Three bottles of Bundy rum is pretty impressive! I’m surprised that he was still upright, that stuff is potent!! Aussies are just different, more like the Poms than anyone else. Our sense of humour is very like the British and we take the piss out of ourselves and others without a second thought. Such a wonderful safe place to be born and raised. Very laidback people who have a perfect work life balance.
Umm, from an Irish Australian, St Patrick's Day IS an Irish Holiday!! It was originally a religious holiday to commemorate the death of St. Patrick, a patron saint of Ireland who was said to chase out all the snakes in Ireland!! Every year, there is a parade and lots of celebrations of the arts, including fun times at the pubs.Look it up!!
Carl Barron is the favourite Australian comedian if someone can request that please. He doesn’t take forever to get to the point of the joke. He is what you call an observational comedian.
people were drinking it fairly regularly in the late 90's early 00's, It was in the top 3 bottled beers at the pub my parents ran. it was a pub with mostly older regulars, so that may have been part of it, but it was still one of the most drank bottled beers. not sure if you can even buy it now, can't say I have seen it in years (not that I have looked.) a quick search on a couple of sites gives 0 results, so looks like you can't buy it at most bottle shops.

Fosters is a lager and most Australians drink bitter. But the Americans tend to prefer lager, so Fosters was promoted as a favorite (using US spelling for you guys!) Aussie beer. The one thing we can't forgive Paul Hogan for, if you exclude 'throwing shrimps on the barbie'. In the early '80s, when I was 19, I was riding shotgun on a semi through rural Australia. We stopped at a pub to get some ice and my boss wanted to have a beer. It was mid-week, middle of the afternoon and the bar was quiet. Only one other person in the bar, an aboriginal sitting there quietly having a beer. INXS was playing on the jukebox, and it all seemed so right. My boss asked for two beers. "Fosters?" asked the barman. Right at that moment the music ended, just in time to highlight my bosses reply: "Fosters is for poofters!" (what Aussies used to refer to homosexuals. It was a different time.) As his comment rang out in the bar and seemed to linger in the air, the aboriginal patron raised his head, turned and looked at us. Then we noticed that he was nursing a can of Fosters. At that moment, I didn't think I was going to see 20.
You may not remember, but you did react to some Aussie comedians, 'the Axis of Awesome' and their '4 chord song'. Don't think you ever did any other songs of theirs, like 'How to Write a Love Song', their sendup of every 90's R&B love song every done.

Also When Jack Cowin, an Australian businessman, went to open the chain's first franchise Down Under in 1971, there was already a local restaurant there called Burger King that had the name trademarked. To avoid any confusion, he went with the name Hungry Jack's, most likely inspired by his own namesake
Bundaberg Rum, is a brown rum, distilled from left-over sugar cane pulp.. So its a highly fortified rum, and it gets you blotto.. And some pubs dont even serve it, as it makes some dudes agro.. due to the high sugar content (and the type of alcohol it is)
Not only do Australians not drink Fosters Lager, it's almost impossible to find in any liquor store here. My favorite is Coopers pale ale, in South Australia, with final fermentation taking place in the bottle/can/keg. Whereas other brewers stamp their products 'best before', Coopers stamp theirs with 'best after' date. And the ingredients are barley malt, hops, yeast and water. Nothing else. No stabilizer, colouring, flavour enhancer, or any other unnatural chemicals.
I don’t get out that much these days but I discovered the Lager on St. Pats day - I generally prefer the sparkling ale but I knew I was having a few. I don’t know how long that been around but it’s really great.

It’s amazing how well Americans do Aussie accents now - even ones we never heard of. (But he seems funny) Come a long way since Steve McQueen in The Great Escape. Aussie fav American comedian Arj Barker does a very funny take on accents and lots of other Aussie things, and I presume when elsewhere, other peoples.
I think we Aussies enjoy watching your channel because you two are also a little sarcastic, in a nice way. I think the main difference between Australians' and Americans' use of sarcasm is that we feel the humour is ruined if you have to either explain or apologize. So, we don't. If you're offended you need to stop being so sensitive and get a sense of humour. It's often said, if you're not being sarcastic to someone, he's not really your mate. (well, that's the polite translation of the saying.)
Sadly, the PC Police are currently taking over in Australia. And for a country who's culture has always been defined by its open disdain of any kind of authoritaranism this is highly distressing.

Another thing that gets promoted as Australian to americans is the Outback steakhouse. Steakhouses are a rarity compared to other types of food, but the only ones I know of have an american/texas theme.
I'm pretty sure the Outback Stackhouse chain is owned from the US. - Just checked, yep, owned & operated by 'Bloomin' Brands', out of Tampa. Most of the Aussie chains that make it here in Aus get bought out by the big international ones. The exception was 'Gloria Jeanes Coffee shops, that were a US brand that got bought out by Australians.
Yeah as an Irish American I can confirm they do celebrate it in Ireland to this day,however, it would be laughable to say Irish Americans and other Irish immigrants/descendants in other countries haven’t taken the Holiday with them and made it even bigger and some might say better. Though in our defense that’s because there are more Irish Americans and other Irish Immigrants across the globe than there are in Ireland.
