer of emotion that hits.
Hii guys Maybe Alien Weaponry be more you guys They from Aotearoa like Stan Walker and fight for the language Te Reo MOARI The earrings are Wild Pig teeth The half moon is a Tusk from a Wild Pig ❤
I know you guys think that this is a song but this is for us Maori people no hate and i am here to say that this song is to thank our tipuna for fighting for us through those rough times and that we have got to keep on fighting no matter what and that we can speak maori anywhere we want in any country and if that means we have to get kicked out of the country for speaking our languange so be it and i am here for thanking for reacting to this and that us maori people kaua e mataku kia korero maori ia ra ia ra kia ora/dont be afraid to speak maori every day every day thank u
Kia ora Wolf Hunterz whānau Stan is not a Aussie he’s a proud Māori from Aotearoa (New Zealand) who won Australian Idol & this entire music video was done in his homeland & only the movie clips aren’t…enjoy your content keep it up!!! 🤙🏽🇳🇿🇺🇸
Stan is Maori...100% New Zealand, not Australian! This song even has Te Reo as a main feature. 99% of Austalians don't even know what 'Te Reo' means! God bless Stan🙏
