Actually "Side effects" is a psytrance (psychedelic trance) music and apparently they are the FIRST ever kpop group to use that genre. The song might be loud and different, but the song "side effects" actually affects your brain to calm down the nerves. They used trance music, which it calms down the limbic brain and brings down stress. When you thought the song might give you headache, they actually calm you down. The video is quite different because it's part of their storyline. But the lyrics is about having regrets and anxiety that comes as a consequence after making a decision. The listener might feel uncomfortable while listening to the song, but that's the purpose of it. They're trying to express it how it feels like. It gives them discomfort feeling when doubting their choices, never fully confident in their own decision for the fear of failure and inability to overcome the challenges at hand. They're are really geniuses for using that genre. Now a lot of groups had been using it too, like Dreamcatcher and Ateez. Please react more to stray kids!
Did anyone ever tell you there’s a storyline in these mv’s? Side Effects takes part in the 2nd part of the Clé series. Clé translates to key in French. The keys unlock doors into their journey. The premise of Side Effects is inspired by Robert Frost’s poem Road Not Taken (which is also the intro track to this album) they explain how there are two roads, one led by comfort and another less traveled by. If you notice in the mv there were 2 versions of themselves. Ones where they comfortably took the bus and the others who took the off road path. The ones who took the off road, you’ll see them go through different obstacles and fight but at the end of the day they stuck together and comforted each other. They’re basically just saying they’re going on their journey on their own despite the hardships. Hyunjin at the end is the continuation into Levanter. I would suggest to check out their prequel highlight reel after you watch Levanter.
Oh yes... There are two moons, two versions of themselves, seeking the answer in two very different ways. The way skz come up with this stories is amazing, aye?
Not every song will be a hit but I love that they get the artistic freedom to put out the music they want. And to do songs that other groups aren’t doing, showing us it’s freaken badass to be different ;)
Many people are uncomfortable addressing mental illness. I cried the first time I heard it. This song and their comprehension/apparent understanding of mental illness hit home hard for me. I have a daughter that fought that battle growing up. She's living a very productive and happier life as an adult thankfully. I love that they address so many life issues.
Just in case you didn’t notice, this is what they mixed with gods menu during their 2nd performance of kingdoms. So so so good! Love the reactions and watching people fall in love with stray kids
@@halahala4801 Because of the beat, they had been saying that SKZ music was construction music. They thought it was too loud and sounded just like construction noise. And then Bangchan affirmed that it is true, it is like a construction music because they construct their own music and their own genre. Maybe they weren't ashamed to say that, but Bangchan answered them in a really good way. Btw I like this song so much. At least it is quite different, not just another copy of the songs that are already exist.
U know that There tagline is “STEP OUT! we are stray kids” , Its them stepping out of the comfort zone, of the norm, and of what society tells u to do. I love that u also pointed that out in your reaction! 💪🏼
not sure if you picked up on this from your first listen but one of the cool easter eggs of this song is that in the chorus there is a voice in the background listening out a whole bunch of side effects "side effects include anxiety, nausea, etc etc" every layer of their music reveals something new about its meaning, picking apart their songs is always such a fascinating process
Yessssss!!! ❤️❤️❤️ If you get a minute in your spare time you should check out the performance video to this! It’s awesome. Also there’s a show performance too where they wear black and red but I can’t remember the name. It’s a different vibe but still a banger.
Just binged all your skz videos and now I’m subbed lol. I love SKZ so much I’m really happy to see you enjoying their music and taking the time to appreciate their lyrics!
Side effects/Miroh are big hits at parties x) It really lifts up the mood. Two different groups lightened up because I requested it. Wonderful group and I'm highly impressed even the youngest tries to sing live.

*Stray Kids 😅 You wrote stay kids🤫🤭😂💜 Loved your reaction as always man! Also this is one of the songs I definitely listen to when I have too much on my mind. The loud screams and beats helps focus on it rather than the unhealthy thoughts. :)
Yes Stray Kids are soo awesome, not one single song can disapoint. Not sure if you reacted to it, but you can check out the live performance at the MAMA Awards of Victory Song
I AM VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY DISAGREE WITH EVERYTHING YOU SAID!!! I LOVE STRAY KIDS BECAUSE THEY ARE SO DIFFERENT FROM OTHER GROUPS AND I LOVE THAT ABOUT THEM BECAUSE I FOUND MYSELF IN THEM, Honestly, I feel so different from others that with them I feel that it's okay to be like that and that I find a safe place where I can be myself regardless of the "obvious" or "everyday" Why do they make me feel so good? They are like my home, yes, my safe place.
