Fast forward 54 years: I am delighted to see TJ exploding on the internet!! OMG!!!! LOVED LOVED LOVED ❤❤❤❤ his powerful, soulful voice then...still love it today. Pretty easy on the eyes, too. 😉 I dont know .... but judging from the reactions 🙄 to him / his music that I've been been seeing all over YT lately.... I'd say he has several new generations wrapped around his little finger. Oh...and speaking fingers...Sir Tom looks so cool 😎 in his suit and tie but doesn't he just make finger snapping look cool 😎 and sexy?? Dude is 81 yrs old now and he still has some pipes!! I recently came across a bunch of videos from The Voice (UK version) where he does duets with contestants. Granted - his voice is older now...not as strong....BUT..... at HIS age? We should all be so lucky when we get there. I've only seen him live, onstage once .... at a VEGAS performance....but would love to see him just once more. Your review was on point. Do it again.😁
Thanks for doing this reaction! This guy was the real deal, was discovered in Wales and moved on to London. Eventually he came to America and he and Elvis became friends. He is still singing at age 80, he is one of the judges on Britain’s the Voice. At 80 he can still belt it out! Thanks for a great reaction!
Very smart reaction. You hit all the features of this classic, dynamic performance. Tom is 80 and still going strong. He was knighted in 2006 and Sir Tom now serves as a judge on The Voice UK and still tours [until the pandemic] annually. He is amazing. He sings all styles and types of songs superbly well. You might have seen the "Kiss" version with Art of Noise? That's Tom singing. Also "Sexbomb", a 1999 hit. The "Reload" album of the same year partnered him with a variety of young British rock and pop stars of the time. His more recent work, "Praise and Blame", "Spirit in the Room", "Long Lost Suitcase", is more intimate gospel, country, soul flavored and won great critical approval. Did I mention he is amazing??? LOL
Great reaction...its nice to see the younger generation enjoy ole school songs....he probably was the greatest pop singer ever, had women throwing their unmentionables at him at his concerts
Beautiful! He definitely had a bedroom voice. No autotune. Just pure talent. Back in my day, he was an idol. He can still sing today. That voice is a gift. Thank you for your reaction! Stay safe and healthy and have a blessed day!
He was only 27 years old in this video. Can you imagine how many women fell in love with him? We women are suckers for love songs. Hopefully, they make a comeback someday soon. 🥰❤️😍
I really appreciate how you musically dissected the song and the accompaniment. What makes this rendition such a masterpiece is Tom obviously took the tune and honed it to be seamless. He injected the right emotions and voice inflections at the perfect moment to create a smooth, coherent, harmonious, masterpiece with no sharp edges. It flows up and down on a pillow-like cemetery. You are so engulfed in the story and emotion, and Tom's satin voice ...unless you go back and listen to it over and over you miss the sculptor's sanding and polishing and forming a perfect piece of art. All of this is framed in an accompaniment so well thought out, with clues and previews of the upcoming phrase ( as you mentioned) It not only frames Tom's magnificent storytelling in the lyrics, the result is one harmonies masterpiece. Whoever wrote the arrangement for this song was a genius. It never gets old. The more you listen to it the more you have the opportunity to appreciate all the effort and thought expended to produce a masterpiece like this. My heart is warmed to see young people discover ( as some have) music talent they never thought existed.
I have listened to 20 reviews of this song and yours is the best. I like the way you talked about the instrumentals. Tom’s vocals and the strings moved as one throughout the lyrics. Beautiful. And yes, you’re correct about how he spoke instead of sang at one point the words, “I’m never gonna fall in love, again (he sighs like his heart is really breaking). I wanted to tell Tom: It really is going to be ok-really. Just hang in there. You’ll find love, again. Thanks for an excellent review!
Still bringing it in 2021!!! A judge on the UK The Voice he often does an impromptu song...theyre on youtube...a good friend of Elvis who admired him greatly...shame Elvis never made it to today, not many living legends who are still amazing today ☹ Great reaction 🤟🏼💞
One of the rare situations where the live performance beats the studio version! Sir Tom Jones turned 80 last year and yes, he still performs! One of his more recent videos is called Burning Hell. It is a live in studio video. Well worth your time reacting to.
80 years old and still can sing like that! He's a judge on Britain's The Voice. Hasn't slowed down one ayoda! He did lose his wife though in 2016. He was married to her since he was 17
I love Tom Jones. He was great and considering he came from a welsh mining town literally out of nowhere he was fantastic. He was considered very sexy.
Just to be clear my friend Tom is a textbook TRUE baritone, it's just that he's so damn comfortable in his range and completely confident in his vocal ability it is hard to find such pure talent anymore. He was so young remember when he recorded that and he's fronting a full orchestra with that micro- microphone. Folks who didn't get exposed to this kind of professional entertainment have a hard time really appreciating how good you had to be back before just anybody could walk into a studio and walk out a superstar. Sir Tom is the bar. He set the standard for class, style and yes swag waaaaay before it was fashionable. And let's not fail to point out delivery. Vulnerability and REAL suck you in emotion ain't no mistake it's very deliberate but you would never know it. Tom never had his heart break until his wife of 60 plus yrs passed away. He was the consummate player buy he belonged to her completely and he'd be the first to admit it. She stayed out of the limelight but he went home to her always until her recent passing.
This great legend called Sir Tom Jones still got it at 80, would be incredible if you react to him and Helene Fischer singing sex bomb, he was 77 back then. Helene is also a great singer.
Great reaction to Sir Tom. Have to say I love your soft gentle voice! 🙂 1967 Summer of Love - was the year hubby and I met and married in 1969. Coming up to 54 years. How could we not fall in love listening to the great music we had in those days. Throw the great Irish Showbands in the mix (especially Joe Dolan and The Drifters) and oh what a time to be young! ❤️
I LOVED watching your reaction! 😃 How refreshing! You really break it down! Actually, his movements in this is very tame. VERY tame! 😜 He was well known for his hip swivels and gyrations... 😂 but THAT'S a whole nother topic! 🤣😜😎 What makes this reaction video so great is that it's coming from someone who has never heard this wonderful voice before. I was a little girl when I was first introduced to Tom Jones via his weekly tv show, and even at the tender age of 12 his voice and movements captivated me. 😍 I was glued to the tv because I knew that his voice was different, heartfelt... unique. We're talking at 12 years old! 😂 🤣 Please watch more of his videos and give your reactions. "Delilah" is one I suggest and also "I Who Have Nothing." 😊
No fake harmonics added electronically. No auto-tune. Nothing fake and it was live. I am older than Tom and if you didn't have the goods im music, nothing was faked. The talent spoke for itself.
He's not a brit, he's welsh, but we all love him, and he is sir tom jones now as he was knigted by queen elizabeth II and he is now in 2022 in his eighties and still singing. An absolute national treasure to england, scotland and indeed his home country of wales, great reaction, thank you.
OMG, I would never do anything wrong to Tom Jones, if he were mine. Such a tremendous, powerful voice. All the women would just fall at his feet during a concert. And he would put on a great concert
Tom Jones is 80 years old but he is still active. He is presently a judge on the TV show, The Voice , in the UK. He is also still giving concerts and if you go to Tom Jones. Com you can see he will be appearing and giving concerts in Ireland, the UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, in the European area this summer.
I think what you're trying to get at is that the mic's, compressors, limiters and reverbs they were using in those days are highly sought after in modern recordings because they just sound so sweet and beautiful, they just have that unique sound. they are still around, but only certain studio's still have and keep those peices of equipment in pristine condition, and they are extremely expensive to buy, that is if you can find any for sale.
"Elvis didn't really hang out with other entertainers that much, but if there was one artist that Elvis truly called a friend and hung out with the most, it was Sir Tom Jones." This is a live performance at the BBC and yes he's still singing.
Dave, totally love the way you Review,, This is SIR Tom Jones,, He's 80 years old now and Still a coach on "The Voice UK", Please ,, Please check out him singing this song with a contestant whos Father wrote this Very song,, It's some Moment... One of his Bigest hits here in the UK & USA was " It's Not Unusual",, You Should review that one sometime,, Cheers Mr Dave,,,,,
Mr. Jones was a booming baritone but had a larger range then the average baritone. He performed this song again with the son of the man who wrote this song for him on the TV show UK has Talent show.
I totally appreciate your smoothie reaction brother. That being said please react to David Phelps a gift from God. Songs like just as I am. No More Night. Never Walk Alone. That dream. Nessun Dorma. Mio Bambino Caro. I have nothing. Water. We Shall Behold Him. And so many more. Totally looking forward to reactions. Until then stay well my brother
Yes, he had and still does have an amazing voice! Plus, he could dance and was a huge sex symbol. Ladies used to throw their panties on the stage at his concerts! And throw their hotel keys! Watch the video from his TV show where he sings "Treat Her Right." The first lady he goes to hands him her hotel key! LOL! You would know him from the Carlton dance - "It's Not Unusual." He's a legend! Also watch one of the clips from the Voice UK when he sings with Jennifer Hudson. He still has it at 81!
Oh, yeah had to laugh a little when you began with , this song would be a good prom song, I’m like, wait...Tom Jones is still singing, he even does a little rap lol. Also on The Voice UK
He looks a bit different not only due to natural aging, but also he had a nose-job in his early days. His rather impressive hooter was replaced by the delicate little feature we see today. Luckily it didn't seem to affect his singing voice.
Yeah....he is now 81, still doing concerts that sell out to 80,000 plus, is now a baritone at 81...watch him strip that collar off. In a 1975 TJ concert in Ft. Worth, I saw women in their 30’s,40’s, 50’s and older STANDING up on their chairs tossing panties and room keys up on the stage! And his voice is all natural, untrained...a national treasure of Wales...RU-vid Tom Jones on The Voice UK...you are hearing the Sound of a Welshman’s accent. Yep...dude...he is 81 and still performing.
If you want to react to the music that in my day was the best for making out, and getting it on, you need to check out Johnny Mathis, the reigning champion of make out songs, especially Chances Are.
Looking at your videos, I see you react to many different styles and genres I would really like you to react to “ Whiskey Lullaby “ by Brad Paisley ft Alison Krauss Official video It’s a country song, very beautiful, very emotional, Try to give it a shot sir.
Um. This is a reaction video. We pause to give our thoughts here. I have the original link in the description if you want to listen to the song uninterrupted 😀
I watch a few reaction videos and love your voice, but some others wait till the end to talk and I appreciate that. No disrespect to you, it just takes too long. Sorry.
