Very nice reaction/review. I love the variety in this album. You can just really tell that the Cure are a band who do what they wanna do and don't care to be put into a certain box. I highly recommend their album that came after this 'Kiss me Kiss me Kiss me' and the one that came after 'Disintegration', 'Wish'.

My faves are "The Baby Screams" (for the robotic aspect of the rhythm and the heady guitar gimmick), "Screw" (In which I love the saturated bass part which contrasts with the other instruments) and "Sinking" (for the ethereal and melancholy atmosphere).

"Push" has the entire song play out sans vocal, then plays out with vocal. It's an extremely long intro, but once you learn the lyrics, try singing along with the intro. It all fits perfectly. BTW, Smith says it's about wearing a dress and riding the train. LOL.

This album has some of my favourite Cure songs on it. Great accurate reaction. The Cure has been one of my favourite bands for 30+ years, I’ve also seen them live about 30 times, what is special about their shows is obviously the atmosphere in the songs and you could see them 3 days in a row and get 3 different shows.

There isn't a bad song on this album. It is quintessential Cure. It covers all their abilities and mixes of flavor from all their styles. It's a best of without being a "Best Of" Their best album of all. People looking for poppy cure tracks can stick to Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me.

Hi I enjoyed your reaction and it was interesting to hear your take on each track and the album as a whole. I actually saw them live on this tour for this album in October 1985. I was 14 years old. At that time, you could tell the fanbase was getting larger because of singles, such as, In Between Days and Close To Me. Also, the good videos from the album helped to get them more popular. My suggestion is that you guys react to the album Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me which is the following album after this one. It's a bit long, but it's interesting to hear how their music evolves after only two years.

I remember when I first bought the record I was disappointed, because owing all their other albums I found this too poppy. Now in my old days I like this album a lot. I don't think it's about cannibalism in Kyoto song but sex.

My third fav cure album (after Pornography and faith!) This album was after the Robert’s brief tenure in the banshees , he joined them when he pleft the pornography tour due to a mental breakdown. After Pornography and Before Head in the door, for awhile the band was in a weird place and released a few pop signles(ie let’s go to bed) and subsequently ‘The Top’ their strangest and most polarizing album (not my favorite, it’s all over the place but I do enjoy a few songs ). This album was a comeback and marked a huge shift in their sound moving forward .

The Cure took full advantage of the wide canvas of the album form to stretch their sound. The more unusual, less commercial tracks are what you eventually fall in love with if the singles become overfamiliar.

I'm pretty sure that was Robert. It sounds like his work on the Banshees Hyaena and Robert did practice flamenco guitar for a while. I mean, Robert is perfectly capable of playing that. I don't know why everyone assumes the lead stuff is always Pearl - Robert and Pearl shared lead a lot even live - and songs like Edge of the Deep Green Sea - the guitar solo on that was Robert.

@@zoeherriot I’m 100 percent positive it’s Pearl. He plays it live too just like on the album. I saw some studio recording of Head on the Door and he’s recording the lead on it. I never said Robert couldn’t play it, and he has in lived performances.

@@chronicdreammusic just seems weird because it leaves Robert to do the more complicated rhythm part while singing. That’s why Robert usually plays lead lines. But I’ll take your word for it.
