This is what Sabaton do. They are telling about heroes and military stories worldwide. They never choose side. But telling the stories from a history perspecticve.. They also have their own "History channel" where they are telling the stories behind the songs!! This Swedish band is truly amazing!!!. They also just released their new hitsingle. (Iguess one can really say hitsingle allready as the song had over 500 000 views first hour! Its in Swedish language though...so to understand the powerful text, you might need to visit any of the translated versions :-) The new single is called "Livgardet" and is a hymn and a tribute to the Royal Swedish Lifeguards 500 years old this year! Still active and powerful and still protecting The Swedish King - Stockholm and Sweden (though normally in other combat uniforms today :-)

Indeed there are so many connections between bands. A Finnish band Sonata Arctica has a song called "Replica", live at Wacken 2008 is a good performance, a newer one live in Finland also. It is about how often times soldiers are not themselves anymore after coming home from war. The vocalist/songwriter Tony Kakko is a very good friend of Tuomas of Nightwish. Tony was a big support for Tuomas when he went through hard times and was even contemplating ending Nightwish. That was a long time ago.

Audie Murphy what a soldier, what a man and what a hero. What an inspiration he was and still is today, he locked himself in a room and locked himself in to kick drugs out of his life. I love this song and the video which shows a bit of what it's like to have PDSD, it is an education to us civilians in what the Service Men and Women go through being in the front line facing danger, death and devastation of a life. Seeing body parts, blood, guts and gore, plus seeing the death of your best mate or members of your military family. Thank you for this reaction. It's only the tip of the iceberg as far as Sabaton is concerned, just like what you're watched of Nightwish is the tip also. Sabaton is a Swedish power metal band and their territory is historical events. If you are a WW2 buff, then you will find many songs about events in that war. Ghost Division about the blitzkrieg; Screaming Eagles about the 101 Airborne and Bastogne; Wolfpack about the submarine warfare; and many many others. My favorite album of theirs is an older one, Carolus Rex. It has a Swedish and an English version, and the Swedish one is far better (though most of the songs on all of their albums are in English). The album is about the 2 peaks of the Empire of Sweden and the kings that brought them about, Gustavus Adolphus in the 30 years' war, and Charles XII in the Great Northern War. It also has songs about the common soldier and the devastation those wars brought. Sabaton also has their own "Sabaton History" on youtube were they cover the history that the song is about and then also way they wrote it. almost all their songs are about historical events or people. another good song "82nd ALL THE WAY" is about WW1 SGT Alvin York another MOH winner.

Pretty much all their songs are based on historical events, primarily war. The band are from Sweden and are classified as power metal. The drummer in this particular video is NOT Floor Jansen's husband Hannes. This is the previous drummer :D Her Husband Hannes joined Sabaton in 2013.

Yep that's Sabaton. Several of their songs have an historical theme. Was going to suggest you tried Ayreon next. Then realised you found that before Nightwish. Guess you could try Wintersun playing Sons of Winter and Stars to hear Nightwish's new drummer Kai at full speed LOL.
I've seen some of your reactions now... I love that Nordic countries gives you music that makes you feel good! If you want to experience a tribute to a specific soldier from WWIII suggest Sabaton-No Bullets Fly (animated story). Don't stop until the VERY end of the video. And DO NOT look away from the screen as you often do during your reactions. It's my friendly advice. Sabaton is not as complex musically as Nightwish but they are generally fun to watch, have great videos and energetic live performances and even an own history channel with background on their songs. For something more fun, try their "Night Witches" animated video. If you like the musical style and voice (and don't mind that they make a bit of fun with religion since they are Werewolf themed), let me recommend you some Powerwolf from Germany to your ever growing backlog :-). Try "Killers With The Cross" for starters. Have fun!

Lol I swear those Northern European countries teach their kids to read music before learning to read a book!! I'd love to know if there's ever been a study to find out how and why these countries produce such outstanding musicians. Is it something in the water..?....I'm only half joking...they do have some pretty pristine water sources. I mean, more metal bands per capita than anywhere else in the world...."HOW"??
