Masters of dynamics, that's what made them the greatest rock band in history.

The Mighty Led Zeppelin, they could rock so hard yet they could play it so smooth it could melt butter. Say what you will, they were the goat, period.

Like how you break down the albums and listen song for song. Some albums have a couple great songs and the rest are ok. But with a Zeppelin album, pretty much every song is a great one.

One of my favorites. Your upload didn't have panning (from ear to ear) of the guitar towards the end. I can still hear coming out of the custom speakers, alternating, in the back of my '61 Pontiac Catalina thru the 8 track I wore out. Can't wait for the Lemon Song.

You asked in a previous video whether the others sang with Robert; they all harmonize on the "ooooooo"s that fade in and out a couple of times. The guitar layers make for a lush, rich tone and the bass bubbles out throughout the song. The production is outstanding. Yes, this song is about the affair Robert had with his wife's (Maureen) sister (Shirley). Robert had dated Shirley first and loved her dearly but she didn't agree with his musical pursuits so he started dating Maureen then married her when she got pregnant. They would divorce in 1983 and he would have a son with Shirley in 1991 although they never married. Robert's situation with Maureen and Shirley will come through in a couple other songs also. All of that is a mess and another messed up thing is you have this song about his affair and a couple of tracks after it, you have a song Robert wrote for his wife called Thank You on the same album! This happens again with 2 songs on Physical Graffiti.

Maybe... in Hammer of the Gods, p. 97 Zep manager Cole claims that the song is about "the beginning of a long and secret liaison between Robert and his wife's younger sister." But Davis does not cite when Cole said this. Also, Cole's 1992 book Stairway to Heaven, discusses this song with no mention of Shirley. Maureen helped Robert survive in the early years before the success of Zep. They married in 1968, had 3 kids (one died), divorced in 1982. The family was close and Robert gave Shirley's husband a job on his farm (they were all in Greece August, 1975 when Maureen and Robert were hurt in the car crash). After divorcing Maureen in 1982, Robert got together with Shirley (who was married). They got engaged in 1983, never married, had a son Jess in 1991, then Robert broke up with Shirley. In 1969, Robert Imagined going away with his wife's sister, but decided "it should never be" as long as he was married to Maureen.

@@John_Locke_108 Allegedly he went out with his wife's sister before he married his wife but his wife's sister was the one who made him choose between music and her whereas his wife was happy to support his music career. He went out with his wife's sister again later, allegedly after the marriage broke down but the song Black country Woman would seem to suggest the affair went on before the divorce. I've never heard that he took his wife's sister on tour. Which tour was that? What is the evidence? His wife went on the first tour to the US with him butafter that stayed home to look after the children.
